  1. Wow, that is priced steeply for a 1.0 release. Strange strategy for a challenger. Also, their marketing stuff is really atrocious, their mails and website look like early 90s stuff. I just hope their product quality is exceptional...
  2. Redshift RT really needed much more time in the oven, even as a beta release. On my system, the "RT"-Button is like a 100%-reliable "System Restart"-Button. They trained me to NOT use their product, in this regard πŸ˜• Anyway, somebody bring the realtime! πŸ˜„
  3. Thank you, very insightful! Let's hope for "Unreal for Filmmakers", just like "Blender for Artists". I find the Game Stuff distracting, too, but realtime is certainly the way into the future!
  4. Do you mean: 1 - The blocky cut-out? 2 - The stepping in the flow? 3 - Something else?
  5. Is there some story or idea that connects the well and the sword? Before going into the practicalities, I think it's always worth to ask yourself: "What do I want to communicate? What should the viewer feel? What's the tonality?" Answering these questions first makes it a lot easier to make decisions on movements, camera angles, colors, cuts, etc.
  6. Merry Christmas! Btw, our christmas tree this year is a digital set-extension (via projectorπŸ™‚) https://photos.app.goo.gl/MVsT4etgQLKiUqaf6
  7. I hope, some day we'll get some well-made presets. Connect "shoelace" to "iron ring", and done - as far as I'm concerned, the technical stuff can remain under the hood...
  8. Personally, I love the Redshift forum. Adrian and the devs have helped me big time, and I learned a lot by reading other people's threads. What I would love to see is the same thing rolled out across all products in the subscription: forum.maxon.net C4D -- New Release Notes -- Technical Support -- Bug Reports -- Wish list (with voting) -- etc Redshift -- New Release Notes -- Technical Support -- Bug Reports -- Wish list (with voting) -- etc Red Giant -- New Release Notes -- Technical Support -- Bug Reports -- Wish list (with voting) -- etc zBrush -- New Release No... ok, it's obvious how that list continues πŸ™‚. This setup just seems like the logical way to do it, instead of scattering efforts across disconnected islands of knowledge. The apps are moving closer together (Magic Bullet in C4D, Redshift in zBrush, etc), and so should the communication around those apps.
  9. Thanks for bringing this up, this capsule sounds super useful!
  10. Yeah, I really wonder what their studio drivers are even for ... if not for this *exact* scenario?!
  11. @FritzUnderstandable! Thank you for pointing out the downside. But shouldn't that also be a problem with Redshift on a dedicated GPU? RS really profits a lot from a dedcated GPU and the data transfer seems unproblematic? I'm no dev though, so I'll just take your word πŸ™‚ @Mike AActually, having the 4090 dedicated for Redshift solved multiple problems for me: There's a nvidia Driver bug going on for a year, that doesn't free VRAM properly of the display card. Having a GPU dedicated to Redshift circumvents the problem altogether The 4090 gives me a _crazy_ fast IPR, almost realtime in most scenes ... and the viewport stays super responsive, because it's handled by the 2080. I can do full renders in the background and still work on lighter stuff in the foreground (Premiere, Photoshop, etc.) The effect of additional overall responsiveness of the system was totally suprising for me. So I'd like to keep the 4090 as the 'monster in the barn', but I hoped I could feed it Pyro as well πŸ˜„
  12. @FritzI have a 2080Ti for handling C4D viewport plus other desktop apps and a 4090 dedicated only for Redshift rendering. I'd loooove to be able to select the 4090 for cloth and pyro simulations. Any chance?
  13. Haha, wow! Nice work πŸ™‚
  14. I must say... Maxon really managed to turn around the boat. This year's updates were really amazing, and I refound my C4D-joy in learning all the well implemented new tools. I think I'm back to full fanboy mode. A big "Thank you" to all the devs making that happen! 😍
  15. Thank you for for your grand contributions, @Cairyn! All the best, hope to see you return some day πŸ™‚
  16. Whoa, nice reel and very good comedic timing!
  17. @IgorSave us from red-banner-purgatory! Pleaaaase πŸ™‚
  18. Marvel is VFX shovelware. They produce these movies fast and loose - and rely heavily on bruteforcing those things through prostproduction. It's a shame how talent is milked to starvation in this industry. On a side note: It's super refreshing to see blockbuster material, where VFX are in complete service of the story, and tastefully so. "Star Wars - Andor" makes you completely forget about VFX, and that's the way it should be. Best production I've seen in a long while!
  19. Also, I actually bought some ActionVFX-clips for the first time. That some seriously impressive stuff... the quality is multiple levels above the average assets you get on the webs. I love their wide-angle-shots, that's so useful...
  20. That's a great deal compilation by cgchannel. By the way, is there any other site that delivers 3d/vfx-news as comprehensive as cgchannel? I'd like to frequent their site more often, but it's not optimized for mobile and apparently still doesn't use https. Good content, bud bad browsing experience...
  21. Insydium's licensing model sure gets more and more convoluted. Plus, seeing the latest additions to native C4D (Cloth, Rope, Pyro...), I don't foresee a very bright future for them, sadly. As soon as C4D gains a powerful new particle system (that also ties into their new unified simulation), Insydium will need a new niche to hold onto. (Explains all their recent new branches like Taiao, Meshtools, etc) It's quite clear now, why Maxon didn't buy Insydium, as a lot of folks always wished for. I just hope they can continue some kind of symbiotic relationship. Ok, sorry, I didn't want to derail the Black Friday Thread, just saying that at the moment, I wouldn't bet too much money on Insydium...
  22. Three years ago, a fix for that misaligned perspective would have warranted a whole new release πŸ˜„ All fun, as I said, I'm really happy about Maxon as of late.
  23. The perspective of the Maxon-Logo does not align with the background, as illustrated in the screenshot with some lines. Do I have to feel bad for needing to point that out? I thought this was so extremely, obviously wrong... πŸ˜…
  24. I'm a big fan of C4D latest development, but please... 😱
  25. Also, it has to be said: The quality and performance of the latest features added to C4D is really astounding. I think, since C4DR26 we're now officially out of the drought and it's raining good stuff! I didn't think I would ever say this, but: It's really cool to have a subscription where the company actually puts work in it! The Maxon sub gives me 10x the felt value in comparison to Adobe πŸ™‚
