  1. R20: Gave us node materials, fields, volumes and the CAD importer, 9/10 R21: Cheap versions removed, Subscriptions added. new extrude bevels and Windows 4k support, 3/10 R22: Lots of smaller bits and general improvements, 5/10 R23: Nodes, but nobody uses them, USD, but nobody uses it, Magic bullet but poorly implemented, 2/10 R24: Online content browser, placement tools, currently useless scene browser, 3/10 R25: So bad, they didn't even give it it's own press release, 1/10 R26: X implemented, X overhauled, X overhauled, dozens of new X tools, X also implemented, 9/10 You can see why so many perpetual owners all stopped at R20. Everything since then has been a bit of an anti climax. Useful bits, but nothing that's going to change your life. R20 was nice for its 4k support, but the job is only 80% finished, too many elements are still low res. You can add bonus points if you happen to need USD support or GLtf export, but they're not complete enough implementations imho. "We don't talk about R25, no no no..."

  3. So you're curious enough to stir the pot (again) even though you've talked ad nauseum in multiple threads how you've moved on from C4D and just *love* Blender, while bashing Maxon for being Adobe shills and their subscription policies. But you're curious... and yet not curious enough to download a demo.. but still curious... this is very curious indeed. BTW, your answers you seek are found in the previous threads where you brought up your old version of R20, the lack of updates YOU found appealing enough to purchase, and ultimately how bad subscriptions are. I'm surprised you don't remember all of these previous conversations. It's a joy to revisit them again, from a philosophical and curious mindset of course!!!! 🙂

  4. And yet, here you are. Even when you like another, it's still hard to give up on the old one. I understand.

  5. I don't need a NURBS modeler right now, but it's always a delight to see the natural, hassle-free way of modeling that NURBS provide. Also, I reaaally enjoy the breed of new apps with a super-clean UI and well-thought-out workflow (like Embergen, for example). Judging from the videos, this is also a prime example of good UI/UX. For some people, this is not so important, but for me it really makes or breaks a software. Well done!

  6. Nooo. 🙂 Modo is a DCC like Cinema, with some exceptionally nice modelling functionality among other things... CBR

  7. No problem. I converted a lot of complicated stuff, that i can not share, but here are some small things I modeled. moi export examples.zip

  8. Interesting to hear of this software, I'll have to give it a look. I'm a MOI fan. I use it a lot and have done some big projects with it. In fact one of my major clients was enthusing about some models they received from me, built in MOI, just a couple of days ago. I try not to mention it here so I don't raise the polygon-flow wrath of Cerbera ; ) LOL! It's not for everyone of course, nor for every job - but for a lot of the work I do it's brilliant.

  9. That's a nice list but to be honest I never miss any of these things when working with r20, and so far the comfort of never seeing a "license expired" message pop up on screen is worth more to me than any of these other things.

  10. plus crashes/instability and license hassle. -- Besides that, yeah, there are lot's of minor improvements. Stuff you don't remember when it changed, so hard to make a list. But they are the good ones. Will any of those new big features help you? I don't know. For me, UV improvements are useless in C4D. I long stopped trying to do anything UV related in C4D. Viewport improvements: Fancy stuff, not faster. Not usable with 3rd-party-render-materials. Node Materials the same. GUI looks horrible, misses stuff, costs lot's of time to learn, doesn't speed up workflows. Tracking - who tracks stuff in C4D? Asset Browser is pretty useless in multi-user-environments. Magic Bullet Looks - who ever uses Post-Lens-Effects on final Renderings will get fired! List goes on ...
