Thank you. Can you explain how it works, and why my attempt doesnt work? Why do you need to put one cube in the Expresso? Why does the instance connect to the Object?
Thanks very much, but really I was trying to learn a little more about how Xpresso works. I feel like you should be able to select more than one node and add ports, that kind of thing.
Thanks, I've never used that before. My question was more of a workflow one for Xpresso really. I have looked up the list iterator but it seems pretty heavy, so I guess I will stick with my spiderweb for now.
Hi, I have been dragging all of my SDS objets into an Xpresso field and attaching them to a null with a Boolean switch on so I can turn the SDS on and off globally. This worksvery nicely.
My (basic) question is, is there a way of editing more than one node at a time? If I drag in ten SDS objects, I would like to select them all at once and access the 'Enabled' switch. Then I would like to connect them all at once to my null node. Can this be done?
Failing that, is there a global object for 'all SDS objects in scene' or something like that?
Thanks
EDIT
Look at this horror, it took me ages. There must be a better way.
Thanks Dan, I must say I'm still scratching my head. Can you tell me what a Substance is?
I think since Reflectance it's much easier to import maps from other programs as they all find a place somewhere in the stack, but this is based on my experience bringing textures in from 3DS Max.
When you say '1:1 ratio between the actual model and UV islands' do you mean to make the UVs all a comparable size to get the same detail?
And am I right in thinking I can model something in C4D, unwrap it, send the mesh to SP, texture it, export baked texture maps which I can then apply to my model back in C4D?
Can anyone clue me in on the workflow from C4D to Substance Painter and back again? It's something that must seem so obvious to pros that they dont bother to mention it. I have seen some people mention unwrapping in C4D first, others seem to apply basic materials in C4D then export directly to SP.
If I wanted to texture the lantern they have in their recent demo video, and I had modelled it in C4D, how would I round trip it out to Substance Painter?
Oh god, that's my evenings taken care of until 2020.
Congratulations to all at big M, by the way, must be a good feeling to announce. Enjoy it before everyone piles in to ask where the Bodypaint update is :)
EDIT - i was too late
Everyone is secretly expecting something pretty big, so if it is a limp release you can expect a megathread here on the cafe to enjoy your popcorn with.
For now, you can ignore Bodypaint, the animation tools, the character tools, Xpresso and probably the sculpting tools. You can concentrate on modelling, texturing, Mograph, spline creation and lighting.
