You beat me to it. I was just about to create a topic, explaining the whole thing. Arrrgh ... man, you just ruined my dramatic intro 🤣 OK, joking aside. Hello, my name is Daniel. I am the user on this forum formerly known as "C4DS". When I joined the forum back in 2005, I only recently had purchased Cinema4D (R9 at that time). Next to being a proud owner of the software, I also was proud of joining and being part of 3DKiwi's community. At that point in time it made perfect sense to have a username reflecting what I was proud of ... and it made me especially feel "clever" to having found a way to include my initials. (Yep, it's those small things that makes a person happy) Over the years I grew fond of that username, while to some it might have sounded cheesy. Obviously, I also grew fond of the software, although it had its quirks and flaws. After using the software for over 10 years as a hobby user, I started to feel I was missing some functionality and ventured into the world of plugin development. Soon, I realized other people could benefit from the small plugins I created. And it could also turn out to be a way to fund the yearly Cinema4D upgrades. So, I started a business. Not to become a gold digger, nor make a living out of it, as there is not much money to be made from this niche market. For me it was just enough to be able to upgrade to next release of Cinema4D. Anyway, times have changed. R21 hit the shelves, together with the nasty s-word announcement. Plugin sales dropped significantly ... and a pandemic on top of that really didn't help. Then came S22, and now R23. All these new features included are definitely heaven-sent, you don't hear me saying the opposite. But for perpetual users, just like myself, losing the MSA and seeing an upgrade price almost doubled ... Carrying the username "C4DS" just didn't feel right anymore. I wasn't feeling proud about that software like I used to. That in combination with the current financial burden. While it was a difficult decision to make, leaving all beloved plugin customers in the cold, I decided to stop the business. I will try to keep it running until the end of this year. Hence the closeout sale I am having right now, hoping to be able to break even. As Dave was kind enough to already provide the link to the closeout-sale in his message, I will not repeat it here. Just note that the plugins are compatible with R16 - R21, as at this point in time I cannot afford to upgrade to R23 ... and to make it clear, I am not looking forward to, how nice the new features may be. For clarity, I will keep using my R20 license. I am not looking to jump ship for another 3D software (not right now at least). I might still continue to develop plugins for my own usage. I am personally not in a financial dip, I am doing fine. It's only the business which isn't running anymore. From now on, I am just a regular user, a hobby user, going by the username "dast". Thanks for reading.

One can also show gratitude by contributing. I am sure admins will appreciate a small contribution as much as nice words. Maybe even more.

I agree that the whole topic regarding the current R23 upgrade price "secrecy" for perpetual license seems a little fishy. Wasn't it announced with release of R21 that all future sales would be organized via a MAXON webshop, that the intermediate reseller was being taken out of the equation? That's what I understood a year ago. My local reseller (DesignExpress) made it clear that then was the last time I would be doing business with them related to upgrading for Cinema4D. I wasn't happy with the fact the MSA was being cancelled and on top of that R21 was a "meh"-Release with an oh-so-fancy new UI, but stuffed with issues under the hood (fixed in R23? I have no idea!) But as I had an automated renewal -which could not be cancelled anymore at time of revealing what R21 was all about- I was legally forced to upgrade. To this day opening R21 still makes me sick ... but I digress. To recap: to my knowledge the local reseller wasn't part of the story after R21. I remember that past months I have received e-mails about a "so-called" Cinema4D reseller. But I do get mails from quite a lot "so-called this and that". And as we were informed: "no more resellers" I have binned all those fishy e-mails. Now we are informed that we need to contact our local seller for an upgrade ??? So, what's the deal? Why did my original reseller got kicked out, and why is a new reseller being introduced instead? On the other hand, Dave (3D-Pangel), I do understand why future pricing and upgrade policies can not be disclosed as of yet. It's true, the new releases are not yet available. MAXON cannot make out how many it will cost to upgrade if they haven't yet a physical release, and the knowledge it will cost to produce. Which means that prices for next release could go down (<sarcasm> yeah right!!! </sarcasm>), or go up ... all depending the cost it takes to make next release. At least ... that's the theory. While I like the new additions being added to R23, I will happily keep using R20. Would I want the R23 features? If these would be part of an R20 update ... for sure. But definitely NOT the R21+ experience. Because, face it MAXON ... R21 ... what a joke!

