I'm trying to create a length of silk ribbon, loosely arranged on a surface for a product render. I've tried a rectangle and bezier spline inside a sweep nurbs, and I've tried using a helix spline with the rectangle in a sweep nurbs, then using cloth dynamics to make it fall onto a surface. Neither method is getting me what I want so far. Has anyone accomplished something similar and have any ideas? I'm wondering whether the task would be simpler in Marvellous Designer? I also found a ribbon rigging tutorial for Maya that looks like it might work, could a similar technique be used in c4d?
The ribbon needs to look realistic in the way it lies, loops and bends.
