Selecting polygons that share the same normal direction

Old stuff but would be usefull to know how to actualy get the polygons selected. Right now all it does it creates a selection that works with other capsules, or maybe deformers etc. How can i work on selected polygon in a traditional way ? -
Dropping the fully rigged tank. Model is from Grabcad. Not textured. Ive added basic speed and steering controls. Not sure how to make the tracks more stiff. They kind of flop around sometimes. And when turning sometimes they will slid off the wheels. They are transfering motor power with friction, so not very accurate, like real tank. Last wheel - cogwheel - should be transfering power by moving the tracks, but doubt that would work well 😄 Maybe i wil ltry one day. There is a Target Null - all it does is stabilize the gun. It doesn't move the tower. but i guess it can be easly linked for that as well. Leopard 2A5_RIGGED.rar

2024-12-28 17-51-59.m4v I mean , come on, this is sick 😄 once its an actual tank. This works actually better than the test rig. I had to tweak suspension and distance between everyrthing and all, crank the quality settings and somehow it doesn't explode until it reaches the edge... Even the suspension mesh moves with the wheels, although its hard to see. Gun Stabiliser. Ehh i love C4D 😄 so easy to do certain things.

Yeah, the typical non dynamic rig is also good. I even used new Rope sim to get the tracks bounce around nicely. So maybe semi dynamic. But just for fun i wanted to try this. It is very unstable actually. For this example work well, but as soon as i moved the box left or right, centre of mass change ever so slightly and whole rig just sink in the floor. So lots of parameters to control, probably very dificul to get it to move on an actual rocky/uneven surface. Increasing the Substeps, or colision settings makes it a lot worse. But a fun 'gadget' to play with nevertheless 😄

Hi all. Im messing around with new dynamic system with connectors and motors trying to create dynamic tank. Ive watched several tutorials but all of them are about the legacy system. The new system doesn't work the same way apparently. For instance when i use hinge connectors, the gravity is being ignored across the whole system. I'm not sure how the setup should look. I'm going in circles changing settings but to no good results. I've got it moving , that's something but its messed up. Suspension Connector for wheels does work with gravity now, But it doesn't look correct. Also why those little support bars(cylinders) in the middle are not colliding with the tracks ? And why the body of the tank ( the box ) drops so low ? how to keep it at a set height but still dynamic ? cause i think that's the only way this works, body has to be dynamic as well. If its not, the whole rig floats in the air. Adding more connectors breaks the gravity ... Attached file with my current setup. Any tips on how to connect it would appreciated. Hi. Ive created a simple mograph animation, exported as alembic and brought back into C4D. I put it inside Volume Builder but it doesn't recognize the animations. It only displays (builds) the last final frame. Ive tried to put alembic into Connect object and that to Volume builder but it made no difference. Is there some trick to make it work ? ABC is about 6gb so i would rather avoid uploading it here 😄

Strange. But thanks for reply. I can't remember that it ever did it before. I've been converting to obj in the past. I've never noticed any tiff being created or that the materials came with different textures.

Hi all, Ive noticed that when i export OBJ format all the materials are being exported but with all the textures automatically converted to .tif format. What's up with that ? Was that always like this and how to prevent it ? I can't find any info on that online. There is no option to change that in the obj export settings either. All materials are RS materials. Textures mostly png and jpg.

but shouldnt 0-100% mean that it travels the whole length of the spline at the same speed ? regardless of the lengths of individual segment ? Mathematically it makes no sense. But i understand what you saying. It just not very logical in my opitnion. I expected to have issues when the splines has some curves but not with perfectly straight lines. Also if that's the case, why the End Growth works as expected ;D ? i think. its hard to tell if the speed is constant but seems like it is.

Well uniform kind of messes up the spline. But technicaly it does work, if increase the point to something like 200. Still no where near ideal. Why would linear with 0 point not work ?

