Hello everyone, In this 3D animation of a Falcon 9 launch, I tried to capture the excitement of the space enthusiasts who gather around the launch sites to witness that thrilling moment when a rocket blasts off from Earth. The biggest challenge for me was all the fluid sims. Hope they turned out decent 🙂 Weapons of choice: Cinema4D, Octane, After Effects, TurbulenceFD, X-Particles, AnimaPro. Welcome to the Core. Always upload the scene file with questions like these, otherwise we can only guess. My own guess would be no phong tags, or phong angles set too low on those meshes. But impossible to tell for sure without seeing all your settings / the file. CBR

As a VFX enthusiast for over 40 years, Cinefex was my go-to source for exceptional behind-the-scenes journalism. Their demise last June after 40 years was a big loss. There have been some sites out there that have tried to fill that void, but not at the same level that Cinefex did. Their writing and photo documentation was just exceptional. Well...I think I found an on-line source that looks to be a worthy successor: The Art of VFX They actually have been around since 2018. It was actually a bunch of Twitter feeds that brought them to my attention. Dave
