  1. That doesn't look like Tobacco 🤔
  2. I mean, AE JUST reintroduced multiframe rendering after like what, 10 years since they removed it? I don't think AE is good at benchmarking anything but single core performance 😄
  3. Hey man, I didn't mean this in an offensive or "it's your fault" way. I just personally have not had any of these issues that people often complain about, nor do I know anybody that had these issues. That doesn't mean that these problems don't exist.
  4. I will never understand this "updates break a lot of things" notion. I've been using Windows my entire life. Both personal use and commercial use. I can count on one hand how many times updates broke something and it was always minor things, never impacted my productivty. That said, Microsoft needs to work on their QA for their updates. Ever since they got rid of their classic QA Team and replaced them with some AI based testing garbage the quality of their updates has gone downhill.
  5. Yeah no. Studio Drivers should always work and I personally never had any issues with them. Occasionally there are games that don't run at all without the latest driver update but in that case I just wait. Lagging behind in drivers for years is not an option for many people, especially for those that use their machine for more than work. And guess what, it's not always feasable to have a dedicated 3D PC and a gaming PC on top of that. Why buy a system with one or more GPUs just to let it rot when not working on it and buy another machine just for gaming. Drivers have always been a pain in the butt and it always will be.
  6. Coronas Volumetrics are great. In my experience they just take aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages to sample. I've had scenes where my rendertimes went up by over 1000% over the same scene without volumetrics, even with single bounce. Compared to RS that is very, very slow. Then again, Redshift currently only supports single bounce volumetrics so...
  7. Just found this: Light Tracer Render Engine What's so special about it you might ask? It also runs in your browser, on your GPU. Something I just quickly clicked together to check it out: If you ask me that is damn impressive for a browser based render engine, and it seems to be fast too!
  8. Oh trust me, I know! I don't work in VFX but it's the same story in my field. You polish something to perfection and then the client wants something completely different... a story probably as old as the craft.
  9. It's a great Spot overall, but there's some really shoddy VFX work in there... The tracking on the bikers hands from 0:16 onwards especially. And there's more like that in it. The cinematography is great though!
  10. Meh, guess I'll have to take another look... and maybe try more than liquid sims 🙈
  11. Not only the pricetag, but also usually almost zero repairability / upgradeability, especially in their laptops. Not saying other manufacturers are much better but... some are. And cheaper. Especially if you follow Louis Rossmann a little you'll see that there have been some design issues in the systems for many years now and I've heard from tons of overheating issues with some of their devices. Not in usual workflow but the moment you start rendering something the cooling systems just get overwhelmed.
  12. I think it's mostly about hobbyists. I personally have a Houdini Indie license because Apprentice does not have the export functionality I want.
  13. If you think Scene Nodes will replace Houdini then I have bad news for you.
  14. Holy crap, already? First big project and you're getting featured... that's something!
  15. Can you tell me what you're smoking so I can avoid it? I don't know where you're reading stuff like this, but in my experience Blender Users are generally very happy and very outspoken when it comes to telling people how awesome Blender is, which can even be annoying at times. Kind of like this dude that always recommends you to use Linux when you complain about a minor issue in Windows. On top of that, you just cannot compare open source with software as expensive as C4D. People that pay for C4D have a right to complain on a reasonable level. Sure, so do Blender users, but in the end they're using something they got for free. Overall people will always complain, even if they literally have the perfect software at their hands.
  16. I was with you until this. I mean, zBrush in an interface discussion is kind of cheating, lol.
  17. LOL! A "service fee" during activation. What service? The 0.00001seconds of CPU time that the server needs to check if the serial is legit? What a joke, holy crap! EDIT: Now that I think about it, yes they need to check if someone is legit a student. But other companies do that for free as well. It's free advertising, free way to bind new users to your software. It's dumb taking money for this.
  18. I haven't seriously touched C4D in months. Both due to my job (switched from artist to mainly management position) and just not being able to afford the newer releases, so I'm stuck on R21. I love C4D and the entire community but I just cannot justify this amount of money for the occasional hobby project. I have Blender for that now. The second they would announce an indie version I would subscribe if it's a fair price. Hell, give us a non commercial version for the hobbyists. Just SOMETHING. Yes, I know there's the student version but I am not a student anymore.
  19. Sorry, that's just bullshit. People have different reasons to stay, be it not having to learn something else, not being able to financally afford to cripple their workflow for months or just straight up attachement to the software. Pretty much the only thing people complain about is not getting cool new stuff, that doesn't mean older versions are insufficiant for their workflows. It just means people are pissed that they're pushed into a subscription and not getting anything in return.
  20. That desk looks ergonomic af 😄
  21. I always just used mousewheel on these menus until I got the result I needed, so no difference for me here 😉
  22. In 3ds Max's case it's not only the subscription though, the software is also an absolute shitshow.
  23. Why? Because it locks people into C4D once they convert their assets. Other option is to have all files twice. Easy as that.
