  1. To be fair Cinema is no slouch in this area either ! Not only can we scatter using cloner multi-instances, vertex maps and fields, but hair can be optimised to render pretty quick too. And if you are up in R25 you have dynamic scatter for placing other plants amongst the grass. I've seen some properly epic fields and pastures done this way... CBR

  3. Yeah, Corona Render also has a Scatter tool and Camera Clipping too. Helps reduce the load with objects off-camera. The processing is surprisingly fast as well. I'm sure C4D can do it also, but how fast.? Are you doing animation? I'm going to assume you've tried closing sections of grass (mesh of a section of grass) and clone them around and randomize a few settings. This technique works best with mostly flat areas however. I did this image in Corona before it had the Scatter tool. The grass was cloning grass meshes and mixing in some other plants.

  4. It looks very promising : )

  5. Made some progress last weekend on the wrinkles in the leather and added some primary details on the armour as well as some extra damaging. I also added more of the metal rings and rope on his sides, which you can't see on these renders.

  6. I concur, and cannot explain that. Your 'glass' doesn't have thickness as perhaps might be ideal, but that shouldn't make a difference to reflection when there is no transmission, and if I add some I still can't see that sun in the reflection. CBR

  7. To be fair, anything that can be done regarding grass in R25 is easily doable in R18. No need to upgrade just for this.

  8. This one is older than the series above, but maybe even a little better. I highly recommend them both. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6prOI2CI0KXnSSdvvutIIYZIPtEKaTId

  9. Yes - this is correct. The RS sky model is based on an analytic model of daylight. You can select the older 'Preetham' model, or the newer 'Hosek-Wilkie' model. The latter is recommended. However... Rs also supports the C4D Physical Sky shader as well. So if you want more artistic control you can use that. One note: The C4D physical sky is baked to a texture, so you will need to increase the texture resolution for detailed results - typically 8k+. I'm not in front of Rs right now, but there is a setting in Rs render settings to set the resolution as a default, or you can set it in the material texture node. ** Having written this I'm not sure if the Phys Sky is supported in the new nodes shader system, or just in the older Xpresso shader graph. I'm using the latter in R21.

  10. Hi fellow artists! Just sharing some work in progress pics of my latest 3D print project which is going to be awesome! Years ago I made a 3D model of myself into a knight using Cinema4D, Zbrush and Substance painter for the textures: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Ok6P8 It wasn't fit for printing since the parts weren't watertight. So I've been working the past couple of weeks on making it solid, adding a ton of extra details and textures. Still need to add most of the metal parts like buttons and buckles, rope and leather straps. The polycount of this is 120 million at the moment, completely overkill probably (and surely not fit for the 99 poly challenge, lol) since the small textures won't be visible but I want to see what my system is capable at the moment and how many detail my MonoX printer can achieve. After that, the lower body, the sword and redoing my head and add all the facial hair. The figure will be around 40CM tall without the base, which will most likely be ruins and rubble. First I have to figure out how to split everything up so all the buckles are able to interlock. For now I think it will be made out of 6 parts: -Upper body -Arms with shoulderguards -Gloves -Head -Pants with boots -Sword Having a lot of fun and getting quite some positive energy out of it as well which is really important since I'm having some tough times at work and personally. Hope you all have a nice day!

  11. Yeah, the pages are a bit disconnected. Which is quite ironic 😆

  12. My preferred method is "oh, I think I remember making that material 3 years ago, let me go check an old file and steal it from there"

  13. Honestly, for all the great content that Entagma put out, I would not consider them to be good instructors for beginners. They have been steadily attempting to simplify their content to appeal to larger audiences, but they still use legacy workflows that are unnecessarily complicated. In particular, this video is an unstructured, on-the-fly recording, and as such has many inefficiencies. I have watched that video in its entirety and there were several moments that could have been tackled in better ways, so be warned before investing the 90+ minutes that that video demands.
