  1. I don't care for renderings – I just want to see the viewport buuUUURRRRrrn! (I love Embergen 😊)

  2. It looks like in the Random Field, you had Random selected instead of Noise. I don't know what Random actually does in this case. Again I'm not the best at describing this stuff but here it goes. Quantize: Think of it as kind of step (or maybe a linear?) function but with the values. For instance, if you tell something it can rotate from 0-360 degrees, then tell it to Quantize that 360 by 4 (on the Quantize slider), it will essentially divide the 360 by 4 which means the objects will only snap/rotate to 90 degree increments. In your scene you have Quantize set to 10 steps which gives it incrementally more options to rotate linearly. If you were to move that value down to 2, you'll see the cubes aren't having much fun. I think I did that with the uploaded file below. One or two will move from one rotational value to another, then back again eventually. Try messing with the slider as the animation plays, but first turn off the Delay to see what its doing. As you move the slider to give it more steps, you'll see more stuff happening. For things like dice or flat plates, you may want to only have it at 2 or 4 steps. It just depends on what you are trying to do. Delay: You could think of it as having the effect be a bit more lazy. Instead of going from one value to the next in a linear way, it lets it happen gradually, like it's an ease in/ease out. Try starting with Smooth for the Delay Layer Controls and dial it down to maybe 30%. 100% is too high and you won't see anything happen in the animation.. You can switch it to Spring which gives it like a secondary/follow through motion (I think). It's probably best to look at the Cineversity training and I think some from Greyscale Gorilla too for more basics on the mograph module. Things like quantize may not be things you use that often unless you need it for a particular job. coordonnées et base de données_RE_delay_quantize_color_1.c4d

  3. There's a node 'get nearest point on spline' that almost does what you want. Here I've got some user data to manually click through the points to get a % readout - Unfortunately, the node sees all splines as adaptive, but I think uniform would be better. It's still usable - you can set the % for a 2nd object and it lines up. splinepoints.c4d

  4. Oh...how I wish they would take a cue from Houdini and offer Cinema 4D Indie (a subscription at Houdini prices of $270 rather than $720 a year). Heck I would even opt for Maxon One if that price dropped for Indies as well to half price. Maya and Houdini have indie licenses for less than $300 a year. Blender is free. Not sure what is keeping Cinema 4D immune to this type of competition unless indies are just not that big a market for C4D. Dare to dream. Dave

  5. Well, we all knew this day would happen. The saving grace to it all is that Maxon is delivering the goods and that causes me to place more trust in subscriptions. My initial fear with subscriptions was that you would be paying for software that was not improving. That really has not been the case. Plus, they are integrating their acquisitions into C4D. That is huge (IMHO) and again leads to trust in subscriptions. Maybe I had Adobe fears from the "Adobe guy" but he is actually turning out to be quite the Maxonian in terms of the trajectory that C4D is on. Does he deserve ALL the credit? Sorry but no, that would be unfair to rest of the product managers and developers. But to be fair, he does deserve some of it from the acquisition strategy and the team he is building (they are still hiring) to support their internal development strategy. Enough said. So for how long will they make upgrades to R25 perpetual available? Let's say for kicks and giggles that R23 to R25 perpetual upgrades are always available. Honestly in 5 years will they still be selling it for the same price? That is not a good look. My hope is at some point they have a "fire" sale on an R23 upgrade to R25 before closing it out forever. A good way to end the perpetual run. Also, they should take the R25 new license purchase option down from their website. Imagine being a complete newbie to C4D, excited by the option to get R2023 perpetual as an upgrade and spending $3495 in an on-line purchase ONLY to find out it is not upgradeable. I actually added it to my cart and there were NO warnings directing you instead to a subscription. That will create some issues (I would imagine) for the Maxon customer service team. Hopefully, they see that problem and take action. Dave

  6. For anyone interested, I have a C4D project with all the blend-shapes that Moves by Maxon uses. That is possibly useful if you want to figure out what all the different blend-shapes are and what they do. Or in case you want to make your own model with similar shapes Face blendshapes.c4d.zip

  7. I've been using this workflow for my gltf export; C4D to fbx (with proper UV's) Create texture maps in Substance Painter Export to Sketchfab directly from SP If you don't use Sketchfab you can use Unity and a free export plugin made by Khronos Group that also works well. I converted over 100 CAD files last year for import into Three.js library, some with and without animation. I have not tried using Blender yet but others on my team use it exclusively and it also works well.

  8. Hello, thank you for your answers!! I don’t want to ask for help without stopping, but really I discover the tools, in the case "weight subdivision surface" I was lost and contextual help didn’t help me: I discovered that in fact you have to select the tag for that-This works, I know it’s silly, but I didn’t think about this "detail", my apologies, I always thought that the tools worked without tag but no, and on the other hand I thought that tags are active by default, but maybe some yes and some no, It’s probably case by case. Otherwise I tried the point as a shortcut but no result: my method: I select stops, then I select the tag, I take the tool "weight" and then a deformation occurs. Thank you very much for everything, I would be careful to try as much as possible before I ask the question, in which case I was far from imagining the whole procedure. But as long as it works. Thanks again. 2022-09-16_14-16-12.mp4 deplact_selon_les_normales.c4d

  9. There is no edge or point weighting currently on that mesh, despite the tag. The workflow is to select some edges (points works also) and THEN get the SDS weight tool and drag in viewport, or set a weighting level. As long as the SDS parent is on you will be able to see result directly, but you can also see an indication of the weighting by selecting the weight tag created when you first use the weight tool, which works regardless of SDS activation state. Judging by some of the questions you ask, you may not be aware that there is context sensitive help available for any tool or command in Cinema by right clicking it and choosing 'show help' ! Always check the manual, on the whole, before posting... CBR

  10. Oh right... I have no idea how you'd do that 🙂 Somebody better than me with Xpresso will probably know though, possibly @jed?... CBR

  11. With regret its sad to say that Maxon sales have answered my question regarding perpetual license and future upgrades. They said that R25 is the last perpetual version sold and its not eligible for upgrades now or in the future. This also accounts for perpetual licenses regarding upgrades. This rather simple question has been rather difficult to get an answer to, but now we have it. R25 is a very solid decent version, but as for the future someone like me who do this part time just wont fall on the subscription model if you also need RS GPU renderer to rent. On the up side Maxon are delivering the goods, and are pushing Cinema 4D in the right direction. R25 is the latest available perpetual version – we have been old that there are currently no plans for any further perpetual releases (R25 became available last year and remains available with no upgrade/later version released this year).
