  1. And here is an older video explaining the various options. https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaytut/4_ways_to_quickly_toggle_between_recent_tools_in_cinema_4d
  2. Yes, here it is if anyone is interested. I pulled it from R20 standard layout and tested it in latest version and it works fine. If you fold the pallet after import you can place it directly into any tool palette. recenttoolspaletteMV.l4d
  3. I would guess the functionality should still be there. Maybe it could be pulled from an old layout? Otherwise, this video shows two other ways to call up recently used tools.
  4. I started with Strata 3D to Bryce to Infini-D to C4D and later Softimage. Of those only C4D is still being developed. No small testament I guess to the original developers and all those who worked for them and those who carry it on today.
  5. You can see some of it here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/whats-new.html Notice there isn't now even a box telling you at what magnification level you are viewing at.
  6. Sorry for the off topic discussion, but Adobe has a new interface for Acrobat and I'm just floored at how bad it is. Luckily you can turn it off. Imagine a software company building a new interface that is so horrible that they decided people should be able to turn if off and go back to the old one. Also what's with Adobe's proprietary dialogs. It's like they felt determined to make those as unfriendly as possible as well.

    Candy drop distortion

Do you seriously expect a response with that level of detail in your question?
  8. Xpresso is hands down the single most important tool in all of Cinema 4D. Take it away and Cinema is nothing. There was talk of the new nodes eventually replacing it and Maxon considering Xpresso to be archaic and unworthy of further development efforts beyond basic maintenance, but that has since proved to be fantasy. Nodes are languishing and stuck in a perpetual technology preview stage with barely anyone enthralled by or enthusiastic about their future. That leaves Xpresso as the still undisputed king of Cinema, but since it isn't being actively developed there isn't much incentive for people to write about or promote it beyond the substantial and already available content on YouTube and elsewhere.
  9. AE can do that but unless you're doing lots of compositing and special post effects then Premiere might be a better choice. AE is the world's worst software for video editing. For general reconstruction of image sequences and editing of video and audio then Premiere or another editing software is a better choice.
  10. It seems like Maxon has already abondoned Scene Nodes, unless they have some twenty year plan for it that I'm not aware of and it's actually right on schedule.
  11. Been awhile since I posted this link, but if anyone here hasn't seen this yet please give it a watch. AI is basically the Borg of Star Trek lore coming for us in the here and now. "Resistance is futile."
  12. See the triangle to the left of the word Format in last screen shot and toggle it.
  13. So I posted my question to Otoy's Octane forum. Let's see if it gets an answer. https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=81341&p=422523#p422523
  14. So I tested that and guess what? No free lunch on subdivision in terms of time it takes to render. I thought there was a slight hope in that my previous findings with Octane material sds found it is more efficient in terms of allowing subdividing more objects while still rendering than Cinema SDS, but in the end it seems there is no measurable render time difference.
  15. If all that doesn't work then use radiant geometry instead.
  16. Thanks for the suggestion. I will test that and report back. 👍
  17. I have a complex scene that uses conditions and dependencies that determine how objects display and subdivide. For example objects closer to the camera subdivide more heavily than objects further away. Everything is controlled via Xpresso and rebuilding the scene is out if the question for such a minor accommodation.
  18. Object subdivision levels and display/render flags.
  19. Hey all. I thought there was a way to make the Octane live viewer match the picture viewer when rendering, but I can't find any answers even when googling. I found many people asking but never an answer. The live viewer normally uses the editor settings from the scene instead of the full render settings. Is there a way to force the live viewer to use the full render settings instead of the editor settings when doing test renders? Thanks. Michael

    Retain scale number

You know what I have always hated about the object mode? That it is a mode at all! Why would it be a mode when Object Move and Object Rotate do exactly the same thing as Model Move and Model Rotate? If it was a real mode then they would do different things. Instead of an entire mode, which is confusing and wasteful, there should simply be a standalone Object Scale tool that can be invoked in one tool selection or keystroke. Man, this board. <- I picked this emoji since it seems to be the only one that works on this board anymore. Feels like the entire world of 3D is dying before our very eyes.
  21. I think you're over valuing whatever are these supposed exclusive nodes or capsules. It's just a marketing gimmick. If cinema nodes were truly of any use you'd be able to easily make these assets yourself and people would trade them back and forth like trading cards with no restrictions on usage. That's the way it's supposed to work. So I wouldn't sweat it. No one is ever going to require or need you to be a Maxon One member or whatever or demand some specific subscription to work on a project and if it ever does come to that then worry about it then but I don't think that will ever happen.

    Future Shock

I think AI will destroy the past by making it impossible to know what was once true or not. Only physical books and other records if preserved will tell the real story of humanity's past. Those who become invested in people accepting an invented past will seek to destroy any contradictory physical evidence by putting a bounty on the finding and destruction of it. The past will be constantly being reinvented to suit the present and the old tossed like dead hard drives.
