  2. :))) i was sure it was a software problem ;)
  3. I'm not sure if a ballbag hanging out the side of some boxer shorts is gonna cut it you know
  4. Ah yes I was meaning to mention something about the current IPS version. there seems to be a problem with the home page gallery at the top,it seems mine and Cerbera work has vanished, I'm sure this I'll get sorted in the update ;)
  5. Oooh yea that's nice. Looking good so far. Do you have any wire frames we could look at so we get an idea if the topology :D

Thank man, appreciate the kind words! I've actually quite enjoyed this one so far :D had a little down time from 3D (about a month) of not modelling anything so I'm surprised how quickly this one is coming together. Keep going man you will get there it's only a matter of time :)
  7. yea mate for sure, i have a burning desire to get things as close to the reference as possible, my main frustration was finding references images of good quality/resolution for the revenge of the sith version, i managed to find some on some forum of the actual movie version, and some more high res ones of a home build someone made that looked spot on to the original. i was planing to model the entire interior as well, which i may still do, i got as far as adding the details to the top of the dome section and the little radiator grill and linkages on the outside, although you can't see these in the pics, And that sounds awesome, make sure you make a wip thread!
  8. Ha! Thanks man was a fun project if not a little stressful.

Thanks man :D haha, trust me it's taken a good 3 years to get to where i am now, and that was pretty much practicing everyday living like a hermit before work, after work, weekends etc :D it's paid off though as now i don't really even need to think about how i'm going to model something i kind of just see it as i'm doing it, if that even makes sense :D i don't even have to plan anything out any more, i just know that when it comes to attaching the arms for example no matter what segment count each part has i know i can attach it no problem, it's as if i'm one with the force! only kidding yea basically just a ton of days and nights sat in front of the computer. I've neglected pretty much every other area, to prioritise modelling so now im playing catch up with everyone else. if i had any advice id say learn/model every thing low poly with sub d it's awesome! you're gonna make me blush ;) im pretty chuffed with the fat feet, only the second time ive built feet, and fat ones are pretty fun! i've a cupboard of virtual medals, but you've got a bunch of first place ones i wouldn't mind taking off your hands :D

Started a fat character a while back, never finished it as it wasn't going in the direction i wanted so i shelved it. today i decided to scrap all of it apart from the head and start over, starting with modifying the head. The model is Combination of poly by poly modelling and sculpting tools. pretty pleased so far C&C welcome.

    Critiq plz

Ah man , it looks ok. As my good friend pointed out though, those booles just ruin it completely. although you can get okay results with booles, wen it comes to wireframe shots (which not every one cares about) but will certainly gain you brownie points it just looks horrible. that's a fairly simple model there so it should be no real problem to low poly box model that with sub d.
  13. Perfect example. Yea no one forces me to read a thread or post, but it's instant sh*** attitudes like this that are half the problem in the first place.
  14. Seems like a lot of negativity in this thread already and R19 hasn't even released yet. I Personally won't be getting R19, but that's due to only getting R18 fairly recently, having skipped R17, So i probably won't upgrade again till R20. I understand People's frustrations, But literally every time someone makes one of these threads it ends up turning into a bash MAXON frenzy. If you've transitioned to another software package, Good for you, but maybe it's time you moved on to said softwares forums, rather than lingering around here. I'm all for healthy discussion/debate but let's be honest it's getting a tad silly now.

Oh come on bro. We all know that was made on a film set;)
  17. yep you're absolutely right, i did add red lenses, but it seems they've been drowned out a little in post/colour correction, here's the raw render out of keyshot, you can see a slight reddish tinge on the lenses on the front facing one on the far left. as @Cerbera pointed out not much changed since that thread apart from some upper dome details, but the basic geo is the same heres some with sub d off / on, i think looking at it now i could have improved the topo/flow but i think it will do for now.
  18. thanks man really tried to catch the likeness of the movies helmet.
  19. These will probably be the finals for now.
  20. Ah thanks man, I spent slot of time searching the net for good reference Images. I still want to add to the model at some point and do more of the Interior :D
  21. A model @Cerbera and I worked on a while back, although we developed different versions, he went more classic where as I decided to model the version from revenge of the sith, as personally I think that's the best version visually, never texutred or renderd a final version after modelling the outside as i had intended to model a detailed interior, which i may still do. Threw this together this morning before work, I'll probably add some more post to this / make some tweaks when I'm home tonight. Be sure to view it full size in all its imperial glory :D
