1. It is just incredible. The words I have for this would definately violate the guidelines. so just this: I have contact to someone in Kiew and this is something noone should ever need to go trough. It would be so important to let people in Russia know what is happening as the propaganda is hardly to come by. I am shure they would have their say, if they knew. To all Ukrainians: Stay save and stay strong!
2. Here in the south of germany we mainly have dsl, with fibre getting slowly more common. Depending on where you are you should normaly get from 50 down 10 up to 250 down 50 upnwith dsl for 20 to 50 € a month. Fibre is up to 1000 down and up depending on your provider. For dsl you may have a couple of providers with 3 mayor players. All this ist true for the cities and surrounding. On the countyside it very much depends on the community. I know places with crappy 4g deals but also places with fibre right to the house.
3. I dont think that threats like this need to end in personal attacks ever time. It is just a discussion about a software. I don't see that purchaising a special version makes someone better or worse. This is a forum it is about discussing 3d software. And if software is worth its update price or subscription is definately one aspect of using any software. This discussion is no offence against anybody here in the forum. If someone just cant stand this kind of discussions thoug then this is unfortunate but not justified.
4. You are right rigging and UV mapping of high poly count models is always a problem. for UV mapping though you can look out for workflows and tool to help. like this little script for blender: https://blenderartists.org/t/project-uv-coordinates-from-low-poly-mesh/629378
5. that is a "problem" of the model, isn't it? If it was modeled like this in Cinema and converted to polys it would be the same problem, woudn't it?
6. No problem. I converted a lot of complicated stuff, that i can not share, but here are some small things I modeled. moi export examples.zip
7. Just checked to be shure. Volume Builder, Push apart effector and Bevel deformer are already part of R20
8. for customers I had to work with their S24. Here I mainly use R20 if I need noise reduction or force fields then I use R21. For me there hardly is any difference to be honest. The UV tools are cool, but not worth 1600€ upgrade cost. good 3D party UV tools are much cheaper. capsules would be great to play around and for special tasks, but they are so niche, that I actually have no need for them. I got myself a perpetual copy of octane (before it is gone). together with perpetual xparticles I will be able to productively work with R20 - 21 for quite some time. As R25 already was at 1600€ update cost and R27 will the 2400€ Its going to be hard to come back to C4D. But time changes anyway. I am in no hurry and I haven't encountered anything that can not be done with a R20 octane and xparticles.
9. I am not shure if I understand you correctly, but imho Moi 3D produces great tesselation with nice quads and everything.
10. With normal render farms you need to wait in a line till its your turn or you can pay more and get a better priority (wich makes the cue longer for the lower priorities) . As zync was a cloud based renderfarm by google there always where enough free nodes available for you to render. you just defined how many nodes you needed and in a couple of minutes you where able to start rendering. Now that zync is gone, does anybody know such a true cloud based renderfarm, that has no cue? thanks a lot.
11. Yes it is discontinued 😞 it is a pity. For people who didn't use many plugins it was just fantastic.
12. No one ever asked me for a certificate. But In combination with a good tutorial book a certification can be great to learn a software from scratch. I did this last year with colorgrading in Davinci. They have a whole 300 page pdf book for download to get fit for the test. It is quite comprehensive and for free wich is fantastic. So now I am a certified noob in Davinci Resolve color grading. And a uncertified c4d pro with 20+ Years of experience.
13. Thanks for the info. I guess You have to have a Vray subscription for it to run? Which is 629€/Year without taxes by the way.
14. WOW Vantage and D5 Render just look amazing. I would really love to have something like that in C4D. U-Render hopefully is on its way fast. we need something like this, too.
15. I unfortunately think, that the whole industry (besides some few) is moving away from the thrive to maximum quality. And that is driven by budget and time cuts of course. Now the Target is acceptable or standard quality as fast as possible. Don't you think so?
16. I also have to say, that unfortunately there are very few 3D Animators that mastered timing and spacing the way the old drawing goods had. And they are working for feature film obviously. For series the switch to 3D often is just a economic move which obviously is here also the case. And well visible. It is not "just" the difference in timing and spacing though it is also a big gap in storytelling. It is plainly just a completely different thing. a different level. look at the old stuff for comparison. It is just so much more pleasing to watch.
17. Its good, that Maxon is getting itself a bit help from artists. A Lot of recent features have a quite engineer flavored UX imho.
18. As I understood it ( I think mentioned from Dave McGavran somewhere in the forum) you keep access to the assets that where available when you purchased your perpetual license. As they have a versioning system in the database this might even work for assets that get updated. The only question is how long they are willing to host legacy assets. Perpetual is a long time.
19. It is absolutely sensible and normal to host a database over the network on a fileserver. I basically have no production files on my workstation. A new system really should be fine with that.
20. Thanks a lot. I will work my way through all this info in the next days 🙂
21. So the Pandemic had some benefits then 🙂 I again started to play my instuments more. Mainly the bass guitar. With so many experienced people here. If I wanted to get a cheap first view into recording. ( having a cheap midi keyboard, basses, guitars and a old VDrum and a mic already ). what would you guys consider to be a good starting point? audio interface and what software? I am on PC.
22. thanks a lot for pointing this out. is a interesting watch 🙂
23. After This Video I feel so uplifted! I feel so connected to this Company. Stuff like this is what makes the customers happy. Everything is going to be fantastic.
