  1. I don’t know about a position in Maxon, but it surely deserve much more visibility. I follow his tests since many years and his technical skills using some C4D features are amazing.
  2. You will be amazed to see what this guy is capable of;) His work and his YouTube channel deserve much more visibility.
  3. You can use a simple fog setup as suggested, then limit the decay of the light (or the environment fog if needed) to a certain distance from the source. There are also other ways to control the fading of the effect either using light and fog gizmo.
  4. Don't know if you already solved, I sent you a PM if you still need help
  5. Corona is quite fast for a CPU engine, but the perception always depends by your speed standards. Best way to evaluate is to download the demo and check it by your self;)
  6. Not now, some model should be mostly compatible since they are based on C4D hair and cloner, other will need more work
  7. Hello everyone, I finally found some spare time to experiment with the latest version of Corona. Since its features are similar to Vray, I decided to convert my rug collection to Corona. Although I had to use different tools for some models, I'm satisfied with the results. I've achieved the quality I aimed for. You can download a free sample from the link below. If you share a render with us on instagram @3drenderandbeyond, you stand a chance to win the entire collection for free (by Wed. June, 5th). https://www.3dtutorialandbeyond.com/store/coronarugs/ Here are a few tests I did while working on the collection. I hope you like them!
  8. Unfortunately I get the same time with both C4D physical render and external render engine (Corona). I think converting may produce too many polygons, but I'll give it a try
  9. Another question about the hair system, overall after a few tests I got nice results but I still have an issue with the preparation time before the rendering. It may took easily a minute sometime but it seems that the biggest bottleneck is the clump parameter that increase preparation time 5x. It looks way too much IMO, especially considering that I'm not using that much hairs. Is there a way to speedup the whole thing? maybe backing or something else? Here is the file if someone want to play with it, I only reduce the size of the rug to avoid eccessive loading time (here it still take about a minute to load). Thanks in advance! butta.c4d.zip
  10. Your solution worked perfectly, thanks a lot!
  11. Thanks, I will check that in the afternoon!
  12. Thanks, I know how to get this difference, I mean how to get smaller clumps, like having 100 clumps instead of 10 on the same area Thanks! seems exactly what I was looking for, I'll test it tomorrow morning!
  13. Another question while we are on the subject, is there a way to reduce the size of the clumps? I tried everything but I was not able to get smaller clumps like in the Vray fur. Here is with C4D and Corona: And here is using Vray fur where I can tune the size of the clumps:
  14. Thanks, yes I know how to transform in real hair, I'm afraid the object may become too heavy to handle. I saw there's also a cache system on the hair but I'm not able to get it to work.
  15. Thanks a lot for your answer, probably I didn't explain myself well.. I like the look of the fur at frame number 3 but if I disable dynamics and go back to frame 0 I don't get the same result. Is there a way to freeze the state of the fur at frame 3? This is frame 3: And this is frame 0:
  16. Hi everyone, I need some help with C4D hair system, I already get the desired look but I need to figure out how to "freeze" the movement of the hair so that even if I change frame or disable dynamics the look is still the same. Any help will be much appreciated;)
  17. All our assets and scenes are still discounted, and we are also adding Vray 6 lessons to the Essential course! https://www.3dtutorialandbeyond.com/store/
  18. A quick solution can be the spline modifier, but there are tons of other options to do that.
  19. I think that for this kind of model you can also use some basic technique like simple booleans, if you take care of the topology and add n-gons where needed you can also use bevel like on a CAD software, here is a very quick example. Of course you can go for quad modeling but IMO for this specific object made out of plane surfaces and simple curves it may not be the fastest way.
  20. It would be nice to have this kind of interview, and yes, I feel that C4D just target motion graphic artists but it can do sooo much more... I'm an architectural visualization for example and I can tell you that with the current toolset and coupled with a proper render engine C4D is an extremely solid platform, but in this regard it's still neglected by the management... I mean.. never see anyone from Maxon posting about this field, only Mograph and little else, and because of this archiviz plugin developers and users are often looking elsewhere. Of course this is only my personal experience as an archiviz, but I'm sure many other fields are neglected as well.
  21. I know for sure that Corona and Vray can render Pyro as well, I think that any engine that supports VDB files should be able to use it. The interactive render from the Octane video seems to be too slow and results are not that good, maybe there’s something wrong there.
  22. First of all.. that's crap... second, I enjoy modeling very much, if you don't enjoy what you do for work probably you have made a bad life choice.
  23. I made a quick test by blending a metallic shader and a transparent shader with a swirl texture inside the self illumination, I do not have enough information to build it correctly though..
