  1. Thanks for everything you're doing on the site Igor! It's no small feat. Looking forward to exploring other software and sharing on here.
  2. X-particles is such an awesome tool. While I can't think of a use case I'd have for this, they release regular great feature updates.
  3. The question of whether something is expensive is subjective, so there is that. It's also why I think Bitcoin at €53,000 today is cheap.
  4. If that's a bug, then something like that would probably be fixed much sooner than R25 release. Definitely worth reporting it to their support if you haven't done so already MAXON Support - for Cinema 4D, BodyPaint 3D and more
  5. That's great! I noticed in the release notes mention about Redshift settings so was curious to see what they were.
  6. Perpetual own with a single payment. Without going down too much of a rabbit hole, I bought R14 and got R15 included with maintenance. I didn't pay maintenance the following years. My next upgrade was R20 at 40% sale price with free upgrade to R21. Recent upgrade was perpetual to R23. If I was to pay a subscription from R14 to S24 it would be significantly more expensive.
  7. I think this has been mentioned a bit in the thread but in case you missed it. The course aimed at people coming from C4D into Houdini. It's really good. Stop Being Afraid Of Houdini - Mograph.com (20) Stop Being Afraid of Houdini - YouTube
  8. Oh yeah I agree subscription is too expensive. I think also that price is excl VAT. Open to correction on that.
  9. There's even a line about requiring paid upgrade for future versions
  10. I'll meet you halfway. It's a click away from the subscription pricing... Then it's in full glorious view, long live Perpetual!
  11. So, how's about that new release. At least Perpetual license prices are no longer hidden eh?
  12. The new features seem like really nice workflow enhancements. Chris's presentation was very good. How he packs so much into the short time is always impressive 😂 The chat was a really good laugh I thought. I didn't put much weight in the 'stay positive' when they said it. I took it as aimed more at anyone posting abuse rather than someone posting their disappointment.
  13. I think the introduction of subscription has raised expectations a bit too high. MAXON's PR at the time is what raised those expectations though. It would probably help if MAXON released a roadmap and timeline for when the new core is expected. Possibly the reason it's not widely known is it would have hindered the subscription switch. The update looks nice. It's a pity there won't be any more bug fixes in legacy R23 😅.
  14. Awesome Igor! That conversion tool is great
  15. Cheers Das! Yeah I'd say you're right there 😅. I was finishing some Ascent lesson around that time which were in Redshift so most likely needed the license for those renders. 2020 such a blur. Looking forward to seeing more Houdini+ content here and contribute to it! 💪
  16. It'd be nice to see how much development has progressed on the new core and scene nodes. With R23 more character focused I wonder what area gets the love for next release. Multithread or GPU enhanced viewport able to handle trillions of polygons maybe? I'd say it will get to that at some stage in the future given the glimpse of scene nodes we got.
  17. Oh good stuff @Igor! In between School of Motion courses I started the "Stop Being Afraid of Houdini" but had to take a break from that while completing the latest course. I didn't get far into it and just put one render together based totally on the lesson. Houdini seems really awesome and looking forward to get more into it very soon. I think I used Redshift for this render but could be mistaken. It took ages lol
  18. Anyone that runs a business is working 24/7 365 days of the year
  19. Nice one @igor! Yeah man the 3 C4D courses have been really amazing. It's slow but definitely worth it!
  20. Uplloaded the rest of the vides to YouTube so will past in here Actually I might put the original post videos in here too so save some space This is my latest homework from the Lights, Camera, Render course. In lesson 1 we create styleframes and then in this lesson 5 we create the animation and camera movements This is where we mix 2D with 3D This one we're using fields and vertex maps for the texture growth This one we're applying dynamics to the objects This one we're applying soft body dynamics
  21. Yeah I don't trust password managers either. I'm happy to reset passwords to sites that I forget what I set them to. Important passwords I write on a sheets of paper stored in locations around the house.
  22. Cheers Das, yeah for that homework the assets were supplied with the animation already applied. Our brief was to apply materials, lighting, camera and anything else but have the hero cats in it. Some of the other students homeworks were amazing with slick camera work and editing. I think the 1 take camera move I went with was pretty . It's too slow and boring so it kind of kills any flow.
  23. I just recently started playing around with Clarisse iFX for doing look dev and scene building. It's some kit. Handles billions of polygons effortlessly. No need to make a low poly version. It seems very artist friendly as really all you do is bring the pieces from all other software (c4d, Houdini, z-brush) and render it out to comp. They offer PLE , subscription version, freelance and studio versions. Not going to lie, after watching several presentations and tutorials on it I bought it straight away. Perpetual license with a really affordable yearly maintenance. It autosaves every few seconds because the project file is KB's in size. All it does is reference all the objects rather than bloat up. Worth looking at the PLE to check it out.
