  1. I can only say that I talked to two Training centers here in Germany earlier this year focusing on training professionlas in CGI (Architects, Engineers, Designers, Graphic Designers, Marketing people, Unemployds, etc) and they were both looking for Blender coaches because there is a wave of Blender demand coming in they said and they are restructuring. I also know two marketing people who play around in 3d for fun. In Blender of course. And if you look at job ads. Blender appears into them everywhere in the last two years. Other than that I know 3 sudios (15-30 people) in my city alone that jumped to Blender in recent years. They are all looking for generalists. Last point: the young interns interested in CGI today all come with Blender knowledge from Youtube. Schools must consider it at least as a tool of choice in my opinion.
  2. Yes, absolutely impressive indeed. Where it falls apart they do not show off course 😉
  3. Pixyz Studio and InstaLOD Studio with the DCC plugins are alternatives often used
  4. Best thing about Betatesting is the access to Maxon's Development Forum which is a goldmine of knowledge. It is an place of power users meeting Maxon devs and has tremendous value. But it also had the sad effect that these people do not go to public places like this anymore like they used to. A lot of people who once where driving forces in the C4D community forums are there now dropping knowledge while having obviously left places like this.
  5. Like this? First Tag uses the Object field. Second Tag smoothes the first tag using average modeSmooth_Curvature_Field.c4d
  6. That OSL Shader is basically the same right?
  7. Nice stuff like that is what I had in mind by creating this thread: That example is a nice representation of the huge lack of innovation in mapping algos etc. Why are we not seeing more of that? I am sure there is way more to discover and implement here
  8. Softened vertex map as mask in RS color layer node. Concepts like that are sadly DCC specific. Game engines use it as well with vertex maps
  9. They are great. He just explains no concepts. So you might build basic Houdini knowledge first before jumping in.
  10. Do you have an example of it? Is it different from C4D's vertex maps?
  11. I just did the occasional unwrapping job and seeing a thread in this forum here about projections I realized that there is basically zero innovation in texturing in the last 15 years. We still do it like we did in 2005 or so…The only thing that came to the industry is triplanar algorithm that is not much more than an iteration of cubic mapping. We still need uvs. We still project and bake the mappings. The same way just easier with fewer clicks. But no real intelligent new algorithms introduced. Not much new right? On the other hand we have seen a numerous amount of render engines, modeling tools etc come and go…texturing is not getting much attention right?
  12. Only way you could try is to duplicates the rig, mirror it and transfer the mirrored motion to the original using motion transfer with character solver workflow starting at an identical start frame.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeApXZQIqO8 Silverwing has a C4D - Octane - Fusion workflow tutorial video
  14. C4D Rigging is ok. It is the Mixamo Control Rig mapping that is fragile. Nice you found a way!
  15. I saw that too. Hence the remark about coordinates. I always had plenty of issues with the workflow. It is very fragile. What I saw with your rig: - The Pivot of multiple meshes is not centered, that may create issues - There is a keyframe on the rig, That will make changes difficult. Better delete it. - You can simplify to a single Skin deformer (Select all Skin def and delete, go to char menu and add a single new one, it will take the delted settings into the single new one ) - Your leg joints are perfectly straight. The control rig is confused by stuff like that and screws up Leg Ik. Make a small angle into leg joints - I wasn't able to apply the Control Rig to your structure as well, constant jumps and distortions. I would redo it with merged mesh and slight bend in knees
  16. You are in the Mixamo.com Take with locked Overrides. Unlock it and it works...but there seem to be a few coordinates issues. It is a bit of an annyoing workflow that C4D puts the Mixamo stuff in a subtake. You always need to chage that first. Maybe create a new scene from the Take in the Take Manager
  17. Hi Smolak You have 2023 right? That has RS CPU implemented like all C4D versions have now. So you basically have RS installed. The reason why you may not be able to open the assets is because they are most likely only for MAXON One users...there are many RS mats only for One subs in Asset Browser
  18. Hi Hyyde, alternatively you simply go into Object mode? 🙂
  19. It is in fact a damn good modeler. Only rivaled by 3dsMax. They are adding tools in every release in the last years.
  20. I just tried it here and it worked...Did you put everything under a null?
  21. The future can be seen there already for sure...but also that currently a writer, director and edtior is still needed for storytelling. You can easily cut that film down to five minutes and you would make it stronger. I found it a bit boring honestly.
