  1. Thanks CBR, as always a man of wisdom. Yeah, I found that the extrude worked as expected with the top half but couldn't understand why the Loft reacted differently. Now that you have cleared up the Loft issue, I will follow your advice. Thanks Again CBR. Jacobite
  2. Attempting to model “PS Waverley, (The last Ocean going paddle steam ship in thee world)” as part of a larger project. Anyway, my approach for this one was to use the loft to create the initial shape of the vessel. Using the included reference images, I drew from the Top View, half the image, copied and rotated the spline, connected the points to ensure the spline was symmetrical. This spline was copied and the Y was zeroed, then both splines were placed into the Loft and the second spline was offset on the Y axis. Problem is that both splines don’t blend as intended. Note the front and rear of the ship. I have tried multiple spline types and also subdividing the spline, with no luck. I am obviously missing something or perhaps my understanding of the Loft is wrong, but I just can’t get my head around this one. Any help would be awesome. Jacobite. PS Waverley.zip
  3. I use Daz3d quite often and have had many issues. Firstly, have you used Daz to C4D inside Daz? If not go into your Install Manager, from there you can install the free plugin. They are tons of tutorials on YouTube. Good luck Jacobite
  4. Thanks HRVOJE, that worked a treat. Jacobite
  5. Trying to match these cloned stones to roughly match this building. This is the final step of the model and it is confusing me. I have tried every mode of the cloner and even increased the points in the spline to use Vertex mode and nothing comes close to a smooth transition of stones. Perhaps the dimensions of the stone are incorrect and one of you Geniuses who loves working with insane numbers could come up with a solution. I suppose to fake it I could use a Loft to create one object then texture it. However, I would have to modify the texture to compensate for the gaps between stones. I did try this using a layer and a gradient in the texture but with no success. Any help would be most appreciated. Jacobite Enterence Test.c4d
  6. If you get a hold of MAX, a magic plugin is MAX to C4D. This plugin even converts materials from 3rd party renderers to standard C4D. Jacobite
  7. Yes you can. Put a Primitive into your scene. Let's say a cube. Change the size, now go into Edit (Just above the scale you just changed) and set as default. Jacobite
  8. I would think so. I use R18 for the bulk of my modelling then take it into R26 to render. No Problems. Some downloaded models formats that R18 can't load, I open them in R26 and save them as C4D then open them in R18. Only issue I have to worry about is compatibility with plugins but with a little planning my workflow works pretty well. Why do I still use R18? Because I have some amazing scripts and stuff that don't work in R26 and the interface is the best that Maxon ever did, in my opinion. Why then take the project to R26 to render? Simply because R18 dose not take advantage of the Apple M1 chip. Good luck and let us all know how you get on. Jacobite
  9. Looking Really Good CESAR. You must be dreaming of Splines and Points. Jacobite
  10. Thanks guys for taking your valuable time on that one. HAPPYPOLYGON, I didn't know about that one! I'll have to spend time on that, cheers. CBR, great video and again, taking the time to explain the functions the tool offers. I guess, the older I get, the more complicated life becomes. You guys are awesome! Jacobite
  11. Thanks Happypolygon for your response. Just a rough mockup (Pic 1). How would I find the angles to all these A-Frames, ok, most but not all are 45°. In (Pic 2) I have to put supports in the middle of the Frames. If they were all 45°, there are no problem but because they are not, then I have to find the correct angles rather than eyeballing it. Perhaps I’m using the measuring tool wrongly. While on this subject, if I want to draw a spline (Zig Zag) at 45°, that is simple using snap to grid. However, if I want to do 33, 20, 70°, then I have a problem. Only way I know is to take a cube and rotate it as a guide. Drawing a straight line is also not straight forward, again the only ways I know is by using a helix and changing the parameters or create a point and duplicate the point using control/command and dragging an axis handle or even draw a line and change the Y position on the second point. . All of which are pathetic, Really. Is Maxon saying this is the best it gets. Why can’t we have a system on the spline pen that once your first point is set and we move the pointer, we get feedback on length and angle? Maxon have created an incredible product and I wish they would address these issues. Anyway that’s my rant over. Any advice would be great. Jacobite