I am afraid they've already missed it big time. I'm out.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to this. And looking at your profile, since it mentions S22 I definitely cannot provide any further help.

I had noticed an issue with scaling the website. Seems it has been fixed with the latest changes. Thank you for that. I was wondering about the blog entries. It seems only a few recent blog entries are available. Have the other entries been removed as a result of upgrading to the latest forum software? Also, in the past a few "Clubs" had been created, and I cannot seem to locate these. I suppose some clean-up has been performed, and features that didn't get used much where removed? Although I gather there was quite a lot of information to be found in the "quad-polygon club" (cannot recall it's actual name)? Are all the club-related information and posts lost? As for the current blogs, there seem to be two buttons allowing to view the blog entries as list or as a grid. However, when you select to view the list you end up with an empty page (with old cafe icon in the browser tab). And from then on you only get an empty page when navigating to the blog page. I had to clear the cookies for C4DCafe.com in order to be able to get the blogs' page back.

Sorry, can't help here as I have no access to S22. Your best bet would be to check with SDK support at https://plugincafe.MAXON.net/

Cinema 4D for Realtime Workflows / Game art Resources + (C4D vs Blender vs Max)
dast replied to Shrike's topic in Discussions
For years I had been working an a plugin for UV editing. It had a basic-multi object mode, where one could visualize and adjust the UV's of multiple objects. Most of the features are now also available in S22. Since I didn't get much feedback from users regarding the multi-object mode, and due to noticable decline of Cinema4D plugin interest in general (obvious since R21), I haven't yet taken the time to extend the multi-object functionality in the next version of the plugin. While I am still much interested in providing this functionality, I currently don't find the motivation to spend all this time and effort on what seems to be a very niche feature. Wondering what kind of tools in that regard would help improve your current workflow? -
I like the current dark theme, and overall setup. Font and colors are fine. Thought I need to scale up to 120%, but this is using a 15.6" laptop screen ... and my aging eyes. So no complain at all, just some additional background info. However, there is one point I would like to make. And again, this is not a complain. I am only bringing it up. Not being familiar with all IPS and forum development ... I am only wondering. It seems that since upgrading to the latest forum software (or IPS theme) the number of posts per page has been decreased. Resulting in a thread having more pages. I am not sure if there is a benefit in having more posts per page, or if the opposite is true. As I said, I am just wondering. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this site, @Igor. While it doesn't always come over as such, we surely appreciate it. Thank you !!!

General experience is nice and fast, over here.

I am still seeing the same issues. But when switching to the IPS theme, then no problems. Switching back to 3.0 theme -> problems.

I subscribed just to see what difference it would make, which I reported a few posts ago, mentioning it was definitely not related to the ads. But then I noticed the page loading seemed to be affected by transferring data related to google analytics. What I also notice is that the front page is loading upto the downloads items' thumbnails, but without the number of downloads listed below them. Then page freezes for a few seconds. When page unfreezes the number of downloads gets added under each download item, followed by the video thumbnails showing up and the rest of the bottom page gets drawn.

Thanks for making the Theme menu available again !!!

@Igor I would like to temporarily switch back to the C4Cafe 2.5 legacy theme. I switched to the 3.0 theme to be able to make a screenshot of the issue. But now cannot switch back since there seems to be no Theme selection with the new theme. I have looked on different pages, but no Theme selection to be found anywhere.