Hi all. Nice to see forum is back 🙂 I've stumbled upon an issue that makes no sense to me. Ive got very simple setup here. An arrow following a spline and sweep object turning that said spline into a mesh. Ive animated the End Growth of the Sweep nurb. 0-50 frame : 0-100% Same goes for the Align to Spline for the arrow. The arrow seems to be starting at frame 1 or 2 not at 0. there is some sort of delay. But also through out the rest of the path it slows down and speed up randomly. But even at the last frame they don't mach. Arrow finishes frame to late. When i go frame by frame the arrow sometimes will forgot to move. Why on earth they don't match up ? I've tried with a Morgraph Cloner, same results. Brand new spline works to sometimes Tested on C4D R25 and it works like it should. C4d file included. ArrowOnSpline.c4d

Hello. My first personal anim that I've actually had time to finish. 🙂 Very short, very simple. Started as a fun particles study. More info under the video on YT or my Behance. ( Behance) All the work done in C4D+RS. Xparticles for the web stuff. Comp in Fusion, edit, grade and sound in DaVinci. Oh and the model of the doors/frame modelled in c4d, textured in Quixel Mixer... That was a first. Good tool but for simple work. Aspect ratio 4:3 to frame it that exact way. Any other ratio just didn't work for me. Also i would have to create a lot more stuff of screen I'll drop few more anims in a while. just need to tidy them up. 'End credits' if you can call it like that was my first ever attempt on more creative title/text creation. Designing that kind of stuff is not my thing. Same goes for sounds fx. But i did enjoy creating both I would love to hear some thoughts about it. I know there isn't much too it but feedback is always useful. Thank for watching. Quick breakdowns: The splitting/ghosting effect was a 'creative' fix for a mismatching renders... It was easier than to rerender. And it adds a bit to the story.

Oh that's a news a didn't wanted to hear 😄 I use only custom layouts... i don't think i would know how to use the default ones anymore. so limiting ;D Although Maxon got back to me actually, after i send like 30 crash reports in 3 days. They said it has something to do with 3rd party plugins, so i tested it briefly last night. I removed all the Cinevercity plugins ( which i would expect to be part of maxon stuff so not 3rd party) and Xparticles. Only redshift was left but i wont removed this one. Still crashed like crazy. I had maybe 20 min of constant crashes. Even worse than with the plugins. But ill test the layouts as well. That would really suck if that's the case...

Hi, I mean if there is a reason for the crashes and it is something on my pc or with C4d specifically on my pc than i would like to know that of course. But these seems like what you are saying - some c4d core stuff that didn't like the change. So i doubt that Maxon will get back with anything specific. Crashes are happening mostly when i start a file. It won't even fully open. it will just crash maybe 2 seconds after i click OPEN. I do get random crashed while working on a file ( after it opened ) but those are rare to be fair and often i can tell what caused them so I'm not concerned about those. Even more rare are crashes after i select an object on the list, or a material and even when i hover my mouse pointer over some objects. Those are weird, i wont even click anything and it crashes. This might be some gpu driver issues as well. Ive read about Nvidia drivers not liking some recent updates but who knows. One more thing is that i work on some old files for the past few months ( like 5-10years old) Updating old models. Maybe there is something in them that doiesnt like new core. They all run fine and i haven't had any obvious issues with them apart these crashes. Im really Just wondering what is going on with C4D in general. But im glad you mentioned this core shift. i forgot about that for a moment. That might be a the reason for it all. Ill keep updating it when it out and we will see. I think last stable was around 2023 for me too. Definitely a lot less crashy than current one.

Hi. Has anyone else experience unreasonable amount of crashes recently ? Since 2024 update ? Every file i open for the first time will crash instantly. It will reopen fine and will work for a while. But then at some point it will crash again. Then reopen it and one more crash instantly. Almost every single time. Not looking for a fix or anything just trying to find out is it just mine C4d or is it a common issue and we are waiting for a fix or something ? Ive sent the crash reports to maxon but i doubt that ill get any response from them. Currently on latest update 2024.2.0

Hi all. Ive got a simple setup here. Scatter cubes on a Landscape mesh but with this Blue-Noise Node so they wont intersect. But i cant figure out how to scatter it on the mesh that is not in the center of the scene, or so when i move that mesh clones will follow. Screenshot attached. I tried attaching Local or Global Translation to the Matrix Translation but that didn't work. Cubes were scattered under the mesh in one single point. I've never used nodes before, this is first time, so Im just guessing everything. this setup is based on a simple tutorial. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you.
