Thank you, that works fine. It seems the first version where I used booles I had corrected the normals which in that case made no difference, but the cleaner version, the version block of 20 cutters with normals fixed sorted it. I now have the full 200 and all is working. Thankyou for your help.

Could you send me the version with normals fixed please as Id like to see if for some reason the normals I fixed where not done correct? Pre slice as you can see errors, and thats with normals fixed as above. Here you can see its filled in the bottom. Thanks, Dan

Thanks for checking it out. I tried the normal changing on another version of that model, it made no difference, but in your picture it looks totaly different, did you do anything to the model or was it just a different slicer that solved it different? My printer is a Vyper. Thanks, Dan

It seems topology in this case does matter, it looks fine in C4D. it has Ngons, but I have triangulated it and still same wrong results. Please do try to download file, open to suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks for your response, apologies for my late one. I have had nothing but problems on one particular part, no matter what I do the slicer is not showing it correct. In the example files below your see I have tried with the inner structure connected on the double wall and with it not, it makes no difference in the slice outcome. This method is much cleaner than using Boole using just splines, and cutting with them into the geometry. The Boole method did work when I found the extrude tool with caps was making internal caps not needed, but it was hit n miss, and long winded way to work. Slicer software is Cura, latest version if anyone wants to give it a go? Thanks Files. https://chilp.it/676593b Simple object, same type of principle, same bad result. Print test with just two cutters, but when doing 200 with same method it didnt slice correct. Mold puller, one of 3 parts, printed fine.

Here are some images, it dont dont non manifold geometry, yet the way this is designed its not posible to avoid. I wil try to get a video up today, just cant get a moment to myself at the moment.

Tell me more, does it allow to better outcomes for Boole operations? My client is wanting to learn an app for design after I have completed this project as he needs it printed but will want to make the use of his new printer in the future for his own hobbie stuff. I looked at Fusioin 360, its just overkill, Tilnker Cad looks the total other way, too simple. Thanks, Dan

Here is it showing the error. It could be a double wall internaly that shouldn't be there. Il make a video on my modeling method maybe I could go about it a better way. Thanks, Dan

This is the top part, iv fixed some areas which now shows no errors with this part, it had some internal caps. Il try to get the error to show again and post it.

Thanks for your replies so far. Visually for render its fine, although Im a all quads guy so its painful for me to see such a state, but the model in question can get technical. Im starting with splines using the spine mask to combine them as I cant simply push one object into another, the printing software dont like that so it has to be joined at the vert level. Im using the extrude for the spines, but have to use boole during the course. This is a press mold for a client. All parts connect to form a single walk between each replicated shape. Nothing is push into the other. This part is the part that pushes into dough like material. This part sits ontop and is used to push the dough out the cutter half. The shapes therefore are a slightly smaller tolerance. Thanks, Dan

Hi guys. I'm faced with making a two part press mold for 3d printing. As it's hard surface, has lots of extrusions bevels, splines, and booleans it's made a mess of topo. Unfortunately its just not clean enough for the slicer software. Any tips for modeling for 3d printing would be most welcome.

Hello guys. The long awaited Random Walk Sub surface scattering has now been added which for some will be a huge addition to Redshift. A move from point based to Ray traced SSS was a move in the right direction but the new standard for SSS has shifted for some years with other DCC packages. Arnold known for its quality skin renders using the AL Surface was ahead in the game of realistic portrait 3D Art. Arnold moved to the new method Random Walk which is highly accurate and helped produce some stunning renders using this method of SSS. Redshift own methods for SSS just didn't hit the mark, especially for realistic skin rendering. This has now changed with the inclusion of Random Walk in which further improvements are on the cars I'm sure. The big deal for Skin and high frequency detail models is that SSS needs to offer the ability to produce back scattering for thinner objects, frontal scattering for the soft look of skin while being able to retain high frequency detail often lost when SSS is applied. In addition to this bleeding was often a problem in areas such as the lips, eye lids, and nasal creases. The difference with Random Walk is significant. Welcome. C4D and Zbrush is a great combo, been using them together for years for character work. Great start, look forward to seeing more from you soon. Dan

Maya looking more desirable as time moves on I must say. I had to upgrade my C4D licence otherwise it would have been left at a version that was missing some major key features added. Saying that I do still have my eye on Maya Indie as it comes with a rather otherwise expensive render engine with it. Dan

Welcome Theob. C4D does have a reputation for easier learning compared to some other software, and is especially good for Mograph. Dan

I found requesting a password reset when complete let me sign in after. I also had to right click (save link as)in order to download it. Dan -
Welcome to Core4D Cesar. Your plugins look very interesting, thank you I will check em out some time. Dan

The making of this film was hard work, I remember seeing the documentary on it. Dan

HI Mike, welcome, look forward to seeing them wires. 😀 Nice render, and totally agree, going through a project you learn so much along the way. Dan

welcome to Core4D. Look forward to see some works. Dan -
Totally agree. Business is ever more brutal not as if that has changed drastically, but that its willing to be that transparent that its ripping the customer off and expecting you to celebrate with them. The humanistic part found in art is ever lost in the politics of business from pure greed within the monopoly game. Adobe is in it to win it, and as long as there is financial gain to be had they will get in on it. Thats business and its cut throat to the hobbyist, they simply dont count. Dan

Well what can I say. Looks like my current R20 with Vray and Redshift perpetual has some extra value when its Subs or nothing. Moving forward, Autodesk don't look such a bad deal for indie licence. Dan

poll What training do you want for C4D, Zbrush, Redshift, Substance?
Rectro replied to Rectro's topic in Discussions
HI Dave, sorry for late reply. Thanks for your input, much appreciated. It will be sold via the cafe but not exclusively if three are other channels that could boost sales. Any tutorials' made myself will be under CGDreams franchise with support for Core4D. Lighting and composition are areas that can be covered without any program specifics such as in photography and general are school topics, do you think it would offer more helpful and offer more insight to having within C4D environment? The version number I wanted to add but I had used up my questions which is why I mentioned this in the thread post. Thanks. Dan -

Hi guys. I want to get a feel for the needs of the community regarding training? It would also be helpful to know what version of software your using now? Thanks, Dan
