  1. This is what you are looking for. This is what you want to apply:
  2. Which C4D Version and which RS version are you using? I cannot replicate the issue here in 2024 and 2023. Have you tried to clean the RS Caches for example? There is an issue with texture streaming into RS RV sometimes. Maybe that happened here with the Noises? Did you update the RV scene multiple times with the Refresh IPR Icon function? Overall that is a really strange bug
  3. Because Ptex proved to b a production nightmare. No way to edit the textures in 2D image editing software. UV based textures offer both 2D and 3D painting. UVs are also used in Rigging partly for data transfer between meshes and offer projection to multipe different resolutions. Ptex is resolution dependent.
  4. Sorry, but a case like that is impossible to solve without a scene file or a good amount of screenshots of tags and settings
  5. Greta work! Are they Mocap ready? Or is a custom Charatcer Definition necessary?
  6. That's because they are under development and can change a lot. A tutorial series now can be irrelevant in a year.
  7. See this file: - ObjectID in Redshift Object Tag set to 1 - RS AOV Manager in Render settings: Puzzle Matte with ObjectID Red channel set to 1 - If you want a B/W mask set Grenn and Blue channles in AOV to 1 as well Red Matte RS.c4d
  8. I can only say that I talked to two Training centers here in Germany earlier this year focusing on training professionlas in CGI (Architects, Engineers, Designers, Graphic Designers, Marketing people, Unemployds, etc) and they were both looking for Blender coaches because there is a wave of Blender demand coming in they said and they are restructuring. I also know two marketing people who play around in 3d for fun. In Blender of course. And if you look at job ads. Blender appears into them everywhere in the last two years. Other than that I know 3 sudios (15-30 people) in my city alone that jumped to Blender in recent years. They are all looking for generalists. Last point: the young interns interested in CGI today all come with Blender knowledge from Youtube. Schools must consider it at least as a tool of choice in my opinion.
  9. Yes, absolutely impressive indeed. Where it falls apart they do not show off course 😉
  10. Pixyz Studio and InstaLOD Studio with the DCC plugins are alternatives often used
  11. Best thing about Betatesting is the access to Maxon's Development Forum which is a goldmine of knowledge. It is an place of power users meeting Maxon devs and has tremendous value. But it also had the sad effect that these people do not go to public places like this anymore like they used to. A lot of people who once where driving forces in the C4D community forums are there now dropping knowledge while having obviously left places like this.
  12. Like this? First Tag uses the Object field. Second Tag smoothes the first tag using average modeSmooth_Curvature_Field.c4d
  13. That OSL Shader is basically the same right?
  14. Nice stuff like that is what I had in mind by creating this thread: That example is a nice representation of the huge lack of innovation in mapping algos etc. Why are we not seeing more of that? I am sure there is way more to discover and implement here
  15. Softened vertex map as mask in RS color layer node. Concepts like that are sadly DCC specific. Game engines use it as well with vertex maps
  16. They are great. He just explains no concepts. So you might build basic Houdini knowledge first before jumping in.
  17. Do you have an example of it? Is it different from C4D's vertex maps?
  18. I just did the occasional unwrapping job and seeing a thread in this forum here about projections I realized that there is basically zero innovation in texturing in the last 15 years. We still do it like we did in 2005 or so…The only thing that came to the industry is triplanar algorithm that is not much more than an iteration of cubic mapping. We still need uvs. We still project and bake the mappings. The same way just easier with fewer clicks. But no real intelligent new algorithms introduced. Not much new right? On the other hand we have seen a numerous amount of render engines, modeling tools etc come and go…texturing is not getting much attention right?
  19. Only way you could try is to duplicates the rig, mirror it and transfer the mirrored motion to the original using motion transfer with character solver workflow starting at an identical start frame.
  20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeApXZQIqO8 Silverwing has a C4D - Octane - Fusion workflow tutorial video