  12. Could one of you guys please enlighten me into the method to measure an angle? I have tried the Measurement and Construction tool with no joy. I cannot understand why this tool does not give the degrees of angles. Maybe I'm missing something. My head is nipping rotation a cube to try and find an angle. While I'm on the subject, why did Maxon not allow the user to draw a straight line with the spline pen and perhaps use a key in conjunction to draw precise angles. Seems basic to me. It strikes me that we have to find workarounds for some basic functions. Anyway, what do I know! Any help would be highly appreciated. Jacobite
  13. This is far as I got using Voronoi Fracture. I thought taking off all the tags (See File), texture each segment. Bring everything together (Connect & Delete) Then shape the whole thing into a pretty landscape. Jacobite Voronoi Scene R26.c4d
  14. Thanks for that Mike A, I was thinking that I could used the patterns from the Voronoi Fracture, make editable, Added Grass and Ploughed Field textures to each fracture. Maybe doing about 10 random at a time with the same texture. Grabbing the spline to add 3D trees and stuff later. Connecting all the fractures and adding a SDS or remesher. Then manipulate the object into rolling hills. Back to the Spline, Probably have to Subdivide and align the point to the mesh. Thanks guys for all the excellent solutions, I'll mess about and see where this one goes. Chers Jacobite.
  15. Thanks guys. for your input. I did do a Topo Map many years ago of the UK. Back when R12 and quad core was cool. I remember it being a nightmare in Photoshop once the tiles were stitched together. But my map only gave me the elevation at a great distance. I suppose Software & Hardware have greatly improved. Thanks everyone for your input. Jacobite
  16. I was messing around with the Voronoi Fracture, (Never really used it before). Anyway, it creates pretty good patterns. Think I will make it editable, texture each section, connect it together again then try and extract the spline. I have no idea how to use the Voronoi Fracture built in Shader. Anyway I'm happy to go down this route for now. Wakeup CBR! Jacobite
  17. Great solutions guys, HAPPYPOLYGON I had to read your post about 5 times, not because it was so complicated, but because I was rolling about laughing with your description. You should be on stage. Brilliant work from you guys. CBR, the idea of tracing and using splines is one I did not think of, that would also work. However, I would have to go in manually to colour/texture, Ah unless I make a textured plane and overlay the splines to use for trees and stuff. Very interesting approaches guys. Thank you all for taking time on this one! Jacobite
  18. Thanks Unstable for the ideas, I will give them a go. I was also thinking of using the plane with voronoi fracture. I think that would give me the Radom shapes needed. Then manually texture each individual piece. I will experiment tomorrow as I'm in the middle on a render. Thanks UNSTABLE Jacobite
  19. Hi Guys, just trying to get my head around this problem. Most of you know that what I do is always massive, like landscapes and stuff. Everything I do, I try to make at originals scale. I am planning another massive landscape, this time it will be Farm Fields, (you know the aerial photos showing the fields of different shapes and shades of colour). Using a simple image, would not really work because every image I have found has trees and fences in them and these features I would like to be 3D models. My other thought was to create a large plane, giving it the appropriate polys. Then using fields to create a random selection then inverting that selection to give me another selection. With both selections, I would have to use a shader to generate the colours in a given range. Then manipulate the plane to create the landscape. I don’t see this method working either because everything would be too uniformed. Anyway if any of you Geniuses have a solution to this or post me in the right direction, that would be great Jacobite
  20. Finally finished, this is what I love doing. Thanks to all at the CORE4D for pointing me in the right direction with some of the problems I had, you know who you are. Your feedback would be much appreciated, (but be gentle)
  21. Cheers BEZO, what would be a custom object? Just a photo of a Moon! Thanks again BEZO Jacobite
  22. Hi Guys, Is there anyway to change the Moon Colour Using The Physical Sky? Thanks in advance Jacobite
  23. Excellent MASH, Thank you very much. Jacobite
