  1. I have never even heard of this company and it sold for $20 billion. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-09-15/adobe-is-said-to-near-deal-to-buy-online-design-startup-figma?utm_medium=social&cmpid=socialflow-twitter-business&utm_content=business&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=socialflow-organic
  2. Hey. The spheres in my example are only using a glass shader with a small ior value and an opacity fade over time and nothing more. Everything else is an illusion created from that, so I would just play around with an RS glass material with different ior settings and maybe add some noise or displacement if needed. I didn't bother doing any of that because I figured you would customize to taste with RS, and if more is needed then maybe play round with an expanding sphere of whatever kind of volumetric fog or shockwavy looking stuff that RS may offer.
  3. Amen. Anything stored in the cloud or requiring online authentication is not your property and never can be.
  4. Maybe you can do something like this. ShockwaveDeformationMV6a.mp4 ShockwaveDeformationMV6.c4d
  5. Even though it's Houdini, this video is a quick and easy introduction to geometry spreadsheets and how powerful it is to be able to assign attributes like scale and color to points and other elements and have those attributes drive any and everything else. I think I heard Blender can give attributes to points so it must have something similar.
  6. The current scene nodes we were told 2.5 years ago are low level nodes and akin to a nodal programing language, and not something intended to be intected with often by average users, but rather the underpinnings of things to come. There was supposed to be a user friendly 2nd tier of nodes developed that users would interact with but they never materialized.
  7. Check your scene epsilon or whatever it's called in RS.
  8. You can't announce a technology preview and then have zero to show for it two and a half years later, with narry even a peep of a mention in the latest update. Maxon is quick becoming famous for simply ignoring whatever it doesn't want to talk about, as if it doesn't even exist, and at this point it looks like nodes is one of those things.
  9. I think it's not possible since takes are a higher level of control than xpresso.
  10. Oh wow! R21? I don't know how I ever missed that. I mostly ever use R20 but still.
  11. Not mentioned in Chris' video is that the old Symmetry Object can now both flip and automatically flip depending on camera plane angle, which if not for the other new symmetry features would have been a major event in itself.
  12. Bravo! Rocket Lasso comes through with another great video. The cloth stuff at the end was really impressive and the symmetry stuff is beautiful to see at long last. The Xpresso stuff would be the most impactful thing for me as it is so useful to be able to better see the relationship between driving and driven attributes and parameters in the mouseover and be able to both see and jump to links in the AM as well. Despite seemingly missing in action node developments, this looks like a great Cinema 4D update.
  13. I usually use the little widget controls above the upper right of the viewport to navigate because it's a one handed operation and old school.
  14. How are you "scrolling"? The mouse wheel for example changes the focal length of the lens. It does not move the camera at all. https://www.google.com/search?q=camera+navigation+in+cinema+4d&client=opera&hs=Pzc&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjl7rDu1_v5AhWvFFkFHei1DdQQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1500&bih=765&dpr=1.88
  15. As a new Houdini user, I could only wish for such mundane problems. I haven't tried yet, but I imagine that a clay mode in Houdini would entail learning learning three new disciplines and stringing together a couple of dozens nodes and then debugging it all for a month, unless one didn't want that, and then it would just happen and I would have to then spend an equal amount of time trying to stop it.
  16. I don't get that behavior here. Clay mode or not the light and the lighting renders correctly. Note that if one's light is one sided geometry, only the positive normal side emits light and looks bright in the monitor and reflections. Also, in R20 with clay render mode, there is an Octane bug in which the Live Viewer gets stuck showing just one or the other. That is only in the Live Viewer though. Any render to picture viewer will use and render the correct mode, clay, color, whatever. Also, after rendering in the Live Viewer, the correct mode will again work in the Live Viewer.
  17. I don't know about the script, but Mograph has tools to do just that, without explicitly creating so many materials, which could quickly become overwhelming if the selections were big.
  18. I think the colors you want must come from the environment and not from the shader itself. The shader can do a little, with dispersion and the like, but refracted color must come from the environment itself.
  19. The displacer object and material displacement are separate things. It's sounds like you are mixing them.
  20. Is this solved yet? I had an idea that continued on the bend deformer theme. This shows the concept. InsideOutMV14.c4d InsideOutMV14.mp4
  21. It's a really interesting problem. The bend deformers look like they get 75% of ta solution. Finishing it off with a morph would be messy and of course not versatile. This deserves some thought. 🤔

    Displace + Distribution

This is a solution I often used in the past, but neither Octane or RS support global 3d noise afaik. I really miss 3d noises in Cinema but they still do work with the Cinema displacer object, so that's also an option.
