I recently made a mograph ripple animation following this tutorial.Using the colour remap, the tutor is able to use two colours. However there's no direct method to directly apply material to the respective effector. If I just drag and drop the material on the effector in the object manager, it doesn't show up in the final render. So I created a redshift blend material. However, only 1 color gets applied to both the waves. Why is that happening? Why isn't the second material showing up in the second ripple?Enclosing the work as a zip. The c4d file is light. Only the textures are heavy.0

To be honest, I didn't download the project file. 28MB for a few low-poly poly objects looked a bit over the top for me.
But I'd suspect those Normal tags to be the culprit.Thanks. That did it. I deleted the normal tags and everything became fine.

I have few hexagonal extrusions that I imported from Rhino (seen on the left). Their edges are not coming to be sharp in the renders.
On the right hand side, I made a hexagon using a spline pen inside Cinema4D and extruded it. The edges of that are coming out to be right. Why is that? And how to solve it?

Alright. Thanks everyone for sharing insights. I guess, I'll just accept it as it is and ignore it. It looks like statistics which won't affect the render performance I guess.

Okay. Thanks. I'll adapt to it then.

In the object manager of Cinema4d, some objects give me the ability of disabling using a cross/tick button, while others don't and I have to use the two dots to do so.Why is that and how do I always have tick/cross buttons for all the objects?0

your graphic card doesn't have enough memory to hold the texture data needed to render your scene.
I am still not able to understand. How can the texture data be larger than the textures and filesize itself?

While rendering a scene, the texture information goes up to a very high figures slowly as the time passes and redshift begins to render more frames of an animation. I don't have any heavy texture in my model. Only two textures with at max 2 mb filesize each. The entire C4D file is just 10.8 mb. What do these numbers mean?

Esc key should work as well, but it can only be tested for so often without reducing simulation speed substantially.
That's unusual. I tried Esc key frequently on C4D R24 and R26 but it never works for stopping simulations. In Houdini it works well.

In Houdini, whenever the simulation freezes or something goes wrong while seeing the animated preview of any kind of dynamic system like smoke, particles, etc. , repeatedly hitting 'escape' button stops the processing and helps us to save the freezing and crashing of Houdini.
How can I do similar thing in Cinema4D when it overwhelms my laptop and I have to stop the simulation preview suddenly?

Yes! Exactly! That's what I wanted! Thanks a ton.
Ctrl+I is the shortcut.

That's what I was doing initially. But the stats for polycount only show up if I select objects and enter the polygon mode. It doesn't give polygon count for the entire model.
There's a keyboard shortcut that I saw somewhere online which shows polygon count in a small notification box that pops in the middle of the screen and goes away when we switch to any other command. I can't seem to find that method.

When I start Cinema4D with a blank document, the HUD mentions that my document has 4 triangles.
The number of lines keeps changing as I orbit around. I guess that it's counting the lines of the grid.
But what is it with the triangle count?
When I add a default cube, it says that I have 36 triangles in my scene.

I am using C4D r26. No matter what I develop in Z-Brush, whenever I try to use the GoZ importer in C4D, it always imports a ring. What should I do to resolve this?

I’m trying to use downloaded materials in the asset browser to render in redshift. Some of them come out to be correct, others come out to be a glossy blank material. Converting them to redshift material also doesn't help.
I made this screen recording to show what exactly is going on.
What should I do to fix this?

If you work with layers in Photoshop (or, actually, most image processors) you can have a nondestructive workflow too. Does AE have any concepts that go beyond that, when working on a single image?
Yeah. That's what I was also thinking. An adjustment layer can be added to any particular layer and the workflow can be non-destructive of that layer. I guess the same what Happy Polygon is saying that he must be owning only AE and not PS.

Hi I just saw this video of Stuzor's Workflow Everyday Project | Cinema 4D - Octane Render'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDRI-vg4MEIIn order to post process his final render still image, he uses after effects. What I have understood that he adds different layers of smokes, and other elements inside after effects.
That can be also done in Photoshop. What is the advantage of After Effect in his workflow?

What does the new update do? is it compatible with s26? or does it just fix the link for s24. It's a hassle but export from bridge to s24 and then open those files with s26.
Hi. I have not gone through their changelog for the updates. Weirdly, the version number of quixel bridge after the update remained the same. I don't know why I got a popup notification for the update.
After more experimentation, I realized that texture issues are still appearing. It is just that the popup does not come. The textures get messed up just like before they were getting messed up when the error message used to popup.
The textures are also getting messed up when I try to use Quixel Bridge to export the model in Blender. I have mostly exported rocks and boulders from Bridge. They unnecessarily get a shiny glossy reflection layer that has to be removed by editing the materials.

I am very new to Cinema 4D and was searching for a comparison between X-Particles and Realflow. Came across this 5 year post. What's the scenario today? Is X-Particles at par with Realflow for specifically liquid simulations or it still lags behind in performance?
Another post while Googling I came across was this 3 year old thread on reddit .

yeah, just doesn't work at all, the plugin isn't compatible with either
Oh. Then which older version of Cinema 4D does their plugin support? Alternatively, if the answer is none, is there any workaround to bring stuff from Bridge in C4D maybe by exporting from Bridge to Blender, then bringing it in C4D ?
I tried obj and fbx exporting from Blender to C4D but the textures don't come.
Edit. A new bridge update came on my system. All sorted now.

Have the exact same issue trying to get quixel materials to s24. Wish they updated quixel bridge to work with s26
I haven't tried it in version 26 and 25. Have you?

I think Maxon need to see that. Have you submitted a ticket about it, including that information / screenshot ?
CBR
Okay. No I haven't done that yet.

In some models, I get this error when I try to import a model from Quixel Bridge to C4D (R24).
Any workaround to solve this trouble? I am using redshift version 3.5.01 and Quixel Bridge version 2022.0.2.

Learning to achieve cinematic style dramatic lighting in Redshift
in Cinema 4D
Posted
I'm trying to find tutorials to achieve cinematic lighting in Redshift. While searching for tutorials on Youtube, I came across this website called shotdeck that provides high resolution stills from various movies.
Does using these image for HDRI based dome lights is a good way to achieve good ambient lighting inside a scene or I should learn lighting in a better way?
I'm quite lost and trying to find a suitable direction to learn better lighting.
