I know. I specifically logged out to check how the ads look.

I'm sorry what? What "Pop Ups"? There are no popups. There are a couple of banners at the top, left and right. The banner at the top is debatable but the others do not hamper the readability in any way.
  3. That is true. But even without microtransactions games are raking in LOADS of profit. I am not against microtransactions per se, but you can't possibly defend the insane predatory stuff that companies like EA and Activision have been doing for years, especially in the sports games genre like FIFA and Madden. They ask for 60€ each year with some minor roster changes, literally copy pasting the majority of the games (there's screenshots of FIFA 20XX having the banners of the version from the year before on the internet) and deleting all the Ultimate Team progress for every player with each new year. It's insanely predatory and I'm glad it's finally being adressed by governments around the world.
  4. This is why I am a big fan of the maintenance model. It's kind of a subscription, but not really. It's closer to rent to own, but better. If I want a software, I can have it, get some updates and after that I can keep it and decide whether I want to get further updates or not. I totally understand the decision behind going subscription but the fact that 99% are not rent to own is my biggest issue, and the lack of perpetuals altogether if you don't like subscriptions. Yep you're right, we should get back to topic 😉
  5. LMAO what? Are you saying they're ending sales / rents of single plugins and only rent out the entire package? Wow, I mean the GSG guys were always kind of fishy to me (Chris Schmidt excluded but he ran already a while ago, I'm not surprised) but this is ... yeah. I hope they fall flat with that tactic. Subscription everywhere is already bad enough but now the plugin providers start out as well. EDIT: Just looked it up, 50$ a month if you go monthly. I think they're overstretching the value of their content juuuuuuuuust a bit here.
  6. Yes but what you can do for scenes like these is increase max AO distance for example. Gives them a very stylized look. Just try to play around. You can make scenes like these look really good with the default C4D renderer. More capable render engines are not something that just gives you easy looks, it's just faster.
  7. I think the trees look too geometric. Maybe distort their shape a little bit with a displacer. The store is also completely empty, the walls are insanely thick (look at those window frames). You could get a lot more out of that scene if you play around with AO and GI as well. As it stands, the image screams "I AM RENDERED".
  8. Hate to say it, but you got a typo there. It's "Inquisitor" not "Inquistor". Unless it's on purpose ;D
  9. If that tree is indeed very very big, then your grass is gigantic 😄
  10. Yes please! Love me some making of videos.
  11. It's not cheap... which is why I decided to be contributor. I personally don't care too much about the bonuses, although they're very welcome. I just want to support what helped me become what I am today and a couple of bucks a month is something I gladly pay for keeping a community like this alive 🙂 This site has helped me so many times even before I started actively posting.
  12. Too bad you didn't start earlier... otherwise we would still have c4dcafe.com as name :(((
  13. Hey thanks! I'm working on that, I just need to find a way to control it... the topology on this model is utter c**p unfortunately so many things are not easily done. I think I'll try Vertexpainting next to mask my areas that I want more wear on.
  14. Depends. There are Managers that save in the cloud (I use one personally and have been for years). There are also managers that save only locally, meaning all you have to do is regularly back that up in case your HDD bites the dust. As for the credit cards: exactly why I never use them, only if I have to, and for everything else I use Paypal and have been for over 10 years. Never had a single issue, nobody can withdraw money without my ok, no sh*** website can leak my credit card information.
  15. Password managers are your best friend, especially because you can get unique, generated passwords for every website and not have to worry about remembering them all 😉
  16. Working on an Ultramarine. Heavily WIP but I wanted to share nontheless 🙂 model unfortunately not done by me, wish I had the skills for that...
  17. Then at some point, inevitably, C4D users are going to die out, new studios are not going to use it, income will dry out. Sure, years ago when Blender wasn't as popular people just used a cracked C4D version to learn, as @Shrike mentioned above. But nowadays they're just going to use Blender, especially since it's only getting better and better.
  18. Huh, what a surprise. Can't see I've seen that one coming. Both of you have been and are doing a terrific job for as far as I can remember, so in that sense, thanks Hrvoje and hope you stick around and drop the knowledge bomb sometimes
  19. There is a tutorial series about Houdini called "Stop being afraid of Houdini". I heard it's pretty good 😉 Awesome that you're getting into that, it's something I'm planning on doing in the future as well but for now, it's still too intimidating for me... so kudos for actually diving in.
