  1. Show us what you have so far. Personally I would be more inclined to do this with a particle system and just give all the particles some spin from the get go.
  2. a) the realtime live view motion blur is only a rough approximation it wont be fully accurate until the final render b) the cone shape is a visual artifact of the hdr used combined with video compression. the sun and sky create more highlights on top of the ball which increases visual contrast, the video compression them smooshes similar colours together, this means the bottom of the sphere just kinda vanishes into the compression, leaving an egg shape.
  3. @HappyPolygonRS is now the default c4d render engine. This doesnt necessitate the removal of the older render engine as there's little harm leaving the feature as it is, but they naturally will get removed at some point in the future I imagine, probably not this side of 2030 would be my guess. @davetwoOctane is my full time engine, once a year or so I give RS another poke to see if its worth switching, but it isnt there yet from my POV. That said, its numbers will naturally keep expanding now that it is the defacto c4d render engine. The biggest issues for me is that I can keep octane running smoothly with almost any scene; when RS starts getting busy it has a habit of bogging down the entire c4d UI like the old cpu engines used to do. Or you change a material setting only to have to sit there for an entire minute or so whilst something somewhere updates and recalculates a cache. RS is going in the right direction, im just not sure if or when it will surpass the ease and speed at which I can work in octane. Their best bet imho would be trying to trump octane in other areas. Give me a stable art directable engine and I would have reason to use it, but if theyre only chasing realism and speed, im not sure they will ever take the lead there.
  4. Try ray epsilon, add or remove a zero. That said I gave up on octanes spotlights a while ago,
  5. Go onto paypal and visit the subscriptions page
  6. No, their web designer is just smoking the good stuff. Click on the buy button under "C4D + Redshift" and one of the options is to get c4d only for roughly half the price.
  7. No other software can open max files, theres pretty much a single option, find a copy of max, open then export from there.
  8. Like this? Disable tiling Change your single cubic map to 3 flat maps, all rotated 90 degrees as needed (this fixes the issue with the seams) Add a new plain white material underneath to fill in the new gaps you will see in the corners Under the object manager, select object > bake object Give it a file path to generate a texture, enable "keep uvs", select a resolution Click bake. Your flat projected circles will now all be baked down onto your existing uvs balls.zip
  9. Make a second sketch material, add it to the "hidden" section of either the sketch render settings or the per-object sketch tag, then change the bits by the yellow arrows. sketch hidden.c4d
  10. What wattage psu what brand do the multiple power rails split off from a single cable or are you using multiple sockets on the main psu body
  11. No idea but its super interesting that the reflection on the red floor keeps 2 consistent light reflections even though the sphere itself changes. Is redshift not doing blurred reflections of blurred reflections as a shortcut?
  12. imagine 1.0 on the amiga, my first 3d app 🙂
  13. You need to define what you mean by "move about in" or nobody will be able to help. Being able to look around requires a single rendered 360 image for each location you want them to look around from. But to actually move around like a person walking through the room, then you're looking at a real 3d project which the browser or a remote server can constantly generate new images from. The first one you can do right now by rendering a spherical camera. the second one is incredibly difficult and will require a lot of technical knowledge and project optimisation.
  14. Kuula seems to be a long distance away from someone "walking around", they're just 360 scrollable images like we've had for the past 20-30 years. Just open the spherical camera and render out your shot. You can then use any 360 viewer to look at them.
  15. There was an issue recently discovered where after ~10,000 click and drag actions in the viewport, c4d/windows/gpu driver would crash. This is a known issue and should be sorted in an upcoming patch. Until then, either close and restart c4d every few hours to reset the 10,000 clicks counter, or press alt+D to hide the axis gizmo as a workaround and use the XYZ locks or the shift key to lock to an axis.
  16. I doubt it. Most people will be on 12 month licences and its not like all the 3d animators all sat on their hands. If its not animating groots left nut then there's shampoo commercials to be made.
  17. Realistically I suspect most of it. Same with Netflix cracking down on shared accounts. subscribe or go away are the main options.
  18. *Shakes 8 ball "Acquired by Adobe in 2025" *shakes 8 ball some more The year is 2030. Unreal engine continues to grow and becomes the defacto render engine for most 3D work due to the balance of realism and render speed. c4d is still going fine and profitable, but blender has become the number 1 app due to the fact that it has been 7 years and the c4d student licences still don't work, thus there havent really been many new users. Octane 2029.2 still crashes every 3 hours, if you ask for tech support they will still blame your psu and gpu drivers. c4d 2030 still has no particle system, 90% of all new c4d features are now provided by Insydium which now has a higher monthly cost than c4d itself. 2035. C4D is now available as a plugin for the Insydium Suite. 2037, Adobe adds a new feature to Photoshop that people actually asked for 2039, Yīngyǔ xiànzài bèi jìnzhǐ, yīnwèi wǒmen de zhōngguó bàzhǔ rènwéi tā wéibèile rénmín de yìyuàn. Xí huángdì wànsuì
  19. Oh, I forgot to mention the surround sound tools were broken for 10 years, nobody noticed.
  20. The first time I have ever seen this tool used for a real job, congrats! 😄 Now install R19 and do the surround sound generator tools!
  21. If you go onto the teamrender server machine (not the gpu render node) and enter that path into the file explorer window, does it work? Also why is there a colon in the filename? It should be \\192.168.1.100\folder\folder\filename.exr not \\:192.168.1.100\folder\folder\filename.exr
  22. Theres no need to mess around with mesh deformers. Just go to the rigid body tag, then under the collisions tab you will find a 'Shape' option, set this to 'Another object'. You can now drag your low poly car into the box below and c4d physics will use the collisions of the low poly car to move the high poly one.
  23. From my tests the 3D editor is on average 3x faster than 2023. It ranges from 1.5x faster to... well it can be stupidly faster, it depends which features you're using, but Ive seen some projects hit 10x faster frame rates.
  24. If I ask you to go to the supermarket and give you a list of 100 items to put in your trolley, it might take you 20 minutes to finish the shop. If I give you the list but tell you you're only allowed to use the hand baskets and have to checkout each basket one by one, it will take you longer. If the shop has trolleys (24gb gpu) then it makes sense to use the larger more efficient capacity, but if they only have baskets (8gb gpu) then you're stuck doing the task bit by bit. tip: for octane users, this is what 'parallel samples' does. If you have spare vram, crank it to 32
