  2. judging from the first generation of M chips they will be super efficient, and most probably also be very performant. My guess is, that they will compete with workstations as notebooks might be no match. If it outperforms the competition it can be priced accordingly and in contrast to the Mac Pro these Notebooks are (most propably) unreached in performance, therefore I think that the prices are acceptable. It is actually the first time since the old cheese grater that the price seems acceptable for me. I would love it to be a pc notebook, but never the less I am happy, as competition is good for development. remember the days that intel was lonely on the top of CPU developement. nearly 10 years of near stagnation. Now we have 3 competing CPUs und even 4 competing GPUs with intel and apple also in the game. I am really eager to see those benchmarks.

  4. I'm still using my iMac from 2010. It's long overdue for replacement but it's still ticking along. None of the PC's I ever had managed anything near that amount of longevity. I understand things may be better now, and that the ease of replacing parts, RAM and whatever brings additional benefits for anyone wanting to upgrade their PC. Just for me though I'm glad there are Mac options coming back again that look decent. I'd guess the new latest Apple silicon chips would run great with Blender, and would do ok with Houdini if SideFX ever look at getting things working on it - they might and they might not, who knows. But I wouldn't assume the various industry professionals popping up midway through the Apple video to tell us how happy they with its performance would be doing so if the machines ran like crap. There will surely be tons of benchmarks and comparisons and stuff online in the coming weeks too.

  5. They're expensive, sure, but I bought a Razer Blade 2 years ago and it's a piece of junk in comparison. I still do most of my work on an older iMac 27in. These Macbook Pros look mighty appealing for a next upgrade.
