  1. I think it would be a shame if the forum disappears. There’s not really any alternative anywhere else on the web. The sub Reddit for c4d for example is dead as a door nail I don’t see c4d zone doing much either. it really does surprise me that Maxon don’t see the value of having a dedicated forum for their software, that answers many of their users query’s a service they don’t offer them selves and don’t look like they plan on doing anytime soon. I get Igors frustration and stand point, the amount of work that’s gone into keeping the forum alive and kicking whilst simultaneously having support pulled, would leave anyone with a bad taste in their mouth. There’s only so long you can keep doing something before you think F - it. I agree having the forum as ready only until you subscribe would be beneficial, at least that way people can see what they’re getting and can make an informed decision about joining.

  2. Whats up guys, so as the title suggests, one of my followers on Instagram by the name of Enox, is an awesome illustrator from NewZealand link below. Said i'd take one of his cool characters/stickers and turn it into 3D, So here's the progress so far original 2d illustration included https://www.instagram.com/enoxart/

  3. Hi everybody, I'm Henning. My Brother Axel and I run a small 3D Animation Studio in Cologne / Germany, called Lumatik Film. https://www.lumatik.de/ We are currently a Team of 4, doing all kinds of film and animation stuff; mainly with C4D and Octane. Happy to be on board here! 😉 Cheers!

  4. Points are projected correctly, overshooting what you see is made by tangents. You need selectec each points with these "broken" tangents and adjust them manually...

  6. When do those circles start to grow and how many of them will be ? Should it really be circles or spheres ? The direction of the fields is impossible to depict unless you put those arrows in there just like the example. And to be honest I don't even know the significance of this orientation in the practical sense unless it's supposed to be linked to the charge of the magnetic field. In this case you could just color the positive charge lines blue and the negative red.... no need for arrows.

  7. While I’m not very active here, I drop by almost every day to see what’s up. But I would also prefer if the paywall was only for posting stuff. People sharing high-quality answers - for any 3d program - will always attract new people. Regarding ads, they never bothered me.

  8. Obviously only Igor knows the financials - but I think HappyPolygon has made a good suggestion. I suspect there are very few who will sign up for even a minor forum subscription 'blind' - particularly when there are so many free alternatives.

  11. I think this is a good middle ground (although I'd just bring back the ads). Core4D, as the former CafeC4D, has a historical value that the paywall blocks. If you google almost any question about Cinema 4D Google will show you some thread from here but non-members cannot read them. Which is a shame and really bad for students. Actually, amazes me that Maxon does not see value in this (the historical value of years of C4D threads) and withdrew their support for the forum.

  12. @Igor My proposal is to keep the paywall but let people see the content of the website for free. Currently everything is behind closed doors, no one can see what exactly we are doing here. Only those who want to comment or post a topic should have to pay a membership. This way we keep unwanted firestarters and trolls away. I don't think there would be someone willing to pay just to have the ability to rant for anything. You will also have a worthy revenue because more people will be willing to pay the small annual subscription just to post their question having seen the quality of help in this site.

  13. I have no idea about the financials behind it, but if I had the choice, I would go back to opening up the forum for all visitors. you can ignore ads, you can ignore hit and run questions, I dont think theyre a significant detriment to the site.

  14. Was browsing the modelling sub reddit, and noticed a post about someone having issues with using booleans to cut notches out for a watch bezel in blender, something i seem to be seeing quite a lot of recently (booleans not bezels) anyway after obviously advising him to model it properly/ increase the geometry , I knocked up a quick example in a couple of minutes of one simple , and relativity clean way of doing it. Thought it may help someone out if they ever come to doing something similar. nothing revolutionary here just quick, clean and easy, i worked out roughly how many segments i need using a disk, split off and modelled one section as seen in the images. To get the little notches i beveled the points with no subdivisions to get a diamond and added some additional cuts and loops before putting it in an array to finish off. nice clean, quad based result with out the use of booleans and/or clean up time etc

  15. You dont, such a concept does not really exist You make one shader/material which has both styles and you make the second visible by the vertex mask You can however make a polygon selection by a vertex mask, but you will not get a smooth transistion. Or you make a transparent material that is put on top of the other, but this only works on certain renderers, or you need to have 2 meshes which are overlayed but transparency is very expensive. The normal approach is 1 material.
