Hey. The spheres in my example are only using a glass shader with a small ior value and an opacity fade over time and nothing more. Everything else is an illusion created from that, so I would just play around with an RS glass material with different ior settings and maybe add some noise or displacement if needed. I didn't bother doing any of that because I figured you would customize to taste with RS, and if more is needed then maybe play round with an expanding sphere of whatever kind of volumetric fog or shockwavy looking stuff that RS may offer.1 point

That seems like a good idea except middle mouse roll is primary zoom control on PC, so that wouldn't work without also changing that, and, using that all the time I couldn't possibly vote for that change ! I'm also a bit resistant to adding any shortcut-exclusive content - that is perhaps the first and foremost reason I dislike Blender and the overall way it works, so not keen to see that aspect moved into Cinema. We do have limited shortcuts for Loop Cut (or any other similar tool) in that if you select a value in attributes you can use up / down arrows to quickly change values, which, whilst perhaps not as quick as a mouse wheel roll, can be quicker than typing stuff in... Figured out alembic does not support generating geometry past the first frame in mograph! I used Nitrobake however and got it to work with that.1 point

Totally yes. Most especially if submitted as an idea in their ticketing system, but also by suggesting it here where lots of Maxonians hang out with varying degrees of regularity ! 🙂 CBR1 point

Hi there! We are very happy to inform you that today we released a new version of U-Render. With version 2022.8.10 SP1, U-Render introduces support for Cinema 4D 2023 along with improved stability and accuracy. Additionally, this update improves the licensing system by allowing a larger time discrepancy between the licence server and the local device. Check out all the details and download it here. Contact us here or via email, if you have any questions. Have a nice day! Elena from U-Render1 point

Vent warning: I'm old and out of touch with the way things are today, but I really don't like the way companies provide support anymore or the lack thereof. I still haven't gotten Insydium's Fused plugin to load in C4d 2023. I can’t find hardly any info on the Internet regarding whether the plugin loads or not. (Edit: I found one post on Reddit.com that two people had the same issue, but the moderator removed the post for some reason.) The ONLY thing I’ve seen was within my Insydium account, which states that if you have trouble loading the plugin on a Windows system, try installing several C++ redistributable, which I did, but with no change in result. I looked around the Insydium site and they seemed to have removed any way to contact them for help. They have a link to Discord, but Discord is worthless to me. I don’t see how anyone can use that site for support. What happened to companies providing support for what they make??? Since I’m apparently on my own, I thought maybe the problem is with my 2023 installation. After all, I did get an install error the first time trying to install it via the Maxon App. However, the second attempt completed installation properly. Using the Maxon App, I tried to uninstall C4d 2023 and wouldn't you know it, it gives me an error, saying something went wrong and it can't be uninstalled. I tried several times, but still a no go. I figured since these licenses aren’t cheap, let me call Maxon and find out if there is something I should check. But when I select 2 for technical support, it just says go to the web site and research our knowledge base or open a ticket -- Goodbye. Wonderfully dismissive. But at least I can submit a ticket. That's a 100% better than Insydium who doesn’t care at all. How can you charge hundreds of dollars for something and say if it doesn't work, ask someone else. Don't come back to me. But that seems to be exactly where we're headed and have been for a while.1 point

Wondering if anyone knows or has heard a rumor about a Zbrush Update for 2023. I would really like to see Maxon work some magic and revamp the UI to something that makes sense for new users.1 point

Second that. I doubt they'll revamp the whole thing though, they're too far down the rabbit hole. Plus, I think the zBrush-Comnunity suffers from collective Stockholm syndrome 🙂 But maybe they can offer an alternative UI, like 'Blender for Artists', for example. Still, a ton of work. But if anybody could do it, it's Maxon, so I hope they will ..1 point

I'm putting most of my energies into Houdini these days - and finding it quite enjoyable.1 point

could try something like this (expanding on Cerbera started) Add a plain effector to the cloner just with rotation. I set it to 1440 on H. Add a random field to animate them rotating. Use a quantize of 8 (1440/8 = 180 degrees). This has them trying to snap to right angles. You could also try 360 for rotation and quantize of 4. Then use a delay with either a smooth or spring, dialed down to about 20 or lower to help sell the spin/rotate effect. Without the delay you won't see any movement because the quantize is snapping the animation 180 degrees. The delay helps in this case to show it. coordonnées et base de données_RE_delay_quantize.c4d1 point

Ok, if you want to recreate what is in your file, then we are best off doing this with a cloner, and (optionally) one or more effectors. However that is not what you asked, as it doesn't involve any randomness or any rotation ! First step - make 1 cube and place under cloner, change mode to Linear, tell it how many clones you want, and which direction they should go in. By default they will go up on Y. If you want them stepping up at 45 degrees like that then you would need to enter the same value in one of the other directions as well like below. OR you could use a single value to clone a straight line of them, and then use a Step effector, for example to offset them instead. Many many ways to get that result... If you are wanting those rotated randomly (in place) now then you can select the cloner, and add a random effector, set to just modify rotation. The manual will elaborate on the intricacies of that... CBR1 point

I am one of the disappointed customers that were hoping to see perpetual licenses still on sale, mainly because I wanted S26 features. As a hobbyist, with two children, I sometimes can't do anything in C4D for months, so the subscription model does not match my needs. And I think it is right to expect SaaS to expand to more softwares, maybe even OS, there is no limit to human greed. But I don't believe that the cloud will be a long term solution, because everything going to the cloud would raise a lot of internet bandwidth issues in many places in the world. That would also require so much power to run more servers everywhere that the impact on climate change would be worse. And it is not a minor problem.1 point
