LOL, nope. 3 months later I've only just found out that Modo development is ending. I haven't done anything in Modo for years. I've modelled a few bits and pieces with MOI (Nurbs modeller) for 3D printing. Cheers Nigel / 3DKiwi

I've just paid the 5 Euro's after getting the email. You can cancel recurring / automatic payments within your Paypal account. BTW thanks for the couple of replies following my earlier post. Nigel / 3DKiwi

Just catching up with Core4D / C4D Cafe as I haven't visited in a while. Myself and Crew Reynolds started C4D cafe. We were both trueSpace users and both into animating. We could see that truespace's days were numbered so moved over to Cinema 4D. In fact it was about 10 years that we then later me on my own ran the cafe before I sold it and moved on. I'm not actually doing any 3D these days and only have Blender installed on my computer and that's just to view a couple of model files. People may recall that I was modelling Lego motorcycles in 3D. That's developed to actually modelling them for real. I currently have about 55 Lego Technic motorcycles and now design my own. I exhibit them at Lego shows here in New Zealand. Getting back to the topic. I would be fine paying a small contribution to keep this place going. I know I had to dig into my own wallet a few times to pay the bills. Running and maintaining a forum on its own server isn't cheap. Cheers Nigel / 3DKiwi

I would suggest Disturb's "Sound of silence" for the closing credits.

Hi Dave. Thanks for reminding me. I had a lot of fun making that tutorial. Image attached. I'm not doing a lot of 3D these days. I haven't renewed my Modo subscription this year. They've gone a bit like Maxon with mediocre releases of late. Any 3D stuff I do is designing Lego motorcycles using a free online Lego modeller Mecabricks. So I've gone from making 3D Lego models to actually making real ones. I was doing this before but now I'm a bit more serious about it. Attached is my latest creation finished yesterday. Not quite finished as the exhaust hoses are wrong. I'm waiting for some different length hoses to arrive in the post. This is based off someone else's design but I had to deconstruct it based upon some photos they put online back in 2015. 90% their work, 10% mine. Lazareth LM 847. Has a Maserati V8 engine. I've now got about 50 Lego motorcycles in my collection. Glad I'm not still waiting for the Bodypaint / UV Editing updates promised years ago in Cinema 4D. Apart from the interface changes and a couple of small enhancements to the UV tools, nothing much has changed since I jumped ship with the dismal R17 release. Cheers Nigel / 3DKiwi

LOL. I think my moderating days are over. Good luck to Igor and thanks to Hrvoje. Good to see the cafe or whatever it's now called still going 🙂 Nigel / 3DKiwi p.s. the "favicon" needs updating to the new name. It still says C4D Cafe.

Well done everyone. Some superb work.

Happy New Year everyone 🙂 Nigel / 3DKiwi

Although I don't post much these days I check in several times a week. Yeah I watched the Neutron preview and it looks awesome. Had MAXON released this while I was still using C4D I would likely still be here. In my opinion Neutron is a lot further along in development than what they may have hinted at. They've been working on it for many years. They were certainly working on it when I was a Beta tester but we were never shown anything. Hope you are all doing well. Life is good here in New Zealand with no Covid-19 and the only cases being people caught at the border. New Zealander's returning home all have to go into managed isolation / quarantine. Those of us that still have a job are all back at work and life is pretty much back to normal. Yeah still riding my bike a lot, still using Modo and modelled a number of big Lego models when we were in Lockdown 2 months ago. Modo's core is being upgraded like C4D's. Development isn't as fast as what people would like but they are making progress. Stay safe everyone 🙂 Nigel / 3DKiwi

From the album: Modo
Modelled with Modo mainly. No imported parts. Everything modelled by me. There's a handful of parts modelled with Cinema 4D. The decals were done using Affinity Designer. I've got the real Lego Harley Davidson. -

My Lego collection. Mostly Cinema 4D. No imported parts. I have modelled everything (but I have taken dimensions from imported LDraw parts).

I doubt I would qualify with my not for resale version of R16. I'm currently running the Beta version of Modo 13 and it's looking really good. I see no reason to come back to Cinema 4D anytime soon.

Yay, I'm now just a regular guy :)

So where does "Honourable Member" fit in? Above or below a Regular Member? Think I would rather be called a Regular Member or a "Cafe Regular". BTW "Honourable Member" is a term used in Westminster Parliaments (UK, Australia, New Zealand etc) that is used when referring to a member of Parliament. Nigel

Nah. Pretty sure we didn't have corny member titles like this. We had the following titles from memory which were the defaults for the forum: new member (under 2 posts), regular member (more than 2 posts), moderators, administrators Then we had the bronze, silver and gold Cafe supporters club badges.

Great to see my baby still going strong. All the best for the future :) Nigel / 3DKiwi

Actually Blender is very capable and some of the modelling add-ons are amazing. A few of the built in modelling tools are rather basic but generally what can be done in C4D modelling wise can be done in Blender.

From the album: Realism
Close up of front wheel. Modelled with Blender 2.79. Think I prefer the blue over the red.
