  1. New redshift 3.0.67 has material previews while renderview is active. this is awersome and my biggest issue with redshift/c4d. Thanks Maxon for fixing this

  2. I'm going to differ with the sentiment here. My last C4D version was R20, but I have returned with R25, and one of the biggest reasons is the improvement in the scene nodes. As an avid Rhinocerous gH modeling expert, I can appreciate what is happening here and see most of the modeling advancements here and not so much in classic C4D modeling. At first, the UI was a stark change in R25, but I have adapted and do not want to return to any classic C4D UI. I have owned all versions of C4D 8 up to 20 and now 25.

  3. Redshift 3.0.67 now finally includes a fix to enable material preview updates while renderview is active. Thank you Redshift/Maxon for fixing this.

  4. AI art is already a sub-genre in nfts. people pay money for it. the thing is, right now you can tell in almost all cases if it's AI art or not. and people that do AI art usually don't try to hide the fact that they are using AI to create their images. will be interesting to see how things will develop as AI becomes better and better. my guess would be that we will be seeing more behind the scenes content and making of videos from artists that do their work manually, and those artists will be the preferred choice for most collectors.

  5. Hi, those are all from the Forester extension pack 2, but I played with the materials and upped the translucency. Rendered with Corona.

  6. Of course it will go up. The only thing consistent with Maxon under AdobeGuy is that he will always do the opposite of what the users want 😛

  7. The cost going up will probably be one of the main new features. 🙃

  8. Snapping. It's ridiculous in C4D. A lot easier in apps like Maya or even blender. Along with snapping would be align. Quadcaps, relaxing points while maintaining shape, using normals or other shapes for extrusions, and so much more. Repeat last tool. Hell.. getting out of a tool requires either switching to the Move tool or the Select tool, in order to drop my current tool. Modeling modality: I shouldn't have to press M to get into modeling mode. It should already be present when I automatically shift into point, edge or poly mode. While some hotkeys for functions like Extrude exist outside of having to press M first. However, if I press D (extrude) in Model mode, it doesn't change me over a modeling mode to use it. It just sits there with an extrude mouse icon, looking at me all stupid like. Make hotkey sets where they will shift based mode or function? For instance, in model mode with the viewport active, CTRL-R invokes the Render View. However, if in modeling mode, CTRL-R invokes the Add Edge Loops tool. Speaking of edge loops, if I lay down an edge loop, my scroll wheel BEGS to be used. Let it dial in more loops, ffs!!! I shouldn't have to move my mouse at all, especially to change the number of cuts in the Attributes Panel, or the cute UI at the top with the +/-. Make C4D more efficient. The UI looks great, and back in the day it was considered artist friendly. These days artists want tools that expedite their content creation, including utilizing scroll wheels and hot keys and hotkey sets.

  10. The only thing that is 100% certain is the Scene Nodes system and features improvement. All other already developed features will remain the same. For the past 5 years nothing old gets any significant upgrade. We get small upgrades on features introduced in the last release and that's it. So I'm just waiting for about 3 new features and some field-related involvement on some old generators like local subdivision using fields. If there is a small chance of getting an upgrade on an old tool I would expect some new fracturing algorithms for the VF.

  11. As a VFX enthusiast for over 40 years, Cinefex was my go-to source for exceptional behind-the-scenes journalism. Their demise last June after 40 years was a big loss. There have been some sites out there that have tried to fill that void, but not at the same level that Cinefex did. Their writing and photo documentation was just exceptional. Well...I think I found an on-line source that looks to be a worthy successor: The Art of VFX They actually have been around since 2018. It was actually a bunch of Twitter feeds that brought them to my attention. Dave

  12. At the time being the most realistic goal for MAXON is to evolve SN to be in the same level as Grasshopper.
