  1. Right, back on track: Week 4: Carbuncle. 4 Short Evenings, 2 Long evenings, Cinema 4D, Octane, Photoshop
  2. Thanks for the comments, guys. @eenendertig - cool ! never seen those before, they look great, I love all the dirt in their materials. @rectro - It is there, just didn't seem so spectacular, I do find the SSS a little fiddley in Octane at times. No doubt this last one isn't quite as good, dropping it in the middle then picking it back up never helps I find. But this excerise is about just moving onto the next one.
  3. Oh dear ! My weeklies kind of crashed & burned ! Working away from home during the week on a new job & having to work off my crappy cheap laptop. I'll try & pick the pace back up again, might have to stick to poly-modelling during the week, then sculpt & render at the weekend. Anyway, here is: Week 3: Stirge. 4 Short Evenings, 2 Long evenings, Cinema 4D, Octane, Photoshop
  4. Thanks Guys ! @Robididan , those are awesome ! never seen them before. I would need to do another few passes of detail + texture painting & materials to bring them up to that standard. For now, that's not the aim but I may come back later & re-visit a couple that deserve more development
  5. Looks great already. I've always wanted to try the hair feathers but not got round to it.
  6. Yeah, me too. I realised I just want to make some cool stuff & enjoy the process. Later on, I might come back & paint certain sculpts, rig & animate certain ones, work more detail into certain ones. But first I just want to splurge a lot of stuff & stay interested in what I'm doing.
  7. Thanks guys. I really like what some of the mograph guys do with dailies but my interest is characters & sets - in my opinion doesn't really lend itself to dailies. But it's nice to have a forced schedule & cutoff point - you don't really have a chance to get bored of a project before you finish.
  8. Week 2: Behir. 6 Long evenings after work. Cinema 4D, Forester Plugin, Octane render plugin, a little photoshop:
  9. Week 1: Otyugh. 4 long evenings after work. All Cinema 4D, with Octane Render Plugin, a l;ittle photoshop:
  10. Inspired by the Mograph idea of dailies but being creature sculpts & the fact I want to produce everything myself from scratch means weekly is more realistic. Working after work in the evenings I don't plan to be too strict on the timing of these but just keep them more or less rolling along. Got the first 2 weeks done, I'll try to put rough timings on them. They're supposed to be photos of small models of big monsters rather than photos of big monsters if you get what I mean
  11. Company: QUIXEL (Suite for procedural texturing, normal maps etc) Web-Site: http://quixel.se/suite/ Offer: 40% Off applies to indie & commercial licenses
  12. With respect, thats pure speculation. All of my experience working with Cinema 4D suggests that there are many small studios & freelancers using Cinema 4D - mostly buying Studio. Camera tracking & sculpting weren't added for big studios - they have other tools for that but for freelancers these tools can take them as far as they need. I think the individual professional users & small studios are very financially significant for MAXON. Granted, they probably have little interest in hobbyists because they don't spend enough.
  13. Sad to hear you're moving on Nigel. Thanks so much for all you've brought to the Cinema 4D community over the years. I stumbled on the cafe just after it opened & I was a rank amateur & I learned so much here over the years. Good luck in the future, Nigel.
