I subscribed back when Igor made the change, it was 5€/6 months.
I came back today because of the email regarding the limited members thingamabob, and the membership fee doubled.
Some thoughts come to mind:
- if I'm already subscribed, why do I have that annoying banner telling members and visitors to subscribe?
- if I'm already subscribed, why was I part of the mailing list about limited members since I shouldn't be impacted by it?
This one is the most important:
- Why was I not notified of a price increase to the membership?
I appreciate the hard work the team is putting into managing all this, there needs to be some more work on communication though.
As a last note, limiting what free users can do and subsequently limiting the discoverability of this website to new users does everybody a great disservice. I'm sure you've all given it a lot of thought, and as a member I'm all for paying for a service, but I fear you've made onboarding new members and subscribers so much harder.
Wish you the best of luck and would love to hear your answers for the questions posed above.
