Hi all. Just found this article about a retired mathematician who found the so called "Einstein" tile. That would be a single tile that can be tiled gaplessly without producing a repeating pattern. https://arxiv.org/pdf/2303.10798.pdf Now I wonder if this could be used in CGI to use a single texture that never shows repetitions. I don't know if this is relevant in any way. I just love to see when year old math problems are solved in my lifetime and I like observing how abstract science finds its way to applied technology... And I had to tell somebody about this (but nobody in my immediate circles would care π ). Anyways. Have an awesome weekend!2 points

Redshift's Flakes-Shader is really nice, too. (A similar solution was already available via OSL, not sure if this is different at all, but much more convenient) A caveat: The Flakes-Shader goes directly into the material, not via a Bump-Shader, like every other thing. I know, I'll forget that at least 30 times π2 points

Aaawww, 'Thicken ' + Fields is exactly what I need for an upcoming scene. Very good timing! π Sure, I may sound like a fanboy, but I love the way the features build on top of each other... 904113844_Aufzeichnung2023-03-29181230.mp42 points

It appears gltf import was silently added too. I only caught that while reading the update to C4D Lite ironically enough.2 points

We got a Thicken tool guys ! Advanced mode is a wonder to behold... And updated Symmetry ! As usual Chris Schmidt has got us covered... but all thanks to Maxon modelling devs especially - lovely job there. Very nice to finally have a shell tool better than everyone else's, and to be able to have a better alternative to Cloth Surface π CBR2 points

Hi all We are proudly presenting our second plugin based on wonderful new nodes technology for creation of parametric surfaces CORE 4D primitives 2.0 https://www.core4d.com/ipb/store/product/44-core-primitives-20/ Some things are impossible to model correctly. Expand your primitives with these premium parametric surfaces based on pure mathematics. Fully adjustable, fast, seamlessly integrated as capsule or node they are fully compatible with Cinema 4D in every respect Package contains following 12 primitives: * Menger sponge * Mosley snowflake * Fermat spiral * Archimedean spiral * Hyperbolic spiral * Tan spiral * Koch curve * Dini surface * Braided torus * Umbrella surface * Sierpinski triangle * Taubin heart Requirements: Cinema version 2023+ is required Here they are in action1 point

After Blender got its own Shortest Path Geometry Node last year, many C4D users were anxiously waiting for a counter-move by MAXON. R2023 did not introduce a similar effect but brought an even longer awaited Pyro. Although it is still possible that the Spring release of C4D could introduce its own Shortest Path generator nothing is for certain as MAXON keeps its secrets well hidden (unless Dave McGavran π says otherwise). User 5698024877226 A.K.A Dominik Ruckli, has made his own python plugin and shares it for free here with a SceneNodes particle emitter .1 point

Thank you, Zeden, Much appreciated!!1 point

Surprisingly well I would have to say, specifically Advanced Mode... It is different to and better than any method we have previously had for coping with the tricky ones. I can still find occasional meshes that fox it, but it's a lot harder than it used to be. CBR1 point

Thx I try to look into it. I found everything around the mixamo ctrl rig workflow very fragile.1 point

I donβt use the standard engine but even on the slowest renderer that scene should take minutes, not days. Iβm 100% sure there is large room for improvements.1 point

I bought the Cafe nodes training when it was there, and (could be wrong) it might have been on Youtube for a bit as well, as some of the recent Cafe training ended up there in 720p versions before they changed their mind. Funny comment in the earlier thread There was a guy online who had done a good long Scene Nodes video for Youtube then on his website he said that a full Scene Nodes training course was coming from him. I wrote to him, hey, can I buy it, etc. He wrote back, he wasn't going to bother recording any further videos on it until Maxon finished their development. This was something like a couple of years back, and a fair point as it's still in development and Maxon have done another UI change for it. Rocket Lasso does periodic videos with it, Noseman does videos for it, not many others. Tim Clapham did a video a few months back on Scene Nodes, below, and the comments below it on Youtube show that most people still haven't got their heads around it. Sometime this year or next Maxon should just pay Chris Schmidt to do a Nodes from beginner to hero course, and either have Chris then sell it to make some more bucks, or put the whole thing online for free. Or, if they want, the Training Team could do a multi part series (like they do on Redshift, C4D, rigging etc) just on Nodes, here's how to get started. here's what you can do. And I appreciate a fair bit of this is already out there, but it's scattered all over. The learning process is part of what I want to see in any 3D app's ecosystem, Maxon are doing a good job with most other aspects of C4D right now, but the Nodes training for beginners isn't extensive. My general guess is once that Scene Manager is done and they have their Object manager replacement there for everyone to see, we'll get more training showing us what's what, but I'd guess this would be in 2024 or later, would love to be wrong.1 point

pm request Random traveler. Object that ravels in random directions Graph is two levels but simple : ) Inside memory node Folks, I kindly ask you post your request directly here instead of pm 163_Random_traveler.c4d1 point

RS node editor already has the new cosmetics. They more or less have the same UI with the scene nodes.1 point

Yep. Still a way to go there 'til we achieve completeness / parity with more advanced features there, but it has got better. CBR1 point

Integrate Kent Barber's Paint4D and Publis4D! and PBR painting intoBodypaint so that I can stay within Cinema4d and zBrush instead of having to switch to other applications....1 point

I hope they don't mess with Object Manager. It is the best in the industry. Blender literaly copied it from C4D. There are room for im[provements but if they go too far away with the nodes stuff they will destroy what I see as one of the main features of Cinema 4D: the Object Manager. Every time I have to work with a complex scene in Maya I curse and wish Maya had C4D Object Manager and tag system.1 point

I'd like a shiny new, full-fat, highly-performant particle system that also enables fluid and granular solvers - preferably working in a unified system with cloth, pyro, etc. I'm tired of paying Insydium and waiting for substantial performance increases.π1 point

In my opinion c4d lacks more powerfull animation and rigging tools, such as more flexible animation layers and more advanced skin algorithms like dual quartenion or something similar. xpresso is still very powerfull, however it misses some updates. I really prefer updates like these instead of ai. cheers1 point

Yes, particularly the fact that it is now a feasible choice for production asset modelling in top quality productions like this shows just how much Cinema's modelling toolset has come on over the last few years - it really is quite formidable now - Maxon have listened, and mostly caught up where they needed to, giving us the sort of everyday tools we used to have to turn to plugins to supplement. Of course there are still gaps, but I am encouraged to see that in every area they catch up, they usually do better than all the competition - Pyro, and in modelling, the Symmetry Modes being a good example of that recently. When I see open positions like those I can think only one outcome: The next release will have a lot of new or improved features. I hope the talented people from U-render can find a new home there.1 point
