  1. Ah, I stated in the video description that I received the machine from BOXX for review. Got the machine last summer. (As well as I received the Xidax machine/ the Intel Arc GPU from Intel.) So the combination of a strong CPU and a strong GPU is ideal for my business. But about the Xeons you got a point there. Of course, if I had to choose the CPU myself I´d also rather go for a 13900 to have 40K Cinebench points AND hight single clock speed for After Effects. After Effects is a strong argument for that: the BOXX machine has 867 points in PugetBech for After Effects, while the Xidax i7 machine in the other video scores at 1035 points.
  2. Theres no waste here. Besides switching to GPU rendering with Redshift I still have TV projects relying on existing assets made for Standard Render. For these I am happy to have 48 CPU cores at hand, embedded in my Inhouse renderfarm. So for me the combination is ideal. But of course looking at the performance of an lets say i9 13900 and its high single core speed the Dual Xeons in the review leave a mixed picture. Especially when it comes to the use of After Effects, which benefits significantly more from higher single core clocks.
  3. Its VRAM with Error Correction Code (ECC). Practically this prevents errors while loading and handling big datasets. Example: when rendering animations for Liebherr with 48 Mio polygons per scene with Redshift an RTX 3060 TI/ 8 GB VRAM failed to load the scene while an RTX A4000H/ 8GB ECC VRAM (mobile) flawlessly succeeded with that. Of course that can also be a question of the driver. But in general ECC VRAM is more reliable in critical, highly complex scenarios. The Liebherr animations were created on an RTX A6000 (48GB ECC VRAM).
  4. Hello all! Since questions about hardware keep popping up here, this post might be a useful addition..: In the last few months, I've published two videos about hardware for creators/ 3D artists. With "Machines for Creators, Pt. 01 & Pt. 02" I cover both Entry Level and High End with two example configurations - and some surprises... Hope you find it useful. 🙂 Cheers Marc

  6. Thank you guys! 🙂 Icecaveman - you got a point there. Stacking several cards is more reliable with Qaudros due to their excellent heat management. But expiecially the MSI Suprim X version of the 3090 has really good cooling capacities as well - and a high manufacturing quality. Its a heavy, well made card. Of course it needs some space above and below as it has two massive coolers on top. Keppn - where are you located in Düsseldorf? 🙂
  7. Thanks folks for the warm welcome! I received a 3090 Suprim X from MSI for testing. But beisdes that I´d still prefer it over the A6000 because of Redshifts excellent memory management: until now I never hit a wall with 24GB. Even my older 1080s can do their job while Team Rendering with Redshift though they only have 8GB. So the RTX 3090 does make more sense than the A6000, esp. considering the usual price tag for Quadro cards which is usually 2-3 times higher. Cheers Marc
