  1. Just catching up with Core4D / C4D Cafe as I haven't visited in a while. Myself and Crew Reynolds started C4D cafe. We were both trueSpace users and both into animating. We could see that truespace's days were numbered so moved over to Cinema 4D. In fact it was about 10 years that we then later me on my own ran the cafe before I sold it and moved on. I'm not actually doing any 3D these days and only have Blender installed on my computer and that's just to view a couple of model files. People may recall that I was modelling Lego motorcycles in 3D. That's developed to actually modelling them for real. I currently have about 55 Lego Technic motorcycles and now design my own. I exhibit them at Lego shows here in New Zealand. Getting back to the topic. I would be fine paying a small contribution to keep this place going. I know I had to dig into my own wallet a few times to pay the bills. Running and maintaining a forum on its own server isn't cheap. Cheers Nigel / 3DKiwi

  2. you could start by moving your C4D preferences folder completely out of your profile and have S26 rebuild them when it launches. Edit | Preferences: At the bottom click on the Preferences Folder. Move the whole Maxon Cinema 4D R26 folder to your desktop. Then try to launch S26 again. Sometimes things in your profile get corrupt. Or, in some cases, old plugins will not work in newer versions and can actually freeze or crash C4D. If it works with a fresh profile, you can then drag your plugins folder in and see if it loads. Next the library, and so on. Eventually you may be able to track down the culprit. I had to do that with the plugins folder. I found a couple plugins which weren't compatible anymore with the newer version. It was time consuming but I tracked it down.

  3. I can only speak for my experience. The reason why I went with Houdini is not necessarily how "cool" (i.e. all the FX (pyro/fluids/particles) you can deliver) or how "procedural" it is. It was merely because it solve a problem. As my projects became more complex, I couldn't do it in C4D any longer. Or if I can do it, there is just too much work around. A straightforward example is the clones. In C4D, you can't manipulate the individual clones freely. I mean you can but from my experience you'll probably realize its not that manageable. With Houdini, with the power of attributes, you can literally do anything. When I bought xParticles. I thought okay I don't need Houdini any longer. But not really. No offense for Insydium. xParticles is great. It can deliver of course. But in comparison to Houdini of building a system for sustainability, xParticles just can't compare. For example in Houdini, you can do post correction on your sim. Which is a massive plus. You don't have to just fully rely on your initial parameters.

  4. Thanks for that, it seems we have a small problem with the Triangulate node, please find attached a version that does work without it. PolygonSurface 0.0.2.zip

  6. Please find attached a general Polygon Surface asset, just add the ZIP as a database. PolygonSurface.zip

  8. Great work Igor - Broad concepts for beginners. Any ability to remap C4D navigation keys to Houdini (or not). First steps and practices to let users settle in to the software. Suggestions on how to 'get' Houdini, what you should try and learn first, which parts you should avoid looking at till later.
