I think we are discussing two different topics, and then (hopefully) this will be my last comment on the matter. I'm trying to learn to use metaballs in Blender to create an animated 2D flame for a torch, and I think I'm just procrastinating. My issue has nothing to do with C4D transitioning to subs. After that happened, I moved to Blender. Simple as that. If I did any whining about that, it was for a very short time period and I moved on. If that is their pricing model, and they are happy with it and users and happy with it, I don't see the problem. People should make a choice and let it go. Seriously, I agree, it has been years. My issue is with the leader of a large corporation making a joke at the expense of the small guy/team having financial troubles just so he can say "Hah. Told you so. Who needs subscriptions now?" In my opinion (and this is just my opinion - it doesn't have to be anyone else's opinion and it doesn't have to be debated because there is no right or wrong perspective - to each their own), its petty, especially since Maxon doesn't have their own forum and this forum gives them so much free exposure. This site may welcome all software discussions, but it is still dominated by C4D users. Even if he felt that way, be a bigger person and just don't say it. And, again, this is just based on my perspective. Igor seems cool with it, so I guess that is all that should matter.3 points

Using Blender for a year and I finally, finally made my very own Blender Donut... It could be way better, but making these is not these most thrilling thing so here it is. Not touching it again 😛 And also some quick variations. Just for the sake of it.2 points

Igor..... I think we need to take a page from the Maxon playbook and embrace NEM - Negative Enforcement Marketing. If people still want Core4D for free, they can have it but they will not get all the benefits of paid subscribers. Some ideas of negative enforcement techniques to get people to embrace subscriptions: Do whatever you can to bring ad revenue to Core4D. For those members who contribute or pay the 10 euro's a year, they do not get ads. Allow ONLY subscribers/contributors to post/view to certain threads. Hot new thread on how to Poach Blender? Sorry...limited to subscribers only. Forum color schemes: Non subscribers only get yellow text on a white background like this and everyone else gets whatever colors they want non-subscribers only get Point 8 font size. Non subscribers must first listen to a 3 minute ad from the people that bring you Zupoo every time they join the forum - because colon heath is important and we all seek relief from toxic poop. And after reading some of the posts on this thread, I am pretty convinced that there are a lot of members struggling with toxic poop in their system. Non subscribers get different spell check capability: "Nodes" becomes "nose". "Booleans" becomes "bowling". "Vertices" become "vertical". "Topology" becomes "topiary"...you get the idea. Well....maybe on the first item is a good idea. 😄 Dave Dave2 points

Can't tell because the file is missing texture images. Please save the file using "Save Project with Assets"1 point

Welcome to the Core ! You will almost certainly have to include the scene file before anyone can help with this. CBR1 point

Could we have less of this sort of thing, pls ? People really don't have to explain why they are here !! At a time when we want as many people here as we can get, and are trying to welcome everyone from other software, encouraging people to not be here, or making them question why they are seems... contrary to that endeavour. And whilst we should definitely encourage everyone here to help where they can, I don't think we can usefully criticize people who, for whatever reason, don't spend a lot of time answering questions... not everyone has the time, skills, patience, or inclination !! They may have done, but I don't like them for their real-time-ness ! Most modelling questions I answer here (for example) would get a far inferior answer in real time than they do after much-considered thought and well-prepared diagrams / videos / other assets there is time for in a forum. Real time means you tend to get the first idea out of people's heads, and no1 has time to try stuff first... though I appreciate the corollary of having lots of brains answering in quick succession, and the wisdom of crowds, such as it is ! Also the amount of revisions and edits I do to posts to improve them is all wasted / unavailable in a real time format, hence why I find forums the perfect environment to help in... CBR1 point

Apology accepted, happy to move on. Please disregard any heated responses I’ve made to your comments here and there. Your observations are frequently helpful and detailed. I hope your week ahead is a good one.1 point

Oh right on, thanks! I don’t know why I didn’t think to search YouTube!1 point

I've moved on from that incident. At this point, I'm just a little surprised at the hypocrisy. Maybe you don't realize you are doing it, but are telling people they shouldn't misinterpret something, while you are constantly interpreting other people's comments and telling them they can't take joke or they are overthinking it. Sure, you may do it with a pleasant tone, but its still condescending when you do. I said it was in bad taste. Apparently my saying that is the same as calling it a war crime. Quite the leap. Also, thanks for giving me permission to move on. I appreciate it.1 point

You don't need to close it to extrude. You need to make the loft editable (as it is now), and then extrude the lower edge via ctrl-dragging, ideally at the same time, and to the same height as the same edge on the angled flat bit like so... From there we need to delete some polys on the flat section where the door sections will be, for example... Select group of polys as we need and delete, select edges and ctrl drag down on Y, weld by white arrows, move axis to Y minimum, zero-scale flat. Excellent - I will look forward to that... CBR1 point

Well, I imagine it's still in tech preview because they are trying to get it right with the resources they have at hand !? And they have, let's not forget, made parts of it usable / helpful now. It is a way off perfect. And so it is still a tech preview, which they don't shout about, yet. 3 or 4 years ago the Cinema community's biggest criticism of Maxon (other than UVs maybe!) was that they didn't share with customers what was coming in the future. People constantly whinged about that, and eventually Maxon listened, and shared their tech preview of Scene nodes. Was everyone thankful, or grateful at all that they had listened to the userbase ? Not really. Instead, a lot of them just piled in on the tech preview, complaining it wasn't a finished system, comparing it with everyone else's 'more' finished systems etc etc... so really they can't win either way can they - no matter what they do, people want more, and sooner, expect it to somehow exceed what everyone else is doing, right from the get-go, and they criticise whatever they get, right out of the gate, and forever afterwards apparently ! If they show people early, it's 'not good enough', if they don't, they are 'ignoring what customers want'. We're seeing more of the same with unified dynamics - lots of people asking for it, and so Maxon respond, and start working on it, manage to unify cloth and rope in their first go at it, to massively improve on the old cloth system and include it in the first release they reasonably can. How does the world respond ? 'It isn't as good as Marvellous Designer !' a program that ONLY does cloth sim and has had 10 years + to get it right (and which, incidentally is also plagued with its own problems, bugs and I/O issues, which no1 seems to mention while they are comparing the 2!). To be honest I wonder quite where, as a dev, I'd find the impetus to get up every morning and keep working on something that might be good one day in the face of all this relentless judgement and expectation ! So I'm afraid I rather admire the people in that position who continue to do so !! It's a shame our vaulting ambition as a species is such a double-edged sword. CBR1 point

Hi everybody, we have recently updated C4D Tabs to version 1.3. Main reason was the release of C4D S26, of course. We had a bit of bad luck with the initial release of C4D Tabs, as we released it only a few days before Cinema 4D R25. Of course the new project tabs in R25 rendered the name providing feature of C4D Tabs kind of redundant. Why did we release it nevertheless? Works in C4D R17+ (so you can get a bit of R25 feeling in older versions) Session Management does not sound like much, but actually it is my preferred feature and it works independently of C4D Tabs' project switching (I mean, you do not need to use C4D Tabs dialog, if you do not want to). Everybody likes thumbnails 🙂 Check out C4D Tabs website or C4D Tabs plugin page here in Core4D. Cheers, Andreas NOTE: This announcement got tagged "Xpresso". C4D Tabs neither has something to do with Xpresso nor does make use of Xpresso. This is not done to mislead anyone. But setting a tag is required and "Xpresso" is the only tag to choose from...1 point
