  1. @FLima I have considered the subscription route, but it is not for me in any sort of long term way because I may not always be doing this for a living, and as a hobbyist I'd find it difficult to stomach handing over 700 quid every year for software that will stop functioning the moment I stop paying. Nope - perpetuals are the way to go for me, and I very much hope Maxon continue to offer them. CBR

  2. I get that you feel like that, and that would be something it would be more reasonable to say given that is your opinion.. But let's have no more comparing individuals to vermin please - if there are reasonable and legitimate things to say those arguments should stand on their own without needing to be personally insulting as well. 3. Another few years for all the big features to come in is fine and seems about right. And since the really disaffected users who were unhappily waiting tell us that they have jumped to Blender, and are now happily using that software, not too many people will be bothered by this. Next year will be cool with a beefy S26 and an excellent R27.

  4. We must learn that in the raw business world, there are no such things as "faithful customers", "arrogance", "honesty", "decency" - we just have business. Moving to the subscription model is a sign of a) Panic, sales are plummeting or b) The need to hide what I call feature maturity, the saturation of nifty features or c) A messed up roadmap which stems from trying to chew more than a mouthful at one time or d) Plain financial calculations that tell the company that this is the most profitable way to go In Maxon's case it is one one these factors, or most likely, a combination of them. -Ingvar

  5. Not having a native renderer would be fine if Maxon decided to charge a little less for C4D as a result, because then people that don't use the built in renderer can save a little by not having to pay for one, but that's of course not what has happened. Letting your render engine die a slow death of neglect but keeping the same price is just, idk, it seems super arrogant.

  6. I am a long time customer, and I have just paid what I considered to be a rather reasonable 900 pounds to update from R21 perpetual to R23 Perpetual. That is 2 versions worth of functionality for less than the price of 2 yrs of the annual MSA I paid every year up to R21. So in that respect I don't feel I have been screwed OR forced into subscription while that option was on the table. I currently have the option to go to 25 perpetual for a similar price. I do consider it a shame that support for perpetuals is limited to 3 months, Cineversity is not included, and may be somewhat personally disappointed that Maxon hasn't so far gone for the 'Rent to buy' model, which I think would make a lot of long term users much happier, but I don't feel that hard done by as long as perpetuals continue to be available with yearly upgrade options. 7. You are absolutely entitled to you option. But you really have to state them without personal assaults. It does't help anybody - not the forum, not the user, and also not yourself.

  8. @Icecaveman It is one thing to speculate / venture an opinion about the future of the software, but rather another to make a personal attack on an individual person, comparing them to some blood-sucking life form and implying they are taking joy in the despair of others, which is what you have done above, and is neither justified nor helpful. Nor does it make you look any more reasonable or rational. Personally I think you owe Dave an apology. CBR

  10. I have to give you maxon guys credit for the communication on the last view pages. For me It is a big difference to Maxons normal way of communicating. You might not able to see it or to maintain it in the future, but the first 35 pages resulted in you explaining instead of just using the standard phrases like " we are listening to you" without any further explanation. You gave more insights then normally in a year. And you try to make yourself understood by sharing information and reasoning. Keeping this up would be a good step to a better understanding and less frustration. That doesn`t mean, that I think everything is clear now, as unlogic und unexplained decisions by maxon still persist (big example being: sub vs perpetual pricing and features). But this is supposed to be a compliment for a good start not the beginning of a new or continued rant. It might be a Déjà-vu, but I think I already wrote something like this some years ago 🙂

  11. Man, it is amazing how much you dance around a situation, downplaying and diminishing at every turn any possible negative feedback people can have. It will never be a "oh, yeah, there is this negative feedback here, and this amount of dislikes.. maybe we should understand why this is happening" No, it is always: "People complaining are biased and small numbers - irrelevant to us" "People always complain, but they like it afterwards (aka, the typical, we know what is best for you, better than you do)" "We listen to very positive feedback from studios ( a subtle way to point once again, that normal customers/hobbysts are irrelevant to Maxon) thus, everything is fine to whom really matters" Is it really, absolutely impossible for you to just.. for a few seconds, acknowledge and understand why this update was disappointing for a lot of people? Or you will constantly parade against customers who are unhappy with certain aspects, trying as best as you can to belittle our feedbacks?
