  1. Can't believe I missed this - Awesome ! 🙂 CBR
  2. Welcome to the cafe 🙂 If you haven't already, have a read of 'How to post on the cafe' for some golden tips... May your learnings here be long and fruitful ! CBR

    Bionic Swift

Occasionally I see something so cool I'll post it here whether Cinema, or 3D in general is involved or not... Today's is one of those, and one to be filed under 'Inspirational', although I have no doubt that some 3D was involved in this video, even if a lot of it could have been (and was) the real life object filmed in flight. I may well model it myself - the forms in the bird are literally screaming out to be Sub-D modelled and animated... So with that said I bring you FestoLabs latest experiments with bioform engineering. Spkrs up - soundtrack as awesome as the rest of it ! Enjoy... Also don't forget to go check out their other robotic creations - the rolling spider is, if anything EVEN cooler !!! CBR
  4. The title of this thread makes me laugh - like it's been sneaked out like some sort of particularly dreadful secret fart... Sometime we can overthink things. It's just a minor bugfix update, and rather than worrying about which individual ones we may or may not need, we should just install all the updates, which only make things better... CBR
  5. I think in most cases you will need updated plugins, but I was able to transfer my existing layouts into the equivalent folder in the new 21 install to get those back, though in S22, because of the UI redesign I had to pretty much start again, which was no bad thing given that it was about time my layout got updated to include new things anyway... CBR
  6. No not at all - I meant only that following any announcement there is lots more to talk about !! CBR
  7. Yes if this thread started quietly with minimal speculation I imagine it won't be staying that way much longer 🙂 For people in the UK, kick off is at 4.30 this afternoon... CBR
  8. Lovely job with sculpting, lighting and camera work, RS rendering, and sound design in this epic 20 minute music video by OVERWERK... https://www.MAXON.net/en-gb/news/case-studies/advertising-design/article/lost-in-thought/ Awesome level of detail - right down to the dust... CBR
  9. All working fine today on Chrome - fast loading, no delays. Looking forward to the return of the 'latest comments' block though 🙂 CBR
  10. I'm still getting used to having all the profile and notifications stuff in a big bottom bar, but it is neater, and eventually I will stop looking at the top for it 🙂 CBR
  11. I think that color was #000910 CBR
  12. I am very much liking the new theme so far, although we not quite yet at the perfect blue black we tried the other day, which for me was just brilliant... What we have now is better darker, but still not quite as good as that blue black, which just looked sexy as hell... I will find you the swatch color of that if you like @Igor ? I like the little green OP banners too, though maybe they should say 'Topic Author' or even just 'OP', instead of the rather authoritarian 'Author of the topic' ? 🙂 CBR

    Hello everyone!

Hello and welcome to all... this... 🙂 3D is intimidating in general, but Cinema makes it just about as intuitive as something so complex can be. However, there is still an absolutely vast amount to learn, so good to get started 🙂 Fortunately there are lots of good tutorials online, not least those you get with Cineversity or on Youtube, and we are here to help with specific questions for which you struggle to find answers elsewhere... My suggestions are to start with tutorials on the interface in general before moving on to basic poly modelling tools, then textures, lighting, rendering, and lastly mograph, animation and all the peripheral areas, of which there are many... in fact there is enough here to keep you busy and learning for at least 10 years, so take it at your own pace, and learn the areas most important to you first. Spend a lot of time initially watching tutorials, but after a while 'doing' is much more important than watching. CBR
  14. HB Modelling bundle has one that works under R22 AND, unlike other scripts, can even regularise on curved surfaces without distorting geometry or disturbing surface curvature, which ups its value considerably ! CBR
  15. Indeed, welcome on board 🙂 May your learnings here be long and rewarding... CBR
  16. Greyscale Gorilla support are by far the best people to advise about this. Also I will move this to plugins category, because as you say, it doesn't come with Cinema, and as the problem is specifically related to the plugin, shouldn't be in the Textures Section. CBR

    Nebula Test

Yeah, what's not cool about blue smoke, especially when it's such nice smoke ? TFD might be getting fairly oldschool now, but I still like what it does 🙂 CBR
  18. Also note I haven't gone AWOL ! Just very busy on client work at the moment, but will back to testing for you soon... CBR

    TRUE SYMMETRY 1.3

It stopped being compatible with Cinema around version 19 or 20 I think, but not really an issue seeing as our native symmetry has offered exactly the same functionality for the last 5 years or so since the addition of centre-line clamping & poly deletion etc... CBR
  20. I get all my files from a cloud somewhere, but I want textures on my machine to actually load them from so that paths are established properly in the file structure... CBR
  21. Learning learning learning was the key for me. I had a drop-off in work that has (for now at least) recovered to some extent, so had some extra time to play with and have been using that to not only catch up with some personal 3D work, but also to start a new hobby, which in my case was learning orchestral arrangement pretty much from scratch. I still had (remote) contact with all my friends and family, so didn't feel that 'socially challenged', although I must confess to being somewhat reclusive and night-owlish even when I'm not in a lockdown, so not much has practically changed there. I don't watch the news at all, other than what I can't avoid seeing on social media streams, and a once a week visit to the BBC to see what the latest guidelines / scientific advice is. I suspect I am a lot happier and less worried by excluding news and media on a fairly wholesale basis 🙂 The cafe has been very helpful too - lots of covid threads have come and gone which have all helped pass the time and see how our 3D friends have been getting along, and of course if I can help anyone a bit more, then that helps (me at least) feel better about valuable use of downtime etc etc... Like you, I also tend towards depression and anxiety if too many things start going wrong at once, but have so far managed to stay on the right side of that particular black hole, although I think anyone freelance in our industry has some level of background anxiety going on, crisis or not - sort of the nature of the game we are in, but +20% because we're all in a lockdown ! But I'll still happily take that over job security and having to go into some horrible office all day every day to do something I am uninterested in ! 🙂 So, for me, the recipe for 'Covid contentment' is: Learn new sh** Push a lot of polys around, fully absorbing the zen-like calm that doing so imparts Minimise news Maximise music Keep talking to friends Try and help where you can. Drink a lot of tea / spend a lot of time with cat. Stay safe peoples... CBR
  22. Lols - I am so rubbish at Xpresso 🙂 Try this one, which is my next badly informed guess, but definitely does work ! Mix factors both set to 50%. CBR
  23. This is just a null (that also contains this xpresso) with user data sliders for L, R and Both, dragged into Xpresso multiple times, so no special nodes required. Obviously you can drag the sliders into the HUD for on-screen controls. I'd do it like that, but someone who is good with Xpresso will probably see a more elegant way... CBR
  24. You will need to show us your xpresso ! You should upload the scene file. CBR
