  1. Great setup πŸ™‚ I took the liberty of turning it into an Object Group Capsule, this makes it available as a Generator with an AM interface object in the Object Manager. The parameters are mostly named how i found them in your setup. sn_220520_001.c4d

  2. In much the same sort of way that I enjoy pushing polys around I also enjoy watching other people do much the same, but with small piles of sand and various geometrically proportioned rakes. So sharing this, for interest's sake mainly, presuming as I do that here I may find a few like-minded souls who would enjoy it merely for the sheer zen joy and relaxing sake of it. In some ways I find myself wishing that it had @Hrvoje's dulcet tones commentating, for the ULTIMATE in zen meltiness, but the gongs will have to do πŸ™‚ This is one of my favourites... but Here's the whole playlist... But of course I can't help thinking how we would replicate such things back in 3D land, so it's in a discussion thread so once we've all stopped appreciating this sort of thing at the aesthetic level we can hear how everyone might go about that in their various DCCs of choice... I think in Cinema we'd have trouble doing it with actual particles (certainly without XP help) but I wonder if collision deformer could get us a decent start... and then there's the 'double pivot challenge'... 3. I'm gonna go out a limb here and assume Maxon doesn't follow your posts religiously for a development map. Everything you've described in this thread has been great - using the strength of one software to import into another! Maxon knows that's how the 3d world works. Let's be honest about how competing software evolves. Users demanded additions, and we get them or move. Those who needed it before Maxon implemented their needs moved to other software, like John did... but I think his argument is disingenuous. Blender went through enormous changes - like left mouse to select. Thievery? No. Pressure from users and market realities. Some things just work best a certain way.

  5. Those are the Viewport statistics, which are not the ones to rely upon for modelling. I would recommend disabling those altogether, and using these options instead, which give a reliable count of what is going on in your scene !! The VP stats have never made any sense to me, and don't appear to be showing anything helpful, modelling-wise. CBR

  7. I've been following this excellent thread for a while now, but haven't had the opportunity to do it justice. I was able to get decent results using a fairly simple method. It basically involves creating a reference cone that is easy to UV map, and then transferring those UVs to the actual cone, modeled from the circular grid.

  8. Could we have less of this sort of thing, pls ? People really don't have to explain why they are here !! At a time when we want as many people here as we can get, and are trying to welcome everyone from other software, encouraging people to not be here, or making them question why they are seems... contrary to that endeavour. And whilst we should definitely encourage everyone here to help where they can, I don't think we can usefully criticize people who, for whatever reason, don't spend a lot of time answering questions... not everyone has the time, skills, patience, or inclination !! 9. I appreciate the extended Maxon family here who are trying to pump out really great solutions... HRVOJE, Cerbera, SREK, Fritz, Igor and more. The brainiacs behind the scenes. I have to say I agree. There are some talented C4D minds here and often it gets obscured by some with self-absorbed opinions unrelated to the USE OF C4D. I could see why Dave doesn't show up, when it's been made clear by some regulars on here that he is just an Adobe shill.. maxon sucks.. subs are ass.. C4D is useless blah blah blah *diarrhea of the mouth* It's really not worth his time. I mean I'm all for free speech but when it negative, doesn't promote the topic of the site's intentions, and just comes off whiny, then what's the point? At the rate it's going.... it'll turn into C4DCafe. While I hate slacks, discords and ADHD sites like that, Thanulee has a point. GSG, Rocket Lasso and a few others are where people are migrating to because of the interaction. Also, more importantly... because people are striving towards the same goal on those sites... producing kick ass works of art. They're not trying to whip out their members to show everyone their "Property of Blender" tattoos... Thanks Thanulee ( motionpunk \m/ ) for reminding me of those servers. I need to start getting more involved with those again.

  10. Hi everybody, we have recently updated C4D Tabs to version 1.3. Main reason was the release of C4D S26, of course. We had a bit of bad luck with the initial release of C4D Tabs, as we released it only a few days before Cinema 4D R25. Of course the new project tabs in R25 rendered the name providing feature of C4D Tabs kind of redundant. Why did we release it nevertheless? Works in C4D R17+ (so you can get a bit of R25 feeling in older versions) Session Management does not sound like much, but actually it is my preferred feature and it works independently of C4D Tabs' project switching (I mean, you do not need to use C4D Tabs dialog, if you do not want to). Everybody likes thumbnails πŸ™‚ Check out C4D Tabs website or C4D Tabs plugin page here in Core4D. Cheers, Andreas NOTE: This announcement got tagged "Xpresso". C4D Tabs neither has something to do with Xpresso nor does make use of Xpresso. This is not done to mislead anyone. But setting a tag is required and "Xpresso" is the only tag to choose from...

  11. Igor..... I think we need to take a page from the Maxon playbook and embrace NEM - Negative Enforcement Marketing. If people still want Core4D for free, they can have it but they will not get all the benefits of paid subscribers. Some ideas of negative enforcement techniques to get people to embrace subscriptions: Do whatever you can to bring ad revenue to Core4D. For those members who contribute or pay the 10 euro's a year, they do not get ads. Allow ONLY subscribers/contributors to post/view to certain threads. Hot new thread on how to Poach Blender? Sorry...limited to subscribers only. Forum color schemes: Non subscribers only get yellow text on a white background like this and everyone else gets whatever colors they want non-subscribers only get Point 8 font size. Non subscribers must first listen to a 3 minute ad from the people that bring you Zupoo every time they join the forum - because colon heath is important and we all seek relief from toxic poop. And after reading some of the posts on this thread, I am pretty convinced that there are a lot of members struggling with toxic poop in their system. Non subscribers get different spell check capability: "Nodes" becomes "nose". "Booleans" becomes "bowling". "Vertices" become "vertical". "Topology" becomes "topiary"...you get the idea. Well....maybe on the first item is a good idea. πŸ˜„ Dave Dave
