  1. The great thing about 3d is that you can build most things you imagine. So just before I fell asleep I thought about this person on holiday that is involuntarily teleported to different locations. I know, it’s been done before but with different storylines. What would the set look like, what would the audio be? I decided on a vintage foldable chair. Because they pop up in a silly way and you always get your fingers stuck. So I modelled one, looking at lots of reference images on auction online. I found out these chairs are hard to rig. For audio I had a friend who was willing to throw down his foldable chair several times and record it. Thanks @wouter. Most audio fx were already in my library but Pixabay has some very usefull extra’s. I uploaded some of my own audio fx there in return. The setting of this test had to be a hot sunny dry place. Something dessert like. I found a suitable hdr panorama background on Polyhaven by Greg Zaal. Rendered in Cinema4D with Redshift and Xparticles.

  2. WTF Maxon? This is insane. I don't want redshift, it's such a laggy mess. How do You plan to compete with free software that is now superior in most areas with the price hike like this? C4D is lacking in almost every area, there is not even a built in fast rasterisation renderer, nodes are barely usable and not compatible with most of the software functionality. Dynamics and particles live in a different hardware areas and are virtually not compatible with each other. The core rewrite stuck in a limbo. How do You think this will end for you? The only thing that prevents my studio from migrating to Blender is object manager's simplicity. How do you think this will unfold when Blender fixes it's UX? Half of our 3D stuff is Blender native. None new employees with c4d skills. This ex Adobe guy ruined the future of this software.

  3. I wonder how much the features will diverge as we move forward, for instance what if Liquids will be only part of the Maxon One sub, or so on. It's funny how people said it's actually cheaper to own Houdini 20.5 Indie and Maya 2025 Indie combined over C4D (no capsules) at this point. Of course, Houdini Indie and Blender combo are more affordable than ever now.

  4. GAWD DAMMIT! and mcgavran literally said there would be no price raising when they released new particles system. guess he never said they wouldnt raise it after... stupid ass greedy corporations. they'll increase prices but employee pay wont be increased. what are they using the money for? digital products dont even use expensive facitilites... it doesnt cost more money to maintain a digital product... just a money printing machine to them... they dont care about how difficult its become to afford the cost of living today and make it hard on us users who actually want to use 3d software because its their passion and escape... shame on maxon as usual...

  5. Here is an incredibly hack-y way to achieve this if you're desperate 🙂 Lots of little problems, but maybe this will help lead to a solution. Probably better with a Cone driven by the light rotation instead of a cylinder for the Boole. -evan 07_31_24_Light_Material_hack_v01.c4d

  6. If you need an approximation of boat wake (not a fluid sim) then fields work too 146_Boat_wake(MG).c4d
