You could play with user data. Add for example links UD with attached ID´s (as names) where you drag your objects (then not needed updates in xpresso or linking objects manually to ID´s etc...

Did you buy subscription with discount as offer from previous versions? There was mentioned if you take an offer with discounted transition from your last release to subscription, you can not longer use your last version, but it´s maybe not that issue...

R20 is your own commercial installation? Since R20 used serial number licencing there´s no any reason why it could stop working for you. Releases R21 and up use new licencing system with no influence on older serial number licencies...

When you click on output (right red top corner of controller node), navigate to your UD and link them with appropriate nodes from xparticles...

He has UD on null "Controller" object, not xpresso tag itself

It could be done maybe with just few xp nodes, in my example it has more because I want to reset values, clamp entering values over spline length etc., but all that waste you could remove and adjust xpresso to your needs
