  1. Also, you would do well to learn from others' mistakes and do not take on a job that is outside your skill set. It is unfair to take on something you have no idea how to start, and then to expect members here to solve your problems on a paid job for free. I shouldn't have to mention that, but it happens alarmingly often, so I do.. No offence, but 2 months doesn't make you an expert in anything, and really, expertise is what you are selling... CBR
  2. It would help if your profile said where you were from :) I charge £60 an hour (UK), which is about right for someone of about 10 years 3D experience.
  3. Yeah, even without the wireframe I can see some shading errors there, indicating some modelling mistakes, but it's not too bad for a 1st attempt. Accuracy and edge flow are everything, and whilst you might not be winning either of those with this model, you are at least on a learning curve that will get you those skills eventually... CBR
  4. You avoid the 'paying on time' problem by not releasing final resources until they have paid ! Use render watermarks in your previews. Re Scope creep: It is important to sit down with the client at the beginning of a project and speculate about the amount of hours each project, or aspect of a project is likely to take. You must explain that for each stage, you will advise when time spent is getting close to estimate, and ask if the client agrees to more time before moving on. If they say no, then you must make them choose from whatever options you have made so far in the time allotted. CBR
  5. I take it you've all seen this one ? Oldie but goodie, with extra bonus for us lot of lovely softbody dynamics and snow collision... ...and this one in 360... CBR
  6. Are you gonna put the icing on the cake and do stitching for gloves, vests, and arm bands ? You know, like I could be arsed to put the screw holes in my EUC ? :)
  7. Oh that's wicked :) Great work !!
  8. Read the first post in the thread ? :)
  9. Massively cool. Boots are amazing :)
  10. That's nice of them, and you for sharing...
  11. It depends on whether your object has thickness. It should do. If it does, it's as easy as selecting the polys on the inside and dragging a new material on to them in the viewport. If your object has no thickness, then you are seeing the texture on the inside because it's the same polys as make up the outside surface, ie their reverse sides. You might be able to fix this in the texture tag, by changing the option that displays the texture on front, back or both sides of polygons. CBR

    MSA Renewal

Yep - 1 new version with each year of MSA bought... it's telling you that you are getting the new version at a discount, not that you need to give them any more cash til next year :)
  13. No - I looked quite hard for flaws, and was delighted not to find anything about it that annoyed me :) If that's your first attempt in C4d, you're off to a great start !
  14. Yeah I really like those. Top job dude. Also agree about daily renders. A week is much more like it :)
  15. Yeah sorry that was a typo - I meant £300, and I was being generous :)
  16. Ok, I tried installing it too. I concur it doesn't work. I suspect NItroman hasn't updated it for R18. CBR
  17. Yep - $50 might buy you a chair if you are lucky. I would charge £200+ to model this kitchen.
  18. Just checking you have restarted the program after installing...
  19. Ewww. But also well done :) I like the little push / collision before the needle goes in... texturing is excellent as well. CBR
  20. I've recently been noticing a couple of new C4D tuts in my YouTube suggestions, and having checked out quite a lot of them now, I can honestly say this man should be more widely known ! Excellent tuts, that often show various ways of doing things, and have a lot of information that even medium - advanced users might find helpful. Maybe he's on the cafe ? So anyway, thought I'd do my bit and share that here. Here's his tutorial playlist. for anyone interested. In his latest tut, he's modelling a wooden Starship Enterprise ! CBR

    Plugin for dirt

Cloner or X-particles for bigger dirt particles, TFD for dust clouds. CBR
  22. Hmmm. I'm on a PC so can't test the Mac version. You did a restart of C4D I assume ?
  23. You did unzip the file, yes ? I just checked it with R18, and it installed perfectly first time.
  24. Forgot to say: sIBL is better than just using a Sky object and an HDRI because it provides 2 separate versions the HDR image; one sharp and detailed for reflections, and another blurry for light mapping. This gives a very pleasing and grain-free GI setup, and is often complemented by a sunlight light source or additional lights which enhance the HDR environment lighting. It really is full of win for me :)
