  1. Edit: Ok, I realised after a good night’s sleep that your question was probably rhetoric. Thank you : )
  2. Thanks! I try not to look at the watch ; ) But probably 3-4 days. Sometimes faster - but sometimes much longer if the image just refuses to work.
  3. I used to work with product and architectural visualisations for many years, but now I mostly do illustrations for books and tabletop RPGs. I’m attaching a couple of recent illustrations below. And I finally got around to making a portfolio on Artstation, if you want to see more: www.artstation.com/clarenceredd
  4. Anandtech has taken a closer look at M1 Pro and Max. The link is for the GPU testing - a dropdown at the end of the page points to the other parts: https://www.anandtech.com/show/17024/apple-m1-max-performance-review/6 TLDR; not very good for games but truly impressive for creatives.
  5. I’ve been a Mac user for many years, so this is very welcome. In the last few years, it’s felt like 3d work on Mac was doomed - despite the new processors.
  6. There are some really nice interior renders by Philip Moreton in the latest Renderpeople newsletter: https://renderpeople.com/blog/photorealistic-visualizations/ It’s rare to see such good lighting setups in arch viz. It won’t fit every project, of course, but it’s nice to see some cinematic work creeping into architecture. And I’m happy to see he’s using Corona (not with C4d, though).
  7. You’ve got some good comments already. Overall it’s a nice interior shot. I would say that the image outside the window looks off, both in brightness and the actual view. The brightest parts in the image are also a bit too bright -unless that’s the look you’re after. A small detail: The back of the chair closest to the camera looks really flat. I would suggest that you rotate it somewhat, to make the lighting more lifelike.
  8. Many years ago, when I had only used Lightwave for a couple of years, I read a bunch of books on lighting for photographers. That was probably the best thing I’ve learned for my 3d work over the years. Around the same time, Lightwave 6 was released, introducing GI, and realistic lighting was finally within reach. In the past year, I’ve felt almost the same way with Marvellous Designer. I can’t understand why I avoided it for so long. Working with cloth is just so much fun now. And it makes my scenes a hundred times better. (Well, maybe not a hundred : )
  9. Thanks! I’ll check it out.
  10. Good point : ) I guess I should just give a free account a try and see what it’s like.
  11. Isn’t there a Pro account that shows your images more often etcetera?
  12. I’ve been doing some illustrations lately that I’m quite happy with. And now I’m thinking about uploading them to Artstation. But I’m not really interested in getting lots of commissions or a new job. Nor do I want to spend hours every day liking other artist’s work just to boost my visibility. Still, I enjoy scrolling through the new pieces there. And it’s cool to see so many good artists in one place. So, my question is, is Artstation worth the effort/money?
  13. Couldn’t have said it better.
  14. What would the list look like with Indie prices included?
  15. It turns out MacOS Monterey is not necessary to try this out. An iPhone is enough: https://www.photocatch.app Now, what are the best tools to clean up some pretty crappy first trial scans?
  16. It looks quite promising. I’ve been hoping for a Mac version of Reality Capture, but this will do for a start.
  17. Good to hear it’s not just me finding the copy/paste process user unfriendly. Better texture handling would save me hours of work.
  18. You may be right. But from my point of view, we’re still in the middle of a (mini?) revolution. Realtime rendering, 3d scanning, MetaHuman, fast physics simulation - it’s a pretty good time to be a 3d artist despite everything.
  19. Oh, that’s not what I expected.
  20. Brilliant! Looking forward to trying it.
