  1. Wow! Especially impressed with their Xpresso setup!
  2. Maybe it's the dad in me, but I laughed too! Perfect name for it! You can at least name the script "Point Less" when you save it.
  3. This is great! Thanks @C4DS! Edit: Didn't realize there's no link to download. I'd be interested to Beta test for you if you'll send me the file!
  4. Depending on what you're animating, maybe you could use a Cloner and Shader Effector. See this tutorial: Instead of using a Gradient, use a Noise for the texture. Then you should get randomly offset animations. I made a test scene for fun (see attached). Bouncing Ball Offset Animation v1.c4d
  5. I was honored to play a very small role in this! Thank you for all you do for this community, Jay!
  6. I've used Roll-It to do non-dynamic rolling animations in the past. Works like a charm! I've never used it for a car wheel, but I imagine it should work well for that. http://eggtion.net/playground/cinema4d/roll-it-2017?lang=en
  7. Nice work so far! I like what you've done with the Mech. The eyes on the creature are looking better. I liked the framing and lighting you had for the original still better than this, actually. It works better if you keep your monster kind of hidden by smoke and shadow- makes him scarier. There's something about the material you have for the skin- I think it has too strong of SSS or something. It makes it seem like he's very tiny. Also, it may be the lighting, texture, or even the sculpt but his face lacks some definition and structure. Seems just sort of washed out and flat. The ears seem very thick as well. Anyway, you're doing great work! I'm just getting nit picky. Hopefully it's helpful and not just annoying since this is just a passion project.
  8. Hard to say without knowing more, but couldn't you just put B under a Null object and animate the Null's rotation? Or does it need to be dynamic?
  9. This is really cool! Am I the only one a little baffled that this if for a 1-year-old? Is he into Dungeons and Dragons too? :P EDIT: Here's a little critique. I love the detail in the fur and skin of the bat creature. Unfortunately, the teeth look like they were an after-thought, hastily modeled and slapped in. I recommend spending more time on the head in general, giving it more detail and form. I like the Mech guy, especially the modeling, but some of his textures seem a bit repetitive and the grunge is too evenly spread across all his parts. A pop of color in the paint job somewhere wouldn't hurt either.
  10. Seems like RealFlow is a good option then. Found this, maybe you did already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z6OvybHvXQ
  11. I haven't used it myself, but HOT4D looks pretty awesome, and it's free! I guess it's based on the Houdini Ocean Toolkit (hence, "HOT"). I'm not sure how much interaction you can get with the ship to the sea, but the waves and foam look great. https://www.valkaari.com/?p=640#more-640

    Barry BBQ

Hahaha! His apron should say something stupid, like "Beer Me!"
  13. Can't wait to see him animated! I think a version with a bite out of him is inevitable XD
  14. I just filled it out- was pretty painless :) Would be interested to see your results!
  15. No problem! I was actually going to recommend Redshift for the translucency of the leaves, but for some reason assumed you didn't have it (when I could have just looked at your profile info). I pretty much abandoned the built-in render engines in C4D after switching to Octane and then RS.
  16. Nice work so far! I think the biggest problem right now is the lighting. It's very frontal and high in the sky, giving the whole scene a flat, washed-out look. Bring the sun around to act as more of a back light or side light. Second, your leaf shaders need some work. Right now, every leaf on each tree is the exact same color, and many of your trees in the background are the exact same (and overly saturated, I think). They will need some translucency too, especially when you adjust the lighting. Third, the scale is still wrong. Your road looks like a 5 foot wide path because of the scale of the grass and dandelions.
  17. Hi Gene's mom! It takes a really dedicated, amazing mother to find a website like this to help her son. Cinema 4D is a great program and a ton of fun! Like Cerbera said, there are many, many free Cinema 4D tutorials out there from beginner to advanced. Vimeo and YouTube are great starting places, as well as https://greyscalegorilla.com which has a ton of really great quality stuff. http://www.eyedesyn.com/ is another great one that has a lot of character animation stuff. If he is very self-motivated, he can learn almost everything he needs to know on his own, but 1-on-1 training is great too, of course.
  18. Great work! I think the white part of the cake/pie could use some SSS and be a little off-white to make it feel creamy and less plastic. The raspberry is getting better, but I think the model itself is not quite right. That Blender tutorial looks pretty great. I also agree with @Wouter that the raspberry should be on top. The composition and focal plane are a bit muddled right now. I love that crust, but it feels like the pie is facing away from me too much. Composition stuff is pretty subjective, though, so take it with a grain of salt (or sugar, haha).
  19. No prob @bentraje! Yes, an attractor would be useful too. Thanks!
  20. @bentraje i'm not sure what you mean. If you put a cloth under a null, the cloth will still fall to the ground (or into infinity if there's no ground). I did a test where I animated the null with a cloth underneath and the results were pretty bad. What do you mean "have the child in Follow position?" Is there a setting you're referring to? Because I'm quite sure there is no "Follow Position" option under Cloth- only in Soft Bodies.
  21. Nice work! I'm working on a project now that requires semi-controlled animation of pieces of paper blowing. I'm using soft bodies because you can use the Force tab to get them to Follow Position. It's still tricky to get them to look natural AND go where you want!
  22. These are pretty funny, but some of the reviews for Amazon products are downright hilarious! For example: http://amzn.to/2B7jWHG This computer is probably total overkill for 99.999% of people, but i have to disagree on the 12TB of storage being overkill. If you ever work with footage, especially something like 8K Red Camera footage, you'll know that a single video file can be over 100 GB. 10TB hard drives are not all that expensive these days and certainly not what put this computer over the 20K mark!
  23. This is pretty great too! One of the first Wacom tablets, lol!
