Man, I just love the way Corona looks. Now if it only also had a GPU mode 😞
-
I don't knjow why, but I freaking love this one.

I know, but I couldn't help to point that out. German genes and all...

Can confirm. Tried fitting them to my old workflow, at least partially. Made everything worse. Just get used to Blender Defaults.

Don't underestimate what a good Thumbnail and the YouTube algorithm sometimes does. I've been getting this one stupid video for years in my recommendations the second I dare watching any video about C4D / Blender / After Effects. I've talked to collegues and they all know this video as well and have been getting the recommendation for years. Talking about this one specifically: That video has 19 Million (!!!) views. It's not even a tutorial, it's literally just a 1,5h long timelapse. I think it's entirely worthless. But it has a good title, and a good thumbnail. Sometimes you just need to get lucky with your videos and they just straight up snowball from there.

See, this is what I always hear about 3DS Max. It's also one of the main critiques C4D always get's. "Can't do much with it unless you buy plugins". I've had the questionable pleasure of having to work with Max for over a year now, here and there. I hated every single second with it. Many, many things C4D and Blender just do out of the box you need scripts and/or plugins for in 3DS Max. It's also unstable as hell and the entire UI is a giant pile of trash held together with duct tape.

I wouldn't use 3DS Max and "enjoy" in the same sentence. The software is a mess.

They remind me of this well known european Boardgame (called "Mensch ärgere dich nicht" in Germany). The playfigures there look very similiar. Triggers PTSD since I despise this game with a passion. Other than that great job though 😄

Aw damn, sorry I missed that... It's a French Horn I think? @Cerbera should know ;D because it's his model.

I've been busy learning and switching to Blender over the holidays. This is my first scene: Dowgate Fire Station in London! This is 100% Blender, no Substance Designer involved, all prodecural texturing. Textures mostly from Substance Source and grungemaps from the awesome Blemish Pro by thepixellab.net for detailing and breaking up the tiling. HDRI by Poly Haven. Reference was mostly a photo by Jo Underhill which you can find here: https://structuraleye.co.uk/dowgate-fire-station -
aaand it's done! At first glance you probably won't see much of a difference but I changed many small details and materials between now and the last time I posted. Also added some more details 😉 As with the other post, small "making-of" included! Brutalism_Animation3_FINAL.mp4

Thanks! 🙂 I'm not 100% happy yet but I think that's just details... I will post an update as soon as I'm ready 😛

So uh... I spent the holidays on gaming and... learning Blender. Funnily enough this is the biggest project I have ever done outside of commercial work. Needless to say that I really enjoy Blender. I think with that scene I got the basics pretty much down. Next step? Probably geometry nodes. BUT! The scene is not 100% done yet, but wanted to share anyway 🙂 This is a recreation (with some artistic freedom) of the Dowgate Fire Station in London. Everything based on this photo.
