  1. I thought about! But this is based on a remade house I changed to fit my needs. It was sort of made with a touch laziness, a pinch of wanting to save time and a bit of, well that is already 70% there I should start with that. I did run into some geometry issues I wouldn't have had if I made it from scratch but I have made my peace with that,
  2. I think I will look into that. Might have it match the actual house more. Thanks!
  3. Just the title logo for the animation. I have not had time to really work on theses I would have liked. I have zero peace or privacy to concentrate with us in another lockdown. I really want to get moving on making the characters and start animating!
  4. Added more vine and changed the light angle which I think helped enormously to highlight the house better.
  5. I have not had much free time to work on this until today and I added some vines on the house and the terrain. I changed the leaf colours a little also and opened up more holes in the roof over the porch. might have to dull the leaves in the background trees some so the house stand out more.
  6. I often, mostly do my voice stuff remotely.I only have 2 people willing to help who are friends as I have no budget for any of these projects. One guy has a nice set home up and the other I have to bring my recording stuff from Montreal to Boston. I have issues finding people here because I don't know that many English speakers willing or able to do it. I do have a coloured light in there I should change. I love reading Bierce but adapting his stuff to the screen is difficult. The stories I can animate are really short and lack details that would transfer visually easily. At least it is more difficult for me. I have had to add elements or make explicit things that were more subtle in the original story. Poe and Lovecraft it's been about taking things out and Bierce the opposite. I think I did a good with this one. There is a part in the past where the story details happen and then a part years later with someone finding the house to take photos of it which give him an excuse to be snooping around. I totally agree the details are nice but the story has to rule over everything else!
  7. I do not want to destroy it so much the character at the end can't walk on the porch but it might get a little more ruined looking after I get the vine from the story installed and see how that looks. there is a giant hole in the roof now which will be more apparent with the vine coming out of it I hope.
  8. That might conflict with the ruined version of the house which is many, many years later and in autumn. I have been working on that for a few hours today as I already had the textures read to go. It is much easier to destroy something than to make it ! Of course much of this will change as I work further on the images and again after the characters are made and in the shot. I am thinking I can up the saturation when I do the tone mapping after the editing is done. I tend to do a lot in post these days! I have to make the vines still and my plan is to use the Nitro veins plugin so as I do a slow fade from the past to the ruined present, I can maybe have the vines growing during that transition. I am happy to have so much feedback, it makes me rethink some things and solidify other ideas.
  9. I hope this is an improvement. I think it is. I added details to the slats and rounded off some of the shop angles, especially on the chimney and fooled around with the corn stalks. I also added a new light that cast shadows in the front of the property which broke up the dirt part some more. Still working on the right angle for the shot, it will need to be used for this version the future ruined version of the house.
  10. Thanks to everyone for the feedback, HIPPODASTAMUS has my intention for the shot right but I do think I need to make some of the changes suggested like knock down the edges and add a little more detail to the wooden slats on the side of the house. I am much more apt to pick the style over realism since my goal is not realism but more I guess fairy tale like in my projects overall. Some of that is my personal style and maybe more of it is the limitations to my rendering capacity. The feedback is definitely giving my motivation to keep going on this a nice shot in the arm.
  11. Adding some end planks to the house is a great idea, it will add a nice little detail. I sort of want to keep things even so when I fade yo the present day the ruined state of the house will look more chaotic, but that might just be a dumb idea. I look forward to seeing my characters too.... I never end up with what's in my head when I start them!
  12. I decided to adapt the Ambrose Bierce short story, A Vine on a House as my next project. The script took a while to do as the story is missing details that help a movie version make sense but I think I found a fun solution to the problems. I have been thinking of getting a 10-core i9 iMac to replace the 6-core i5 one I have now but even with selling the old one I don't see how I can afford things being what they are. It would really help to push projects into different areas. I spent 3 weeks working on this opening shot set, the week or so was just finding ways to lighten it up so it would render in less than a minute (it's 50 seconds now) so the shots can be done in a realistic time frame when the characters are added. No voice acting this time, I decided on no dialog since I can't get together to record anyone. I used the new Q tile pro to make the ground texture less repetitive and layered another texture over that using a factor mask for the same reason. The house is modified from a free model online. This scene will be aged and turned to ruins next for the second part of the animation. My plan is to make super simple characters.
  13. The animation is really fun and natural looking! The render seems a little noisy to me, I don't know anything about Redshift to even make any suggestions to improve it.
  14. I have to say this has features I have been waiting tears for, especially as a character animator. Body paint isn't where they said it would be years ago but it did get some needed updates it seems. I am not keen on nodes still, it's not as wonderfully intuitive to me as it seems to be for most people but I see it as a step forward to a more modern program. The pose features are very close to nitro pose but more integrated and powerful. Sadly, I just don't have to money to go from V19 to this and won't in the foreseeable future and I am not going on a subscription model. So bravo to MAXON for finally getting up to speed on some things even if I won't be benefitting from them.
  15. https://www.ahith.com/events/the-cask-of-amontillado Ticket information is now available!
  16. Thanks Igor I put a lot into it and my other project "25 years later" and honestly... it drained me. I normally have several things in the works and I'm a little worried that I don'y have anything right now! I am hoping to get back to my reading of gothic tales and get inspired again!
  17. My last Gothic horror animation, Cask of Amontillado was chosen for the "Another Hole in the head" film festival in San Francisco. This year it is online like many other festivals and I might be asked to do a Q&A as well. online means anyone anywhere can see it now so I hope I reach a lot of people and they like the film! https://www.ahith.com/mrholeheadswarpeddimension
  18. I haven't used it for anything specific, but i have been playing with it. Sadly I am sort of out of ideas for things at the moment to work on, Normally I have 1-3 things in a pot boiling in the back of me head. Not lately.
  19. Won't argue the text could be better, maybe even smaller. Most people see to be watching these on their phone and really small so I opted for a less elegant choice to be sure! I do like the idea of super short, just a few interesting facts science videos. You could do an hour or more on each but I think these have more impact. If I do another I might rethink the text on the earlier ones and keep them consistent. thanks Igor! ,
  20. Another space project under my belt. This time I was more free with some of the visuals in terms of accuracy but I don't think I crossed any serious lines. 🙂 I got to use X Particles as well.
  21. Music is one of my many weak points, that will help a lot!
  22. I often just do a search for his res images and see what come up where, but I have these in my books because I was going to them a-lot. https://nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/models http://planetpixelemporium.com/earth8081.html
  23. Thanks guys... I am encouraged to do more. I worked on models of Saturn and Io yesterday as a possible new short in this vein.
