Let's have something different. Oh no wait, it's more golf clubs; beginning to feel like I have modelled every golf club in the world at this rate ! 🙂 These particular ones though, by Zebra Golf have been particularly rewarding, and I was able to do SDS and all the quads in all 4 of these... ...and some wires of those thusly... Renders by Kane Cochran in good old Octane 🙂 CBR2 points

I think the embedded worked? This is short WIP animation I've been working on the last few weeks. I asked my friend if I could make some 3D version of his companies 2D logo. Another friend of mind modelled the pod and I put the shots together in C4D-Octane. I got some great feedback from one of the classmates of Lights, Camera, Render course about adding some flashes or more sparks outside the pod window. Also on adding more roughness or burn marks to the material. So I'll be working on those next. Sure let me know if any other suggestions or critique be much appreciated. Render times for the first 2 shots were about 4 - 10 seconds per frame. For the other shots with heavy VDB they were about 4 - 9 mins per frame. I possibly could optimise the scenes better maybe. I rendered out with Octane ACES but think I messed up because I didn't apply any further color correction in AE or AP. Maybe I'm supposed to make them ACES too or something?1 point

LAB Golf Spot May 2021 Particularly rewarding project this one - modelling initially, then over to my good buddy KC for some Octane rendering, then back to me for the musics...1 point

From their site: For a list of new features: https://www.blender.org/download/releases/3-0/ The new updated Cycles X renders between 2 and 8 times faster. Geometry nodes have seen a dramatic update, and the new (much awaited) Asset Browser is another key new feature. An animation pose library is integrated. And of course a boatload of other improvements and bug fixes across the board.1 point

The edge flow transitions are just outstanding, inspiring and I always learn something from every one of your meshes. ...well, I learn what to do. Actually doing it is a completely different story. You mentioned in the first post that the piece came back to you for the music? Can you tell us more? Did you perform it, compose it or just edit it in? Really nice clean music as well. Dave P.S. Clean meshes, clean music. How clean is your work space? Please tell me you are human and it is a completely messy and unorganized pile of papers, old coffee cups, and half eaten bags of Cheetos.1 point

Been messing with Character Creator in some spare time. It's really quick tool to get rough characters done. Have to spend some time to figure out the full workflow in getting scenes done but here are some of the ones I messed around with.1 point

Moving house took me nearly 3 months to do so was stressed to the max. I took a little break from that to do this last month but only shared on IG and C4D Reddit sub. Hopefully get more time to focus on projects in the New Year...1 point

Have to admit, Blender looks better and better as time goes on. I always have it on my system in case I might need it for something that C4D can't do. Sadly, Cycles X isn't supported on Mac yet (3.1 will support METAL), but I did render that scene The Junk Shop just for grins using Cycles in 3.0. That's a pretty complex scene with many effects and DoF. I'm using a 2017 iMac Pro 18-core. That thing rendered in :49 seconds! I feel that's very good considering my setup. I know I've seen Cycles X crank out scenes like that in :15 sec., but they're also using 2 o 3 of the latest VERY expensive GPUs. In a pinch, I would switch to Blender full time, especially since I don't work in a big-studio pipeline.1 point

Cheers, I knew for those closeups that I'd need to have live action for it to be believable, the CGI photoscan I had works well for wide shots but falls apart upon closer inspection. Yeah it's handy having 3 brothers to act as a film crew, considering they were stuck at home during lock down they may as well do something 🙂 Haha my parents are actually mentioned in the first film before this one, which was my high school major work: I created the previous film on a 2012 mac mini, and I've learnt so much since then but check it out if you're interested! Cheers that'd be the dream, and in regards to the Newton's Cradle - it's set in the future so maybe there's some magnet tech that keeps it running endlessly?1 point

I used C4D to create a fan film based off the game 'Subnautica' - Super fun project that took about 2 years to finish. Rendered with Arnold/Redshift1 point