I guess you mean this one: https://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/files/file/42-uvisland-outliner/

I can confirm it's not the ads. But it may be related to google analytics (or such). When using Firefox (latest 79.0) the bottom left corner of the page shows (Transferring data from www.google...). During this time the web browser's tab shows loading activity. And after a while the browser shows the yellow bar. I have tried with Microsoft Edge, and while I don't get the yellow bar (as this is probably a Firefox thing) I do see the same loading activity in the tab ... which also takes quite a while before coming to a rest. The difference with Microsoft Edge is that you don't get any info on what is actually loading/connecting/transferring, and that this browser does not seem to complain. Tried on my wife's computer with Google Chrome (84.0.4147.105). After pages are loaded the browser's tab still shows loading activity, similar to Edge and Firefox. So, my understanding is that the same happens on all browsers, except with most you don't notice something wrong. Edit: @Igor As a side note: I can't seem to be able to locate the Theme selection anymore. With the legacy 2.5 theme it was available at the bottom of each page. With 3.0 all I see is the "Contact us" at the left bottom and a copyright notice at the right bottom, which is halfway overwritten by the bottom menu.
-
As mentioned earlier: It's not really about the yellow bar, it's more about the entire experience. The yellow bar is just a consequence. Everything seems to be loading slowly with the new theme/version.
-
Might be related to the webbrowser you're using. I noticed this too (on Firefox). Had to switch back to the legacy 2.5 theme in order to be able to use the forums again.

RingLoop is a small Python plugin which allows to extend selected edges into ring or loop. An optional "skip" option can be provided, which will skip the number of edges during creation of a ring or loop from the original selected edge(s) Original thread: https://www.core4d.com/ipb/forums/topic/102983-select-every-other-edge New version 0.6 (see changelog) Does work with R16 - R23 (not tested with S22) If you download, use, and appreciate this plugin, please consider donating using the "Tip Me" button. Every donation, great and small, is much appreciated and motivates me to keep providing plugin solutions for the community.Free -
Ah, the lego master builder and former tutorial maker. You mean 3DMango, right?

According to the snippet of information at the left side of each of my posts it seems I do have 5 followers. However, when I browse my profile it says 0 followers. The latter would be correct since I have chosen to not allow anyone to follow me (hey, I am paranoid for a reason). Was wondering if this is a hiccup from the forum or do I actually have hidden followers?

So far all discussions in this thread seam to be related to the introduction presentation. I missed the live presentation, and only managed to tune in right at the point when the beer o-'clock joke was dropped. Wished I had missed that as well. Anyway, was able to rewind the stream by half an hour and watch the whole introduction thing. This really didn't wet my appetite to watch any of the next presentations. So ... did I miss anything? Just wondering. Today is day 2 of those presentations. Yet, I don't see any mention of yesterday's presentations, nor any discussion. Again wondering if there's anything worth to watch?

The original Dials was limited to the 3D viewport only. When I designed and implemented the plugin this limitation was fine enough for me. I only use this plugin to speed up performing actions when working in the viewport. However, recently I noticed this plugin would also be handy to have when using in combination with my Seamilar plugin. Allowing to have direct access to the UV tools when working in its own UV view window. So, I went looking for a way to extend the original plugin. Skipping the technical details ... (<yawn> boring!!!) I found a way to get it working for R16 upto R20 ... on Windows. Digged a little deeper and managed to get it to work on macOS ... "kinda". The Dials widget can now be used outside of the 3D viewport, even outside of the main Cinema4D application window. Tested on single and dual monitor setup. The plugin now has an additional colored ring behind the icons, allowing to contract against the background. The transparency of this new colored ring can be adjusted in the settings. I am providing this new version as a free beta-version to existing customers, with no further support. Unfortunately this version will probably never leave the beta stage, as there are just too many issues with R21. EDIT: While not being able to provide a same experience for R21 users as for R16-R20 users, I have managed to get something working for R21 (Windows and macOS). Albeit with limitations due to a bug in R21, which probably only will get resolved in R23 "at the earliest".
