  1. "promising" and "future" are two words rather overused in the context of this software.
  2. That new MAXON logo is a miserable designed by committee fail IMHO... Quote (italics are mine): "Senior Brand Manager... designed the logo under the direction of MAXON’s executive team."
  3. I must get caught up on this as soon as I can...
  4. April 13th 3D & Motion Design Show "...Some exciting news and announcements from MAXON" Looks like you guys won't have long to wait. As a perpetual customer I'm happy to have saved last year's typical upgrade cost. It'll be interesting to see if the pace of development has increased under DMcG. I imagine it has, but whether they make progress fast enough remains to be seen. In 2021 there are lots of alternatives.
  5. It must be getting close to that time of year?
  6. Guys, I'm trying to learn a little Houdini myself. There is lots of good training material available, but one I can recommend is the 'Hipflask' 'Houdini made easy' intro course. Very comprehensive intro to many of the fundamentals. https://www.sidefx.com/learn/getting_started/
  7. I hope we'll see some Houdini in Core4D soon : )
  8. Case insensitive would be fine for me : ) Many thanks for your generosity in providing this - much appreciated!
C4D R21: Very helpful. 5 stars from me.
  9. Thanks Dast for this - it's very helpful. Currently it seems to be case sensitive. Would it be possible to add case sensitivity as a preference?
  10. Sorry Stephanie - I missed the Forum! At least I now know who to speak to when I need some Python help ; )
  11. Not allowing perpetual users to access Cineversity in full - or even to subscribe to it at a reasonable price - is just about the biggest middle finger gesture 'Mr MAXON' could make. It tells me everything I need to know.
  12. 'Frame selected objects' - the 'O' key, or 'Alt / Optn O' to do all editor windows. It's one of the 'View' menu commands in each editor window.
  13. An appropriate time to say 'thank you' - to Hrvoje, Igor - and all those who contribute and keep this place running! Keep up the good works : )
  14. The trouble is - it's a partial and cobbled together system at the moment - and will remain so until MAXON fully embrace it. For example: lets say you want to pipe in a solid colour picked from the C4D picker into diffuse. Once that goes through ACES conversion it won't be the same colour. Therefore very difficult to pick the right colour in the first place...
  15. I agree with Zenden. I think ACES and OCIO are the professional future. I hope MAXON take a really serious look at their whole colour management workflow to be honest. Even basic linear workflow is a bit of a mess. I work with Redshift. Every other DCC and pro renderer is based on a fully linear workflow. I know the node materials are linear based, but there are so many problems using them with something like Redshift, I have to stay with the Xpresso based shader graph - and sRGB / linear workflow.

...always a tricky question to answer The primary question is: do you really want to keep this client? If they are asking this question then generally the answer tends towards 'no' for me - but every situation is a unique one.
  17. Happy new year to you all... and a thank you to Cafe staff and fellow forum members. Your help and contributions were lights in a pretty dark year. Fingers crossed for a better one : )
  18. Reading the length of that I'm pretty happy I've not been using R23 1.00000... 😮 "This update is highly recommended for all R23 users." Yes, I can see why... 🤣
  19. Very clever : ) I had no idea what was going on, but whenever I watch one of your videos it always leaves a smile on my face : )
