    Cinema R25 Release

There is this dismissive tone I just dont get it. "It is just a software"? it is a software that is costing us A LOT of money, offering us little advancements and updates, ZERO listening to users feedback, completely ignoring all the REAL problems the software has, offering in exchange freaking gimmicks, improvements that nobody asked for... so what, we are supposed to be quiet, behave like good subsurvient users and be mindful of our "mental health"? This exact same tone can be seen on Redshift forums.. treating costumers like entitled babies. We are customers, we pay a lot for this, we are allowed to be pissed if all the things we request for the software we are PAYING for is being intentionally ignored. And so far, people here have been respectful towards each other (well, minus one kid...) but it doesnt mean we cant be honest about how we feel about the software we have invested thousands of dollars, and years of our lives. I've said it before and I will say it again. If this pathetic excuse of an update doesnt affect you, then, good for you. But dont diminish other people's complaints just because it doesnt personaly affect you (This works for a lot of other things in life too)

    Thank you Cerbera 🙂

No way it is justified to pay all that amount for only this abysmal update...

I am sad to hear that 😞 People are the worst arent they? Pablo is an extremely talented individual, both technical and artistic (his Genshin impact fan art sculpts are... something I know I could never do!) Maybe this will be something that the blender devs will need to administrate better in the future, roadmaps are awesome, but being a free software, maybe they could be a little bit more vague.. dunno...

You mean, the community (user base) or inside the Blender team? I guess no company is perfect for sure. I actually had requested a feature (well, a lot of people did) about light linking for instance.. and felt really guilty about even asking it in the first place, since.. I paid nothing for the software. And there was a great response, and acknowledgement.. So I am only juding for this experience really, and how I see Pablo (the other Pablo) doing these live chats with Blender announcements. But again, the bar that Maxon has set when it comes to this, is so, so low, that any company that better interacts and listents to its userbase is miles better.

Also, it is so amazing to watch Blender's announcements. There is literally a conversation between the devs and the userbase, a horizontal comunication "Yes, this feature people have been asking, but we had to postpone to improve this other one.." and their enthusiasm... it is night and day compared to the darkness of a communication and constantly ignoring its userbase that Maxon does so well.

Give it time. Anything that is sketchy, anti-consumer, gives money with little effort, Maxon loves it. PS: the tokens are absurd... Cant believe they expire after a year!

The changes were awesome, for sure! I lose even more of the little remains of hair I have left, trying to imagine the amount of work you put into this! Looking forward to the HoudinivsCinemavsBlendervsMaya topic hehe 🙂

Trying to add (with a giant effort) a positive spin to this... Is any of the "new" features something that really affects anyone's workflow positively in here? Something they added that is something that you personally really wanted/needed? Because on my end, whenever there is a new release I think "Ok.. I need to upgrade now, because there is this new and new feature that I could use" But for me, personally, on this one, there is nothing... So I am happy to stay with S24, at least until the subscription expires.

Nah come on man, dont do that. Igor is a talented and awesome person. Lets not turn this into a flame war and weird and pointless observations such as this. Keep within the topic of C4D's new update.

Funny that the default option is already set on "workflow" as if it was like "Here! Here is what you need to look first guys!" All Maxon's energy went into filling up their pockets as much as they could, investing the least as possible on actual improvements and updates. The Blenderish interface is also a joke. Couldnt they have coppied another Blender's s great things? Like, animation, viewport performance, realtime render? No, even for that, they want to invest the least energy as possible.

    R25 Expectations

My thoughts exactly. C4D is now Blender, minus the actual improvements and updates the software goes through.

I really cant believe this... What a disaster... more gimmicks, more and more gimmicks. I guess that meme "My expectations were really low but... " kinda fits in here. Maxon, what a joke..

    R25 Expectations

Damn, i got so happy hehe! But I am sure they will try to implement it very soon. A lot of people are asking about it on the forums!

    R25 Expectations

As far as expectations, I gotta admit it is pretty low.. But would love to be proved wrong in this. Hopefully no new gimmick implementation (i.e.. magic bullet on viewport..) , but an actual improvement on the core software Specially when it comes to timeline and animation in general, allowing more than 2 characters to be animated at the same time, etc.. That would be a dream! Or an updated bodypaint? Symmetry? There is so many things I would've loved to have on C4D. Cycles X will have light linking? I've been searching for this information for ages now, and nothing has stated this 😮 Where can I find it? Because for me, light linking it is the must have feature for me to start considering Blender a production ready software.

But they really need to implement some basic stuff... like, Light-linking to be really usable in Blender 😞 So far, only Octane has it, but it is super clumky to set it up.
  17. Aaaah, thank you so much @Igor! I will check those out!!
  18. Please @hikarubr, can I be your student ? hehe If you have any paid tutorial online, let me know. i bought two already, and I dont know.. it feels more technical than creative for some reason. But I will continue to give it a shot. I already paid for the subscription anyway. Thanks for your insight! Very true! Yeah, maybe this is a good thing, having certain softwares to excel at something.
  19. I'm a newbie in this area... so not sure if I am correct. But with Unreal/Unity, you are supposed to bring your assets (character animations, models, etc..) already from a 3D software, and then you can add lighting effects, simulation, etc.. all in real time afterwards, no? I've been really tempted to give this a try, but not being able to actually create assets from inside these softwares, leaves me a bit uncertain.
  20. Dont get me wrong. I think this example is a good one.. but it is not as fast as eevee.. Eevee is basically an extension of viewport. You can literaly grab a light, move around and see how it affects the objects, add volumetrics, etc... all just like you were moving your mouse through the viewport. The quality of course, doesnt get close to what Redshift outputs, but it is not the same thing. About the animation, I highly agree, working with C4D, feels like it was made for artists who just want to create stuff, and dont want to get too technical about things. And it works perfectly. My only reason to test Blender so far is because, animating more than 2 characters at the same time, it is basically a big no no 😞 And I had no idea about this... I mean, I had a sense something was off, from the lack of short films or full on character animation features made with C4D, but getting into this specific technical limitation on the production of my shortfilm, was no fun... Still, Im not 100% sold on Blender. Im also trying Maya.. but Maya seems even less friendly in my opinion. Creating joints, constraints, IK's... feels like a nightmare over there!
  21. Omg.. didnt know about the material manager!! That is great news! If they add that... possibility to group things... linking light, and I think it will be more and more production ready. about the render, I dont think Redshift RT is going to be as fast as eevee.... not sure... because eevee has more like a game engine behaviour: no global ilumination, but rendering of shadows, etc.. And I dont know any other 3D app capable of realtime render like eevee.
  22. I absolutely love the idea! As long as people keep it civil and friendly of course, not turning it into a "PS4 vs Xbox" type of discussion hehe.
  23. Yeah, I think for your situation specifically, Houdini is a whole different beast, and the most powerful software on what it does. No comparison really. For me, it is still a bit difficult to grasp having to move to a different software... I still love working on C4D a lot, in spite of all these horrible decisions with subscription model, and what not... I will give Houdini a shot once I finish my two current projects. I have a friend who just started working with it, and visually, what he is doing... it is absolutely amazing. ----- By the way folks, Here is the final render from my Jurassic Park Scene. The goal for this test was to see if I could replicate a bit of the "stop motion/miniature feel" that I want for my short film, not using Redshift. And it worked superb. Eevee is not perfect, but definitely a great step in the right direction.
