  3. Most People underestimate the amount of work and money that goes into something like this. The not to be named big former Sponsor of this site not just deserted the c4d comunity but they also put all the pressure on Igors sholders. Yes this is a diamond, a diamond that should be of a huge value to maxon (that easily could jump in for the deserted former sponsor), but is doesn't seem to be. Now all over sudden Igor not just has to keep the forum running, now he has to pay for it and on top he also is responsible for its legacy. We got used to all the free sites, but we forget, that when you do not pay - then you are not the customer, but the product. Facebook, youtube and so on sell our data fo finance the "free" service. This is not working for a forum like this. It needs money. hard earned money. Like the 10 buggs a year that so many people are complaining about. And for a single Person it is even much more money. But that seems to be ok, as long it is not the own money. And Igor of couse has so much fun updating software, debugging bugs and taking care about the generall tone in the forum, that you can expect him to pay all on his own. NO - A forum like this can be gone in a blink of an eye. Very easily just by a stoped payment, a crash without backup or illness of one single person. And the diamond is gone with its legacy. Human motivation and recources are finite, as we all know. So for me personally a stable foundation is the most important thing. All the rest is nice to have. Igor said, that the forum is growing even with the paywall... so everything is fine, the forum is saved and enough people seem to understand the necesarity to invest a minimum amouont of money. And hopefully Igor is willing to keep on the good work for a long time. Every one of us can dig deep into his mind and maybe can find a new Sponsor for this site. We all are responsible for this situation, this is a community, not a big company business.

  4. Two points to be made: 1) I love the suggestion that ONLY subscribing members can post here while all threads are available to everyone to be read. Honestly, how can you expect to grow the subscriber base unless you allow potential customers to see the benefits of having specific questions answered by some of the best C4D, Houdini, Blender etc. artists out there. Also, anyone who proves that they are on some level a subject matter expert either by their work, their scipts, or their plugins should be allowed full access for free provided that they are answering X questions a month. Not sure how you would track that....but you get the point. Give the experts free access to the forum provided that they are helping the community. Remember that people who serve the community only increase the desire for people to join that community via a subscription. Does Core4D want to be the "hermit kingdom" or an open society? If you open it up and allow people to see the value, then the revenue will grow. 2) Really confused by what is truth or rumor around C4D Cafe being forced to change its name. Honestly, after 20 years of being C4D Cafe something had to have happened to cause the site to now be called Core4D. You just don't change your brand after building it up over a 20-year period on a whim. So, if being "forced" is a rumor then that implies they were not forced and if they were not forced, then let's change it back!!! If that idea does not sit well with anyone, then tell us why so we can deal with facts rather than rumors. Dave

  5. I don't have Arnold, but as I said, and now confirmed by file, problem is not that, so I can probably still advise. Look at the mesh you start with, vs the mesh you get when VF is enabled... Your detailing settings therein are causing huge shifts and changes in the topography AND topology of the surface in such a way that your surface UVs are necessarily pushed apart, and cracks show in the geo. And if you must have your detailing doing that, then I can't see how you can avoid the texture moving. There are a number of options within the detailing tab that definitely improve this, these ones specifically... ...so you could try playing with those in various combinations until you get a contiguous surface again, or you could keyframe the detailing so that it fades in rather than just appears in a single frame ? 6. Have to see the legalities of it. Where is it pulling photos (or stock textures from sites like Megascans and so)? Unlicensed.

  7. He's using an XPDeformer and delay. ( think I got the right time stamp where you can at at least see what's under the SDS)

  9. I suspect the video cuts and when he cuts back, there is a displacer on that sphere driven by animated noise. We can't see what's under the SDS. Don't know why he doesn't mention it but I don't think RS is doing that. CBR

  10. Use matrix honeycomb mode as source for distribution... (with effectors applied on matrix can be created nice effects, f.e. " live" creation of hexagons etc...) VF_hexagons.c4d

  12. There is also ctrl+shift method if you want to scale values using their actual values proportionally. But using shift for this is very bad idea because generally shift makes moves more coarse and speedup adding values too much - it is not as sensitive.
