  1. I have a freshly rigged and bound character. The Cinema 4d weight painting system is pretty bad compared to other systems I've used, but I can manage for the most part. Despite that, I'm still having a tough time figuring out how to get the smooth brush to work. I paint on the skin, but nothing happens. Is there something to look at in the brush settings which could help find the issue?
  2. Thanks for checking. Do you know of any way to transfer the values from one side to the other with some tool inside of Cinema 4d?
  3. Can someone test this to make sure its not just something I'm doing wrong? Create a character object and set up a Mixamo control rig with the build tab. Adjust the hand elements and you'll see that symmetry doesn't work. Can someone confirm they get the same behavior?
  4. I'm with you. I'd rather wait 2 years for a (somewhat) working product than have a new version every six months with cute new tools to play with.
  5. Also pretty bummed about R25...it's a disaster. I didn't use R24 for the same reasons. Maxon should just completely stop making new gadgets and fun tool for the time being and focus strictly on stability and performance. In addition to the software being buggy, it's also the slowest piece of 3d software I've ever used. It's like trying to do sprints in waist deep mud after about 10 minutes of working on a new scene, even while being mindful of efficiency.
  6. As usual, great Disney particle porn to enjoy and study. But the thing that stood out to me was the camerawork and movement, which came to life in a different way during each musical number.
  7. R25 is a disaster for the very reasons you posted about. I skipped r24 for viewport issues, and r25 was no different. Hopefully Maxon can get back on track with 26.

    Jet Fluids

THis looks a lot like what Blender has...easy to set up and fast. I own Xparticles, but I'd welcome anything in Cinema 4d that is easy like Blender's fluids.
  9. I'm still getting used to using Xpresso...how can I ensure that I can always have this "all above 0 is 0" group available in the X manager tab of the Xpresso window?
  10. I'm trying to get a range mapper to use the negative pitch rotation of a null to drive a morph. Also, I need another morph to be driven by the positive rotation. I included an example dummy scene to get the idea across. Rotate the box null negative 45 degrees in pitch. The top morph activates and that works fine. The problem happens when the null is rotated the other direction to positive 45 degrees. The bottom morph activates, but the top goes into the negative morph value. I need it to not work once the null passes zero and goes into the positive direction. I think I'm close, but there's something I'm missing. This was so easy in Softimage to link anything to a null's direction, but Cinema's way of doing it is confusing. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? set driven example.c4d
  11. Coming from Softimage, I was worried that cinema 4d wasn't very deep in the area of character animation...and maybe at one time that actually was the case. But as I learn the tools I'm finding out that c4d not only seems capable and able to hang with Softimage, it might be better at some things too. I keep discovering things that make me go "I wish I had this tool when I used Softimage."

    TRUE SYMMETRY 1.3

Symmetry in Cinema 4d seems non-existent except for the Symmetry object...but in order for that to work you have to cut the object in half first. I have a complex character I imported into c4d from another software and cutting it in half is not something I'm not willing to do. I should automatically be able to edit the geometry symmetrically because the model is symmetrical. Unless there's something I don't understand about the way c4d handles symmetry. Is there a button somewhere to turn on symmetrical mesh editing?
