  2. Despite the fact about the constant whining on the forums about C4D and that it was considered an amateur tool a decade ago it has now outlived a good number of competitors.

  3. actually I think they lost majority of their userbase to blender years ago... they actually had a concept design and concept art userbase that was strong at one point. those guys are now all on blender.

  4. I recall there was such enthusiasm years back around Modo, when C4D modelling tools were not updated and improved, even to a point where it was postulated that it will replace C4D alltogether. I have tried it myself and it was obvious it was completely built for modelling in mind, with little consideration for becoming more than that, and I suspected that it's architecture simply isn't suitable for such task. Either way, After that I never looked at it again, but seeing it being abandoned is quite sad.

  5. Bit late to this, but found the solution. Thank you @Hrvoje for the suggestion. I did end up contacting Maxon and they basically replied saying that couldn't help with any Octane related issues. The way I finally fixed this was by disabling the "Use ACES Color Space" checkbox in the Octane settings, and instead loading in the OCIO config manually through the color management settings. Basically going back to how ACES worked in Octane before they added that checkbox. Will check if anything has been mentioned on the Otoy forum and submit a bug report if not.
