  1. Belated Happy New Year everyone. May everyone enjoy health and a full return to a pre-pandemic normal life this year (finally). May your polygons always be 4 sided, your edge-flows well defined and your poles never exceed 4. Finally, may you boldly push your talents in 2022 farther than they have ever been pushed before with the confidence that your DCC application will never let you down. Dave

  3. Hello, I am sharing my personal utility class that contains a lot of functions that help to compute some geometrical data on meshes, selections, mesh editing, splines, normals, polygons and more : https://code.vonc.fr/utils It's still in construction, there is more to come, the descriptions are not yet translated in english, there is not yet images for all, it's not all in Python 3 yet too, but I am working on it. 🙂 I am also making a C4D file that contains all theses functions, like a bit unit test file where you can play with each function. I am searching a way to make a better presentation of it because it make a quite huge page actually, I'd like to have your opinion on it. Here is also a specific chapter on bezier curves in a more tutorial way to understand them : https://code.vonc.fr/courbe-de-bezier And if you are interested, there is more stuff on my website, not necessary C4D but still 3D oriented. I think will post here when I will translate some bach of them, with images. I hope this stuff can help some !

  4. Hello there. I joined this forum because I had c4D Issues, but will probably stick around for further knowledge. I´m an animation student at Hyper Island, Stockholm. 😄 Looking to get better at 3D animation overall, c4D, blender and Maya. But want to learn Houdini someday. Right now I´m experimenting with Blender and c4D, as well as working with 2D.

  8. I think you can only take that so far with cars. The reflection of the ground back up to the lower part of the car is altered significantly with lighter floors/backdrops. All things I'm experimenting with currently.

  12. Many of these bugs seems to have apeared in this 25.113 version. I really recommend everyone to stay one version down or in S24 or R23. The node editor i still a bit buggy but it will get fixed eventually. Right now is more important not to screw up the remmaining good tools. cheers

  13. R25 just is a mess. I don't want to reduce the work of the developers, as I think it is a result of a change in development principles. I am shure they are doing what they can. Today it is quite common to develop parallel not sequential anymore. R25 and the "secret" and retracted 25.016 feel more like a build of the current development instead of a finished product. I personally do not care how they develop, but I think the customer has a right to get a product that feels finished. I wanted to write, that R25 is not suitable as a perpetual version (who wants to pay >3000€ for this without the hope to ever get a finished product) but as I see it it doesn't matter if you are on subscription or on perpetual. People have to work with this software every day and for this price point they are entitled to get at least a cohesive software that is stable and complete. As a perpetual customer you are stuck with a expensive "beta" version of a software, but as a subscriber you also never get a finished product just a new "beta" version. Don't understand me wrong. C4D still is acceptable to work with (I had to work with S24 wich was much better than R23) but R25 with its unfinished and unnecessary UI overhaul new bugs and clumsy updates really feels like a unnecessary release to me. If they can not produce a finished product every half year, they should skip the S releases. No one is helped with new but over and over unfinished releases. People have to work with this software, it is not a computer game or something.

  14. Car Studio Lighting RnD. Working out a new studio setup for lighting cars for an upcoming project. WIP - still a ways to go on this. First shots feel a bit gray/dull. I always shoot cars in dark environments, so I'm learning how to do it in a white environment without burnout.
